Kahran Ramsus Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 Is it possible that Thomas simply asked for his release? That's what happened, but I think most of us knew that's how this would end up after we found out about the benching yesterday. I'm speaking more about that than actually giving him his release. They didn't want his option to kick in for next year which was based around the number of plate appearances.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted April 21, 2008 Author Report Posted April 21, 2008 I do think the Blue Jays made this move prematurely. Whoever picks up Thomas will make the Jays look foolish by June. Anyone else checking out the Mets/Phillies national broadcast tonight?
treble Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 The reasoning for making this move so early (according to Ricciardi) is because they can't afford to wait around for him to heat up (which I'm pretty sure he will). I can kind of understand that, and if he was going to complain about not playing while they waited for him to come around, it's probably best to get rid of him. I'm just looking forward to all of the Bonds-to-Toronto rumours that are going to start up now.

If your scouts tell you his swing is gone, that's one thing. But this? Riccardi is an idiot.
treble Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 You can say that, but he's been really good at nipping conflict like this in the bud, like when he got rid of Hillenbrand so quickly. I think this might come back to bite them in the ass, though. Mostly, I think he just cares about doing what he can to get into contention now in order to keep his job. He's also been really good at picking up good middle relievers out of nowhere.
Guest Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 Um, the Dodgers are six and a half games out. What's going on out there? Can't score. Basically this team sucks cock.
Guest blame that goot. Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 Well, the loathsome Dbags finally lost a game, so they moved up to six out. What happened to the vaunted Dodger farm system coming to fruition? Joe's not trotting Juan Pierre out there, is he? I wouldn't be surprised if Torre gets sick of managing and retires if the Dodgers have a shitty year. Let's hope they don't, though, because the Dodgers are the most palatable team in that division.
Guest Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 Pierre's being platooned with Kemp. The only guys doing anything are Furcal and Loney, so something's gotta be messed with. I'm sure that if one guy were to make the job his, it would stay that way.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted April 21, 2008 Author Report Posted April 21, 2008 The Dodgers are decent in almost every offensive category except runs scored. I think it's mostly situational hitting, and that will solve itself. The team is 7-10, hardly a dramatic plunge.
strummer Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 When did JC Romero become unhittable? Seriously he couldn't get anyone out in the AL and now he's Willie Hernandez circa 1984 in the NL

Seriously he couldn't get anyone out in the AL and now he's Willie Hernandez circa 1984 in the NL Immediately upon joining the Phillies. Last year he surrendered 15 hits in 36.3 innings. He can't sustain that, but if his control holds up he's quite a pitcher. What an astute waiver claim.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted April 21, 2008 Author Report Posted April 21, 2008 Great play from Eric Bruntlett to win the game. Phils salvage the series with a 5-4 victory.
milliondollarchamp Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 Hey Al i heard John Marzano died any reasons on how I've heard he fell down the stairs and broke his neck & i heard heart attack have u heard anything?
Smartly Pretty Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 I think if Luis Castillo puts that bunt down the Mets win the game. Oh well.

Just that. Whether the heart attack or fall killed him, or if he suffered the heart attack afterwards will take an autopsy to decide.

Saying he's an idiot is probably strong, since Riccardi likely does not really believe the reason he gave.

The medical examiner ruled out falling down the stairs as a cause of death.
