Devil May Cry 4....

Recommended Posts

Preordered at Gamestop (I had $5 in credit for some reason) and they claimed it wasn't coming out until tomorrow. I have my doubts, but I hve plenty to keep me busy for another day.

Yeah I just called the gamestop here and they said tomorrow. It seems over the past few years it is changing from Tuesday to Wednesday that everything hits stores. Maybe since they don't control when the shipments come in, it was too hard to guarantee everything by Tuesday....but I swear, when I was younger, everything was sitting on the shelf by tuesday morning. I would check around other places, but since I am trading in a game I want to use Gamestop.

Yeah I don't know when release dates changed. It used to be I'd stop by some chain like a Best Buy on a Tuesday and check out the new releases for everything. Games, movies, music, the whole deal. Now a Tuesday release can mean either it ships Tuesday or it's actually on the shelf on Tuesday. I don't know what happened.

Get off my lawn you damn kids.

This is what I've picked up, having worked at Gamestop a few times before. If a game is STREET DATED, unless it's done so by Nintendo, (which has this knack of releasing stuff on Sundays) it typically ships a week or less in advance and is on shelves by Tuesday. However, 90% of the time, any other release date is simply a ship date, and the store will have on the shelf on Wednesday.

Either way, this game looks pretty badass. I may have to get it. Just hope it isn't as smash-your-controller-into-the-ground hard as the first DMC3. The SE of DMC 3 was a cakewalk, and a little TOO easy.

From what I have heard the game has two levels of difficulty when you start out, and then more difficulty levels are opened up when you beat the game. I have Uncharted to trade in, waiting in the car and as long as Gamestop has them in by the time I get off work, I am getting the game this evening after work.

Yeah, what Haws said is pretty much true. Burnout we got a week or so before it was supposed to come out so that we'd have copies on the release date.

Other than that, yeah... most shit just tells us: "Ships 4/1/08" and then we'll get it like, the next day and that's usually before noon (atleast at my store).

I'll probably check a copy out from work tonight and give it a go.

Got it, played through the first few missions on "Devil Hunter" (the harder of the two opening difficulties) and it's not terribly difficult so far. Pretty good cutscenes, and the plot is so far pretty much nonexistant (as expected) although there hasn't been much chance for exposition.

Only problem is that starting with the cutscene that introduces Gloria (who makes quite the entrance), the game starts showing thin blue vertical lines down the screen and muted colors. I guess it's the disc, but I really don't feel like taking time out of work to go exchange it. If anyone else has the problem or a solution, let me know please.

I've had the game for two days and haven't even touched it yet.....too many things pulling me away from the video games, because I hate getting a new game and having to only be able to play it for a small amount of time when I first open it.....but alas, tonight is Friday and I have all night to get into this game!! WOOHOO!!!

Well, after trying to play the game a couple more times I got the dreaded RROD (just one quadrant though, not 3) and a "E 74" message. Customer service was remarkably unhelpful and told me to send it in. I've got to decline, so now I'm XBoxless. I'm hoping (selfishly) that it's the game and a few more Boxes melt down so they have to shoulder responsibility, but I'm not very hopeful.

I've got one of those too don't worry. Just don't have any games for it. Ninja Gaiden and Resistance is it. Well, that and a bunch of PS2 games I can go back and finish. Rogue Galaxy oughta take up a good chunk of time, and I still need to 100% .Hack//G.U. among a few other games.

Something that always frustrates me/cracks me up about the Devil May Cry series is that you get these random bad guys who look intimidating as fuck, but then you actually start beating them down pretty decently so you get alll confident and shit, and then right when you are about to apply the finishing blow, out of nowhere, the guy spawns 2-3 more clones of itself....sending you straight back into frustration mode.....

Get off my lawn you damn kids.

This is what happens a lot of times with video game release dates. Monday and Tuesday are shipping dates for video games, while Wednesday has become the common video game in-store day. Tuesday used to be the common day but for reason that changed for no real reason at all.

Now here's the problem, video game companies decide to release the shipping date of the game instead of the actual in-store date and the shipping date is a highly publicized thing and the stores (gamecrazy and gamestop) have no clue if the date that the video game company is advertising is the shipping or in-store date until the release date. So the day comes where this game is suppose to be out, but no one had no idea that actual date was the shipping date. So instead of the game being out on that day like it was advertised it just turns out, the date was just the shipping date.

It's a bunch of bullshit really.

Just beat it the other day but I will have to play through the final mission again because I heard that if you kill all the enemies during the credits, then you get a different ending......

I have followed the DMC series since it's initial release in October of 2001, through the horrendous disappointment that was DMC 2 in 2003, and the controller-shattering goodness that was DMC 3 in 2005. I think the DMC 4 should be awesome, looks great, just ordered Devil May Cry 4 for $59.
