Not sure if anyone cares but I think we've had threads for the tournament/World Series before. The field is 64 teams that is divided into 16 regionals. I want to try and get out to the Regional at Rice. Reckling's only like, a short bus ride from where I'm at.

How Texas got in kinda amazes me after their let down of a season this year.. but I guess being such a prominent player in the CWS over the years gives you a pass or two.

Prediction? Texas v Rice in the final. I'd like to see Rice win it, but I've got this feeling that UT will walk away the winner.

UCLA/Fullerton is the only game going on right now with the Fullerton up 6-2 in the 4th. If they hang on they'll force a deciding game in the region tomorrow.

Miami, Arizona, N.C. State, Wichita State, North Carolina, Coastal Carolina, UC Irvine, LSU, Rice, and Arizona State all advanced to the Super Regionals with Georgia, Stanford (yay!), Florida State, Houston, and San Diego pulling off the doubleheader wins today to force a deciding game. Here's tomorrow's schedule to close out the Regional round:

Georgia vs. Georgia Tech

Stanford vs. Pepperdine

Florida State vs. Tulane

Houston vs. Texas A&M

San Diego vs. Fresno State

Cal State Fullerton vs. UCLA (if necessary)

When ESPNU kept advertising UCLA/Cal State at 11, I thought they were going early in the morning. Stanford/Pepperdine kicks off at 4pm, three more around 7pm, San Diego/Fresno St. at 9pm, and the UCLA game at 11pm. All Eastern of course. ESPNU's broadcast schedule lists games on air at 7 and 11pm.

There is nothing else like this in baseball. Six games today, every one of them is a winner-advances, loser-goes-home scenario.

Woo hoo, Stanford comes from behind to beat Pepperdine!

Once again UCLA/Fullerton is the late night game, Fullerton is up 2-0 in the 3rd. Fresno State emerges as the Cinderella of the tournament as they win their region as the #4 seed after beating San Diego 5-1. With the pending exception of Fullerton, all of the top eight overall seeds advanced. Here's the almost complete Super Regional match-ups that begin on Friday (best-of-three).

Arizona at #1 Miami

N.C. State at #8 Georgia

Stanford at #5 Cal State Fullerton or UCLA at Stanford

Wichita State at #4 Florida State

Coastal Carolina at #2 North Carolina

UC Irvine at #7 LSU

Texas A&M at #6 Rice

Fresno State at #3 Arizona State

A packed schedule with seven games today. ESPN has 1pm and 4pm games, ESPN2 has a 7pm game. Alternate games apparently on ESPNU. A Super-Regional is best of three, so there are three winner-takes-all games today.

1pm

North Carolina vs. Coastal Carolina (NC leads series 1-0)

Florida St. vs. Wichita St. (series tied 1-1)

4pm

NC State vs. Georgia (series tied 1-1)

LSU vs. UC Irvine (UC Irvine leads series 1-1)

7pm

Miami vs. Arizona (series tied 1-1)

Texas A&M vs. Rice (Rice leads series 1-0)

10pm

Arizona St. vs. Fresno St. (Arizona St. leads series 1-0)

In the Wichita/FSU game, an FSU fan took a foul ball away from the FSU third baseman, which would have been the final out of the 2nd inning. Very next pitch, homerun Wichita State. Seminoles still up 6-2 though.

And the fan has been escorted from the game.

Florida St. and North Carolina win their games to advance to Omaha, joining Stanford.

Meanwhile, Georgia has scored seven runs in the first inning. Not a good day so far for competitive baseball.

I didn't even know that LSU had won 23 games in a row before dropping the opener of the series. Will be interesting to see how Irvine shows up tomorrow after having it almost wrapped up.

LSU certainly didn't want to leave their game in doubt. They advance with a 21-7 shellacking of UC Irvine. Meanwhile, Fresno St. pulled off a huge upset by advancing over Arizona State. Fresno St. was the #4 seed in their regional, and they become the first #4 to reach Omaha.

Two great games today. Stanford blew FSU's doors off with 11 in the 9th and Georgia just handed Miami its first loss in 46 games when leading after 8.

Fresno State's miracle run seems to be continuing as they've blown it open 11-0 on Rice in the 4th. Although it is college baseball so I suppose no lead is safe.

Today's schedule

Stanford vs. Georgia, 2:00 PM/11:00 AM, ESPN

North Carolina vs. Fresno State, 7:00/4:00 PM, ESPN

Since the CWS lost a day due to rain, their originally weren't any games scheduled for tomorrow but if either Stanford or UNC wins today they'll force another game and since ESPN didn't have it originally scheduled those games would be pushed over to ESPN Classic.
