I could just edit my team into the first post, but I'll post here anyways to make a point of it that it doesn't matter if you have the exact style team you want in mind yet. I know my offense is going to depend a lot on my coach, and my defense on its personnel, so I'm just putting down basic positions thus far; plus, I have some guys on D who can play two positions, particularly in the secondary. This is what I have so far, though:

Coach - None

QB - Brett Favre

RB - Marshall Faulk

FB - None

WR - Andre Reed

TE - None

OL - None

DL - Willie Davis

LB - Kevin Greene, Ted Hendricks

DB - Rod Woodson, Rodney Harrison, Jack Tatum

Time to start working on my offense:

johnson.chad.1_article.jpg

Chad Johnson, WR

- Over 1,000 yards receiving in 6 of his first 7 seasons in the NFL

- Led the AFC in receiving for 4 straight years (came 3rd last season)

- 5x Pro Bowl

- 2x 1st team All-Pro

- Top 20 among active players in receiving touchdowns, yards and in receptions in total (and is the youngest player on each list)

With a ton of character guys to keep him in line, Ocho Cinco will be a huge asset to my offense. Equally adept as a possession receiver, as a big play guy and as a touchdown threat, Johnson's speed and toughness will help him be the center of my WR core. If he stays healthy (and actually plays), there is little doubt he will finish his career very high on every list possible for a wide receiver.

john-mackey-at.jpg

John Mackey, TE

- 5x Pro Bowl

- 3x First Team all-pro

- 1960's All Decade team

- 2nd TE to ever be elected to the Hall of Fame

He revolutionized the tight end position more than, maybe, any other player in history. Excellent both a blocker and a receiving threat, Mackey was the first big play tight end, twice averaging over 20 yrds/catch in a season. He was also a good punt returner and very durable, missing only one game in his 10 years in the league. With him catching and blocking, my offense just stepped up to another level.

I saw someone ask about how many picks. Can I vote that we keep it at 26. 11 offense, 11 defense, K, P, Return Specialist and Coach?

Coach: Bill Belichick

The Glory

- 5 Super Bowl Rings (2 as DC for the Giants)

- Coach in the NFL since the late 70's

The Stats

- 3 Super Bowls in 4 Seasons

- 91-37 with the Patriots. 14-3 in the playoffs

- 36-44 with the Browns. 1-1 in the playoffs. Went 11-5 in his 4th season and went 7-9 for two straight years prior.

Regardless of "Spygate" he was a mainstay as a coach. He's most known for tag teaming with Bill Parcells but he's a genius at making adjustments in game and figuring out the little things opposing teams do, thus being able to win games. He's a pass happy head coach who's unafraid to make the tough decisions and is a perfect fit for my 3-4 defense.

And he's also had his team win 18 and 21 straight games... that's not easy.

There's a number of players I'd like to take here but hopefully at least couple of them will make it back to me. In the meantime, I'm gonna take my first currently active player.

Eklund_seahawkhutch.jpg

Steve Hutchinson

5x Pro Bowl selection (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007)

5x All-Pro selection (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007)

That's a bad man right there. Hutch (along with Walter Jones) helped make Shaun Alexander an MVP-caliber player, and as soon as he left Seattle, Alexander went to shit (to be fair, there were other reasons, but Hutch's departure was a big part of it). Once Hutch got to Minnesota, he helped Chester Taylor turn in a 1,200-yard season and now he's helping Adrian Peterson become one of the best backs in the league. He signed a record contract for a guard (7 years, $49 million) so he's also helping future great guards get paid.

Time to get my QB, I guess.

QB Dan Fouts

20814_282wh.jpg

Career Highlights and Awards

6x Pro Bowl selection (1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1985)

NFL 1980s All-Decade Team

1982 NEA NFL MVP

2x PFWA NFL MVP (1979, 1982)

1982 NFL Offensive Player of the Year

2x UPI AFL-AFC Player of the Year (1979, 1982)

1979 Pro Bowl MVP

San Diego Chargers #14 retired

San Diego Chargers Records

254 passing TD's

43,040 passing yards

Boosh.

It's been 16 hours since MFer's pick, so that means it's me.

9342q92c.jpg

Bill Parcells

2x AP Coach of the Year

Sporting News Coach of the Year

2x Pro Football Weekly Coach of the Year

Maxwell Football Club Coach of the Year

2x UPI NFL Coach of the Year

2x Super Bowl Winner

1990's all decade team

Took a New York Jets team that went 1-15 in 1996 to the AFC Championship game just two years later.

Turned a 2-14 Patriots team into division winners in just two seasons.

Turned a 5-11 Cowboys team in to winners (and he's pretty much responsible for how good this past year's Cowboy team was).

Coaching tree includes Belichick, Coughlin, Crennel, Payton, Mangini, Sparano, Weiss, and Al Groh.

Yeah.

Man, two missed picks this round? Oh well, easier to get the players I want, I guess.

p1_thomas_zach.jpg

Zach Thomas - MLB

7x Pro Bowl

7x All Pro

1041 career tackles (+ 598 Assists)

17 INT's (+ 35 passes defensed, since they started recording that stat in 01)

16 Forced Fumbles

19.5 Sacks

Voted "Smartest Defensive Player" in an ESPN Coaches poll.

I want another playmaker on defense, and this guy always seems to find his way to the ball. Outside of his tackle numbers, none of his stats really jump off the page, but there isn't much he can't do on defense. I also like having a LB that can play some pass coverage to complement the pass rush from my other Thomas.

About Fouts? I have Marino.

Whoops! Totally missed that. Anyways, moving right along.. I can't believe this guy hasn't been taken yet. I've actually been targetting him for several rounds, but haven't pulled the trigger because I felt I could catch him later. I don't think this guy could- or rather, SHOULD- last any longer than now.

Martin,Harvey6.jpg

DE/DT Harvey "Too Mean" Martin

Career Stats

Sacks 114

Games 158

Interceptions 2

Career Highlights and Awards

* 4x Pro Bowl selection (1976, 1977, 1978, 1979)

* 4x All-Pro selection (1976, 1977, 1979, 1982)

* NFL 1970s All-Decade Team

* 1977 NFL Defensive Player of the Year

* Super Bowl XII MVP

As one of the few NFL DPOTYs left (if maybe the only one), Harvey was the cornerstone of the famed Cowboys' "Doomsday Defense" on the line. He was one of the first great pass rushers (along with Willie Davis, the guy playing on the other side of my all-time great line) and had 20 sacks in one season (Cowboys franchise record), immediately followed by a 14 sack season. Since I don't have a whole lot on my defensive line, Martin instantly boosts the ability I have there, and gives instant credibility to the defense.

Now I'm just afraid I probably won't get the guy I was targetting to be my middle linebacker, but I didn't think I'd get him anyways, so c'est la vie.

I seem to be doing an excellent job of stealing picks. First Faulk, then Davis last round.. etc.

I didn't count on him being around, but yeah, I would've picked him too. It's okay though. I need offensive players.

There's at least one guy (maybe two or three) out there that I'm shocked hasn't been picked yet...
