Bernie Kosar doing that Browns-Lions preseason game last year while (I'm guessing) completely blasted was a treasure trove of drops for sports radio stations. MarvinisaLunatic Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 Instead of the game vs Atlanta, Im going to the game next Saturday night vs the Vikings. $50 for a ticket right on the 50 yard line (section 127, 9 rows back behind the Ravens bench) including Stubhubs rediculous $20 for Fedex Overnight even though Ive got a week to get the tickets, but at least I had a $20 coupon to knock off the shipping.

Guest Cal Moriarty Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 So, this "fan crackdown" that Goodell is implementing: I can't afford to go to Bears games and I wouldn't really want to, so have things really gotten that bad that there needs to be some "fan code of conduct" and added restrictions on tailgating (another thing in this world that I just don't get AT ALL) just to make going to a game somewhat safe and tolerable? Maybe Goodell just feels bad that he's been so hard on stupid black people the last few years, and needs to bring the hammer down on stupid white people to balance things out.

A ticket in the same section for a regular season game directly through the Ravens costs $115, and on Stubhub its much more for such prime seats durring the regular season. Stubhub had some $9 tickets all the way up at the top of the stadium for the preseason games, but I didnt want to be sitting that high up. As it is, $50 for 50 yard line 9 rows back is a good deal to me even though its a preseason game, considering its my first football game EVER (I never even went to a HS game cause my HS team sucked really bad). and WFJF fumbles on his second play and it leads to the Pats first TD...ugh. Pats went for 2 and didnt get it so its 16-15 Ravens.

New York goes up 24-20 late in the fourth quarter but as the game winds down, Cleveland manages to drive from their own forty to the Jets' five where they get four shots at the end zone, the last play occurring as time expired. Not a bad showing for the Jets, even if their offense was inconsistent (points came almost entirely on three plays - two 70+ yard touchdown passes and a punt return) and the defense was porous at best.

I think they signed Gould to some absurdly long and large contract, so he's not going anywhere. Might as well build around your kicker and kick receiver when nobody else is capable of scoring points, I suppose. I don't really expect much out of this season beyond pleasant background noise during large Sunday meals or leaf-raking sessions.

There was that Incognito guy some years back with the Rams I think, now check this guy out Green Bay signed CB Scorpio Babers on Friday. Babers took the spot Favre vacated on the 80-man roster when he was traded. We got rid of Brett Favre, and signed SCORPIO.

yankovic fan Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 With Charlie Batch going down for the Steelers, the only depth at QB behind Ben is 2 rookies, Dixon from Oregon and Potts from William and Mary (and he's a Undrafted FA) so I'm wondering what they are going to do. It's not like in Green Bay where they have a 2nd rounder and a 7th rounder backing up Rogers. You have a 5th(?) rounder and a guy from an FCS school undrafted. If I'm just throwing stuff at the wall, since they were late on the Chad Pennington thing, I say they go for one of the leftovers in Atlanta or Miami. Is Leftwich and Culpepper still looking for work?

So I guess that Trent Edwards, Kyle Boller, Brodie Croyle, Jason Campbell, Grossman/ORTMAN, Tarvaris Jackson, and Jon Kitna are better options? And that the teams starting Aaron Rodgers, Carson Palmer, Matt Schaub, David Gerrard, Vince Young, Jay Cutler, Donovan McNabb, Jake Delhomme, Alex Smith, Drew Brees, and Marc Bulger feel totally and completely comfortable with their backups if their starters struggle and/or get injured? That's pretty much every NFL team off the top of my head that doesn't have 100% stability at quarterback. Culpepper was a great quarterback once, and Leftwich doesn't look like he's that bad, so seeing these guys have trouble finding new jobs is really quite something.

While Ort-Gross is the worst combination of QBs in the history of sports, those two FAs have injury histories to aggrivate their situtation.

I do know Culpepper's rushing abilities are severely limited now with all the times he's blown out his knee(s), but Leftwich looks like relatively undamaged goods that just got barely beaten out by a slightly better quarterback in Jacksonville, and needed to go because they couldn't handle the QB controversy any longer.

I have a feeling Harbaugh will go with Troy Smith as the starter and Boller at least provides an experienced backup for one more year.

I wonder how long the Vikings can ride the "Fake to Peterson, throw to a wide open man" offense before defense catch on?
