General Plans: - The return of TSM as an abode for quality conversation and information in all topics. - The removal of the "inside" nature this board has. We want every poster to feel welcome and informed here. - No flaming, trolling or insults, except for the NEW Gulag. - No "ganging" on perceived poor posters. i.e. When masses of posters complain about Marvin, WP, Deon, goldengreek. This has been a serious problem, and will cease immediately. Take this stuff to the Gulag. - When we disagree with a poster, we express ourselves with superlative information and debating skills, in the hopes of educating others. - Bannings will be rare and only used as a last resort. If a poster has shown they are capable of any productive conversation, I do not want to lose them. If a poster breaks a rule to a troublesome amount, they will receive a temporary suspension where they may only post in the Gulag. - All previously banned posters will be allowed back, except for obvious spammers. A clean slate is necessary to fix previous problems. - Larvae is gone, along with any unnecessary groups. - "Comments which don't warrant a thread". Gone. - No name changes. - We will follow the rules and not make any decisions based on personal disliking of one another. Specific Forum Plans: Wrestling/MMA - My goal is to bring the knowledge we had during the nikjohns days, without the elitism. This requires a general attitude change. Less dumping on new and markish posters. Educate those on how to be a smark at forums.thesmartmarks.com. Other than that, we are pleased with the direction of the wrestling area. I also don't think 24/7 is deserving of its own forum, but we can discuss this later. Current Events - Echo chambers are not going to be tolerated. We will welcome posters from every political affiliation. A political forum thrives on debate, which may sometimes get highly spirited. This does not mean personal insults will be allowed, however. My plan for moderators here is to have posters representing both Republican and Democrat sides. Sports - A severe attitude change is necessary here. The elitism started by former leaders will cease immediately. Some homerism is acceptable, but less than we have now. TSM is a national board, and we do not only wish to hear about Massholes, New York sports, or the Ravens. Mega-threads will no longer take place. We want single topics that focus on discussion, not a bunch of random posts that wander aimlessly. Television & Film - Less fanboyism, which we've seen lately for certain films. We're mostly fine here, though. Music - I don't venture in here much, however, I know of the posters that usually do. No elitism. No "Secret Board" like nonsense will be tolerated. This includes the prospective moderator. The Rest of Pop Culture - I will combine Comic Books into a Literature forum. Technology and the Food folder will remain. No Holds Barred - Will now be called The Gulag. I originally wanted to remove this "anything goes" forum because it has lost its original purpose, but I've been talked out of it for the time being. Anything goes. And I mean it. No moderation whatsoever (except for posting anything illegal like child porn, or spamming/flooding/bumping old posts for no reason). The other exception would be if a poster does not wish to take part in this stupid bullshit (i.e. if Jericholic82 or Czarina Leena complains about insulting him/her, or going too far), then pertaining topics will be removed. Also, this will be the only place where any suspended posters may post. Love, Sex, & Dating - No. Fuck you misogynist kids. Like you should be giving relationship advice to anyone. This will now only be the Porn forum. E-Feds - Whatever. As long as they don't result in any extra cost, I don't care. Graphics/Testing, Draft Faggotry, Marketplace, Site Feedback, Classic Threads, or Former Main Site stuff will be deleted. *Prospective Moderators These are the moderators that I first wish to help me in making the NEW TSM a success. I have not asked them if they are interested, and this is subject to change before April. These decisions are based on who I feel have the most knowledge, level-headedness and ability to maintain a forum. As should be obvious, personal feelings are not being factored in. I will be the only Admin (other than Mike), and moderators will only have power in specific forums. I feel like I had a hand at reviving General Wrestling, which is regarded as probably the best of the wrestling folders. I also try to do my best to avoid internet beef.

I can always move on to Wrestling Classics or another board dedicated to old school wrestling. I'm just afraid of what will happen to my General Wrestling brethren if I get shit canned. Diamonddust and MilleniumMan831 will be crushed and demoralized if you get rid of me and my half dozen running threads there. If you eliminate me, you eliminate the heart and soul of the third most active wrestling folder. Like I said, make the choice. Can agree with this to a point, although I'll admit to being curious why Al's being booted as Mod (too hands off?). I love a good back/forth debate as much as anybody but I largely stick to talking about the Boston teams because they are who I follow and I don't have enough merit to talk at length about other specific teams (i.e. talking about Oakland or the Mets as opposed to the Red Sox) so I let others handle that. I'll happily chime in on certain players/news but we do have a decent split in terms of what teams are talk about. Part of the issue is when someone like a Dama lives in Oklahoma but cheers for the Celtics, it showcases more of a slant to say Boston, as opposed to him offering his thoughts on the Mavericks or Spurs instead. Off the top of my head... - Cartman, King, Me, Max = Boston - Czech = Chicago - Al = Philadelphia - NoCalMike = Oakland A's (off the top of my head) - Marvin = Baltimore - VX = Green Bay/Wisconsin Area - Dama = Oklahoma Sooners - Dirtybird = New York area My Existence: Talk about I-AA Football in the college threads and bounce around in terms of discussion that I find interesting (see the Rickey/Rice HOF thread for example). I pre-dominantly post in the Sports Folder, not much in the game threads, but I'm usually somewhere if a debate arises.
