Jebus 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Alright, I'll be the one to start this. Draft Mania has invaded the Movie Board!!! Hooray for originality!!! Simple concept: Desert Island. Solar powered TV/DVD player. 20 movies of your choosing. Go! Rules: - Serpentine draft rules (I figure 20 rounds is enough) - 12 hour timetable to make your pick. If it expires, the next person on tap can make his selection. If you've missed your turn to pick, you may do it at any time once you come back. - Please PM the person who goes next and let them know it's their turn. Please include a pic (preferably a movie poster) and a brief explanation of why you chose that particular flick. In the end, TSMers can vote for who ended up with the best overall collection. So far, I can't think of anything that would be ineligible...okay, Porno. Other than that, it should all be good. Any questions or doubts regarding films, PM me. Then, I still have to randomly draw the order of the participants and THEN it's draft time! Please delete your pick for now, Les Yeux Sans Visage. Doesn't count. godthedog 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 what the hell, i'm in. i don't think i'm in much danger of other people taking my picks. 20 rounds is a pretty long way to go, if there ends up being 15 or more participants. the music draft started 3 months ago, and it's still going. what about ten-to-fifteen rounds? CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2008 I guess I can't go wrong by picking my favourite movie: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) Probably the greatest action/adventure movie ever made, and one of Hollywood's most enduring icons. There's just so much that is right about this movie -- Harrison Ford's perfect portrayal of Indiana Jones, the unforgettable action sequences, Paul Freeman as the wonderfully nuanced antagonist Rene Belloq, the great John Williams score. It's as enjoyable a movie as I could imagine.
treble 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2008 Vertigo I love this movie. The first half or so is nothing special, but once the big twist is revealed, it's amazing. One of the few movies that's given me goosebumps. The best Hitchcock movie that I've seen.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2008 I'm going to have one of those lists that, when it's over...only I'm probably going to like. But it's MY ISLAND dammit So I'll begin with the movie that makes me laugh more than any other movie I've ever seen: Ed Wood I'm to the point with this movie that I laugh at every single line in it. So It's probably the movie I'd most want if I had to pick only one I could watch. So that makes it my first pick.
Jingus 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2008 I'm picking this one first, because it's so personally important to me that I'd have to fite any poser who tried to get it before me. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Damn it Charlie Kaufman, get out of my brain. Jim Carrey plays me, Kate Winslet plays the girl I most regret having lost. And even aside from a bunch of eerie similarities to my life, it's just a damned amazing, beautiful, joyous film. Better than the best.
Jebus 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2008 Okay, early low blow with Eternal Sunshine being gone. Shake it off, man! Anyway, while I recuperate, here's my pick: Pulp Fiction Why? Cause it's Pulp Fiction! Don't need to sell this one... One of my top 3 favorite movies of all-time (they interchange depending on my mood). Great dialogue. Great stories. Great characters.
