Unfortunately, I tried a bunch of things and it didn't work. Ah well, I figure the rosters would probably turn over quite a bit by the time I'm done there anyways, so whatever.

No problem, VX. I feel your pain too, I'd rather have the actual names as opposed to a bunch of generated names and numbers.

 

Also, if you leave them untouched after downloading them, they're fine.

 

There is a roster editing glitch that's in the process of having a patch released for it. EA has completed it, now it's pending certification.

 

If you make a bunch of edits to the rosters and such, you'll run into this glitch:

I'll probably start a new thread for this, but I am open to starting an online Madden '09 league as well when the game comes out in a few weeks. I'll probably start it a week or so after the launch date so everyone can get familiar with the game and whatnot. Oh, and I call the Pats right now.

Due to PK's now deleted thread and the fact that we're less than 3 weeks out from release, I think we should figure out who's going to run the Madden league.

 

As I said before, I would be a good choice. I'm on every day, and I have plenty of experience running past leagues various 2K Sports games. I'm also running an online dynasty for NCAA, so I'm familiar with the EA Sports league setup.

You know what, maybe All-American isn't too bad of a difficulty setting for me. I'm playing on Varsity in Campus Legend, and apparently I got my playing groove back, since I went for 300+ yards rushing and 130 receiving, with 5 touchdowns on the ground, and 2 in the air. I think my team won 56-10, so that means I pretty much provided all the offense, save for one long touchdown which went down the sideline.

 

I freakin' LOVE Campus Legend, by the way. As I said, I haven't played any football video game in maybe a couple years or so-2006 does seem about right, actually- and I don't know if this was in las tyear or what, but I'm having a blast playing a position and being locked into that one player and developing him specifically. I'd imagine it could be kind of boring as an offensive lineman, though, but not bad on the sweeps and whatnot. Pass blocking is a bitch, as are catching screens and running short hook routes up the middle.

 

Man, fuck Madden.

Campus Legend is great because I can finish a game in 15 minutes. The high school portion was nice, too. The only thing that really sucks is the lack of commentary.

if we're calling teams, I want Green Bay, but I guess we should all decide on how to determine teams when 2 people want the same squad, such as VX and myself. I say we should just play for them. But then the losers would be stuck with shitty teams since everyone else will have chosen.

Hey Broward, I sent you a message via Live, but I'm going to change my team. I completely forgot (don't know how, but I did) that Oregon runs a wide-open, shotgun-oriented offense that I hate, hate, hate as a video football gamer. I like Boise State's offense much better, and I got upset at Autzen Stadium by the freakin' Huskies (I threw SIX PICKS!) so familiarizing myself with the playbook would've probably been a good idea prior to that. I knew something was wrong when I was playing Campus Legend and the only plays ever called for me were shitty draws and screens. Luckily, I saved a backup of right after I won the high school championship, and now I'm Smurf Turfin' it up with the Boise St. Broncs. I tried out Cal and UCLA's playbooks as well and didn't really dig them, moreso UCLA than Cal's.

Yeah I was thinking about doing Oregon with Boise State's playbook, but 1. Oregon's team is built for Oregon's plays, and 2. I already got my BUTT whooped once as Oregon, and I'd like a clean start on the smurf turf. I kind of wanted to be a Pac-10 team because no one else here is, but I'll compete with Agent in the WAC.

 

Anyways, what I figured I'd just do is retire from the dynasty and then I could just be invited back, if I can't just be "switched"...

I'm thinking that for the 2nd season, those that have open dates on their schedule.. we can sign up for some home and home's.

 

I know it looks like Fresno State and Illinois are going to start a home and home next year...so that leaves Boise (who Texas will not play), Texas..UTEP and LSU with open dates.

 

I'm up for playing LSU and possibly Illinois...I'll even be gracious enough to let the first game be at your home venue.

Thankfully, my shit didn't freeze on me. And people weren't kidding about the FCS teams. I edited them out of my schedule in my offline and online dynasties I started, and the other dynasty I'm in edited non-conference games so we'd all play each other. But I won 93-0 against FCS Midwest.
