King Kamala Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 Well, a couple weeks ago in the Box Office thread I predicted 10,000 B.C. would do somewhere between 30 and 40 million opening weekend. Score one for me. I bet it has a huge dropoff next weekend. Not surprised to see Semi-Pro fall so hard though.
Cheech Tremendous Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 What is 10,000 BC about? Even after seeing the commercial a few dozen times I cannot discern what the premise or story is.
Gary Floyd Posted March 10, 2008 Author Report Posted March 10, 2008 If I were 7 years old, 10,000 B.C. would seem like the coolest movie.
2GOLD Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 If I were 7 years old, 10,000 B.C. would seem like the coolest movie. Actually no, you wouldn't. Apparently it was a talk filled film with not enough action. Seems that the action you saw in the previews was actually ALL the action from the film.
2GOLD Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 EWW, really? That's what I was told by my future in-laws. Apparently they are a big fan of Day After Tomorrow (I have no idea why) and went because they thought it would be a mindless popcorn movie. Turns out, according to them, that it was tons of plot but not enough action to justify such a horribly boring plot. So in short, it was a mess. Honestly, it ended up in my "not worth 3 dollars" list about a week ago.

In Day After Tomorrow, the tornadoes ripping LA to shreds, and the the giant Tidal Wave destroying NY were kinda neat. It was just the other 2 hours of the movie that were dull.
RedJed Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 10,000 BC is indeed a fucking mess. Really bad and unconvincing acting, horrible plot with tons of holes in the story, could go on and on. The effects are definately good, but pretty much all were seen in one way or another in the main previews.
Guest Warriorfan Posted March 11, 2008 Report Posted March 11, 2008 8 5 Jumper 20th Century Fox Distribution $3,750,000 $72,537,000 4 2563 If this film becomes a blockbuster I will be in complete disbelief! Both word of mouth and critical reviews have been terrible and yet it marches on.

Both word of mouth and critical reviews have been terrible and yet it marches on. Yet another movie that fit damn near the same criteria as 10,000 BC - horrible story that just didn't jive for me, mediocre convincing of such, and the effects were there, but not yet saving the film in any way.
