JN News 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2008 Last night, I was watching my custom DVD copy of WWE's Old School from WWE 24/7. I watched this MSG show from 1979, in which Vince McMahon was hosting. Before the WWF Championship match between then champion, Bob Backlund against Bobby Duncum, Sr. Finkel introduced this japanese guy which whom apparently was the "president" of the WWF at that time. I forgot his name, though. Who was he, and does anyone know the story of the past presidents of the WWF, prior to the late Jack Tunney?

JN News 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2008 Hmm. I seem to remember back in 2001 with old WWF title history section on WWF.com, where the WWF actually recognized Antonio Inoki winning the title from Bob Backlund during the tour of Japan. That was then. Now, the WWE totally refuses to acknowledge that situation.

JN News 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2008 WWE doesn't acknowledge the Inoki title reign anymore? That's retarded. It makes me wonder if there is/was any heat between Antonio Inoki & Vince McMahon in any way. If Vince, Jr. refuses to acknowledge anyone doing anything in the past under the WWWFE roof, I tend to think that's because he resents that person. Maybe Vinny Mac resents Inoki. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 Doubtful - WWE.com did a story a few years ago about Antonio Inoki visiting WWE HQ (the article was infamous for giving incorrect info about Inoki's standing in NJPW and his current residence). I wouldn't read too much into the situation - it's their kayfabed legacy that Backlund is only a two time champ and his first reign went several years without interuption. There was a show on 24/7 recently where Backlund actually won the "vacant" title from Greg Valentine in an angle that only existed in MSG.
