It Looks Like Austin Is Gone For Good

The impetus for tonight's Raw was apparently that Steve Austin walked out before the show in Atlanta, unhappy with creative issues, causing the main segments to have to be re-written. With Austin gone, the company went into a major creative overhaul with the idea of re-creating the Vince McMahon vs. Ric Flair program, which as best we can tell, was not a one night deal, to have the so-called star power on top to try and replace Austin.

Wrestlers were told tonight that this does not spell the end for the split, although there is nervousness about that because of the declines across-the-board."

It looks like Austin will be gone for good this time, what with them doing a major overhaul of storylines and pretty much writing Austin out of them.

One down!  Three to go!  (Taker, Rocky, and Hunter.  I can tolerate Hogan)

Well, he's had a good run. Dangerous Alliance, Hollywood Blondes, Monday NyQuil, Survivor Series '96, WrestleMania 13, Austin vs. McMahon, Austin Loves McMahon, and Leader By Example.

But it looks like he's been made an example.

Screw this bullshit about Austin being unprofessional, he's hands-down the best wrestler to combine ring skill and interview skill, second only to Ric Flair. He's earned the right to complain about the shit that is WWEeeee. Remember not wanting to job to Hall because he'd just fall off the wagon and get shitcanned again? He was right. I guess it's better for Steve, at this point, to just disappear than to be shit on for the remainder of his contract.

Deep down, I'm a Stone Cold mark. Sue me.

I think Rocky's gone.

Now just find someway to get rid of the Taker, and Hunter.

Rocky's not gone. On Confidential, he announced that he'd be back.

How is having two of the top five wrestlers in the world (Eddie and Benoit) lined up as your current and future opponents being "shit on?"

Note to Vince: please don't cave in to this guy again!

HHH is going nowhere.

He'll own this company one day.

I, too, am a Stone Cold mark.

I can't wait to see a Stone Cold shoot interview.

Oh no, I'm not talking Eddy and Benoit, I'm talking stupid stupid things that would eventually happen. He'd be punished with crap like losing to Planet Stasiak or being in dumb skits.

If I were to side with Austin on this, I would be preaching a double standard, and so would many of you. I'm a big Austin fan, always have been always will be... but the fact of the matter is, he walked out on his job tonight. He truly spit in the face of authority, and if this were any other job in America, he would've been promptly fired (and might be tomorrow. Time will tell.)

I sided with Vince over Bret during the Montreal Controversy because of the simple fact that Vince was the boss and Bret was the worker, and when Vince told Bret to drop the title, Bret should've done it. Not only for the good of the company but because the boss told him to do it.

The same goes for Austin. We don't know the complete story yet, but if what I'm hearing is true, the man completely went against his boss, and for doing so should be promptly released

If Hogan did this people, you guys would be ALL over him. And THAT my friends, is hypocricy at it's finest

Complain?  Sure.  Walk out shortly before a LIVE show, screwing over everybody and forcing a total re-write?  No, I don't think anybody should have that right.

How many times is this card going to be played?

If you bother to look around the board there are like 2 people taking Austins side...a majority are not.

So what is the point of this statement?

Eh, I never bought the "Do what your boss tells you" shit. Though, I will say that Austin is being a dick in this situation.

The point isn't hard to understand, read it again

I didn't say that a majority of you are taking Austin's side. I said those that praise Austin for doing so while talking out the other side of their mouths bashing Hogan for throwing hissy fits or whatever, are practicing the highly skilled art of hypocrisy

I am taking Austins side.

As the article said, he wasn't notified until a DAY BEFORE what he was doing on RAW.  A guy like Austin, the biggest draw and star in the Wwf should not be treated like that.

There needs to be change in the Wwf, hopefully this will spark it.

Did I read that wrong or is Meltzer saying that they are going to make Vince v. Flair the top program on RAW? Ric Flair. Your 50 year old top babyface. This keeps getting scarier. They have to shoot RVD and Booker to the top immediately. There's literally no other options at this point.

It will be interesting to see if the RAW rating collapses without Austin since he was their biggest draw.

What's the point of there being any bosses then? Maybe Tommy Dreamer should've told Vince that he wasn't jobbing tonight since he wasn't going to do what the boss told him to do.

Too bad Austin didn't put over Eddy before he left. Vince shouldn't let him back. This is the second time Austin has walked out since Wrestlemania, he's made his money, he's left his legacy, he'll be missed. Hopefully he won't become bitter like Bret Hart and Bruno.

I think its pretty much a lock that the ratings will collapse. RAW was horrible this week (understandable though) but without Austin the future looks bleak at least for the time being

I'm not jumping to conclusions by saying Austin won't be back because it's possible this will get resolved just like last time he walked out after WrestleMania

but if it doesn't, we're looking at the possibility of within a few months, a WWE without

Rock

Austin

Angle

I hope it does, they fucking deserve it.

I hope Austin does get released, just for the record. I applaud that he took a stand, but it's unreal that he should be kept around. Let him get fired, but at least give him a "last supper" so to speak.

I should've elaborated but I'm lazy.

Austin sees the product is shit. Just about every smark (whether we 'matter' or not) does as well. He might just be fed up with imcompetence. When it looks like nobody, including the boss, knows what they're doing, I'd be just as frustrated as he was. He has stroke. He can speak his mind and be heard, while others have to eat the shit Vince serves and like it. In this situation, he has a point. He's not right, but he's got a point.

JERICHO!!!!

JERICHO ROCK AUSTIN ANGLE GONE?!?!?!?! Jesus Christ those guys with the exception of HHH, Hogan, and Taker, have been the champions of the past what, 3 years??? AHHHHHHHHHHH

I'm not going to take any sides on this because not enough information is known about it, but I'm going to miss Austin.

IRONY -- Bret is unceremoniously dropped like a sack of potatoes from the WWF when his and the company's interests conflict, leaving the path wide open for Austin to become the biggest star ever.

Well lets see.  I hope that the intention of McMahon winning was to end the brand extention sooner than later, because without Austin, who is there on RAW that will draw any semblence to ratings on a consistent basis?  They think the ratings are bad now..

OK, I see what you're saying now. I thought you were advocating mass anarchy among the wrestlers.

What point does Ric Flair have now? If he does become the top babyface for Raw then that is messed up. Now we have the Champ, Women's Champ, and Vince on both shows. Uggh. Of all the angles to do, this could've possibly been the worst. Couldn't they have just given a few extra minutes to the matches and just tried to regroup? Instead they hotshot some angle that has all the makings of a stinker. I don't care what people are saying I think the split is in danger of being axed. The whole point of the split was Vince and Flair couldn't get along so they split their rosters. Now that Vince owns both, what is the point of the split? I don't think the WWE will go out of business or anything like that, but this doesn't look good for future business.

Fuck Austin.

He demands a feud with Eddy Guerrero and gets it- and then walks out in the middle of feud that was supposed to be one of the main attractions of a PPV???

Austin basically screwed over two wrestlers in Guerrero and Benoit.

Since Backlash he pretty much has been made to look unbeatable including one night where he basically fought off the whole RAW roster and beat Booker T.

I don't feel sorry for him at all.

Wow, it's strange to think that if Austin is indeed gone from WWE and he wanted to keep wrestling, his only option would be the Jarrett-owned NWA:TNA.

Karma can be a horrible bitch goddess.
