Tori Spelling was going to return, but declined last minute after hearing Shannen Doherty signed on.

The funny thing about 90210 was about how when the series started it had some-what realistic storylines about life, but then it seemed like they started running out of ideas so the stories started becoming these elaborate dramas and just got so beyond imagination. That and it was hard to believe a circle of friends could remain friends with each other when everyone was sleeping with everyone elses friend, then going back to them, then the other person etc etc.....

I had the same beef about Melrose Place.

First thing I thought was, oh wow, there really is only one black person. Lol.

I missed the first ten minutes of the episode, so when I came in I saw the black guy, and someone made the comment about him being the principal's kid. I was like wow, they've got a black principal....wrong. Not that it really matters, but I just thought it was kind of funny.

This is pretty bad so far. Jessica Walter basically playing Lucille Bluth again is about the only reason to watch.

I only watched a bit but yeah, seeing her drinking and making fun of the meal her family prepared for her was great.

"Look at her, you could crack an egg on that ass. And I say that because when I was her age, Ricardo Montalban literally cracked an egg on mine"

She might have said dress instead of ass, but I like my version better. Go Lucille!

I watched parts and was not impressed.

The writing was not as crisp as the original.

Totally agree. The show started when I was in 6th grade (1990) and the first season hooked me. It was a realistic show with compelling storylines that pre-teens/teens could relate to.

That only lasted until about the 3rd season and then it became basically a night time soap opera. I tuned out about 1994 or so.

But damn were those first 2 seasons (especially the first) good

yea she said ass Loved Grandma Bluth...much needed comic relief without being silly.

Did Annie call Linda Gray's character "Mrs. Michaels"? if so she's definitely playing her character from Models, Inc/Melrose Place. That means Ethan is related to Amanda Woodward any chance Heather Locklear shows up.

Looks like the son of the porn guy is the winner of the age lottery. Accordingly to IMDB, he's 28. The others are between 19-23.

The thing is, that's what people remember. And to be honest, the first few episodes of the original were about as bad as these two episodes of 90210.

Overall, I'd say this was (quality-wise) squarely in between the excellence of Degrassi TNG and the putrid Saved by the Bell: TNC. There was a shitload of exposition in the pilot, and the second episode was very by-the-numbers, but as mentioned before, Jessica Walter was brilliant, the use of existing continuity was perfectly acceptable, and it's probably good enough to attract the kids who usually lap this stuff up and good enough for a CW show.

Yea, it was really hard for me to not think of the main chick, as Darcy.

8:30 p.m. – Viewers: 4.88 million (#2), A18-49: 2.7/ 7 (#2)

9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 5.14 million (#4), A18-49: 2.7/ 7 (#2)

9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 5.06 million (#4), A18-49: 2.7/ 7 (#3)

I am surprised there wasn't as huge of a dropoff in Hour 2 as I expected. But excellent ratings for a CW show and I don't think there should be a huge ratings drop next week when other shows premiere

One thing I didnt get about Silver is if most of her unhappiness is based on the fact that her dad cheated on her mom and they got divorced, why would she want to be reminded of her Dad's last name?

I was intrigued by this show. Too many girls that all look alike though. I could do without Naomi, Ethan, the teacher that is supposedly going to become Kelly's love interest, and the rich singer dude who is dating Annie.

This show definitely needs that rebel with a heart of gold like Dylan McKay.

If she didn't use Silver, it wouldn't have been obvious to the viewer that she's David's sister. I'm sure they didn't put any other deep thoughts into it.

In the case of Ethan they took a hot dude and made him look plain. I don't know why they did that.

I never watched the original series, but everyone who is supposed to be under 25 looks and acts like they were on the cast of Power Rangers a few years ago. In fact, it kind of reminds me of the non-karate portions of early Ranger episodes stretched out to a full sized show, with Lucille Bluth thrown in for good measure.

1. The chick who plays Silver is really f'n hot.

2. If the guy doesn't bang her by the end of the season, I will be extremely disappointed. There seemed to be several opportunities this episode.
