Taking A Break Part 1

Hello Everybody! Randomly updating this thing because I haven't since Feb apprently. Sorry about that. there's no excuse for me not updating this...just haven't done it.   So since I haven't updated this thing in such long time, I'll go ahead and talk about a few things that I've done here and there.   The first thing I'm going to discuss is my experiance working for a new company out here in CA called Big League Wrestling..or BLW for short. They were using DMW's ring so I got automatically booked to Referee at the show because I'm also apart of DMW's ring crew as well as a trainee. So we get there, set up the ring, and I'm under the impression I'm the only Referee at the show, later I find out from the promoter that I'm not the only other Referee. Which was nice because I really didn't feel like Refereeing 8 matches in a row.   The other Referee was a guy named Ronnie who Refs for another promotion out here in Bay Area. It was my first time working with him even though he's been around Refereeing for years. I guess he only Refs for this one promotion or if that promotion has influance somewhere else, he'll go and Ref for the company his main company has influance in.   So as I'm waiting to time pass and show time to come closer, Ronnie is not there yet and the promoter tells me what matches I have for the night. Which was 1, 3, and 5, which was basically all the matches that had DMW folk in them. I was fine with that, but I was hoping to get half the card and Ronnie could take the other half, but the promoter didn't know me and my history with just about EVERY wrestler working BLW, except Chris Masters and Relik. They were also on the show but I'm going to talk about them in a minute or so. So after hearing my line up, Rated 2-G, who are a tag team from LA who've I've worked with quite a bit, requsted my Referee services as well. The promoter agreed and now I had Matches 1, 3, 5, and 7...basically all the odd numbers.   The show starts around 6 and every one is there, the main event for the night was Chris Masters vs Relik. I was looking forward to meeting Relik as I've always been a fan of his and when he showed up, he was a really nice guy. First thing he did was walk around the entire kitchen turned into a locker room and shook everyone's hand and was really friendly throughout the night. Really easy guy to walk up to and talk to. Masters also did walk up and shake everyone's hand when he showed up....but to be honest, and this isn't a knock against him or anything, but he just seemed like he didn't want to be there. He just seemed he wanted to get through the night and get ouf of there.   I go out there and Ref the first match, get done, go to the back and watch the 2nd match happen as I want to watch Ronnie Referee......I can't my opinon about his Refereeing (counts way to fast) skils. During the 2nd match, Rik Luxury (who was also working the show) asked me who was doing his match,the 4th match. I told him Ronnie and I was informed it was actually me. Ronnie ended up telling the people in the match that he didn't have it, which puzzled me because I was never informed of the Ref match listing change till right then.   The 2nd match ends and now it's the 3rd match. Which was one of the DMW guys vs a guy who works with the same company Ronnie works in, (sidenote: I'm advoiding names here for good reasons.) who also holds a belt that was on the line. Before I walk out for the match, I noticed that Ronnie had not returned to the back yet, which puzzled me. I walk out there and I see Ronnie standing in the ring, waiting for the wrestlers to come out. I tug on my shirt and point to myself to give him the sign I have the match. As he's getting out the ring to walk past me, I pat him on the back and tell him I have the next 3 matches. Which was match 3, 4, and 5.   I get into the ring and about 20 seconds later, I turn around to see Ronnie getting back in the ring. I ask him what he's doing and he points to the promoter who is now ringside. The promoter gives me the "come here" sign and I get out of the ring to ask the promoter what's going on. He tells me he screwed up and that Ronnie actually this match and I get pist. I go to the back and I'm asked why I'm in the back instead of out there from the guys in the back. I explain to them what happen and they're not happy about it either. A few people have an idea on why I was switched out of the match as a Ref but I'm not going to go into that here as I have no clue who will read this.   So the match ends and I go out for match 4, still pist about what happen but it's over and hopefully nothing like that will happen again. Match 4 goes well and now we hit to intermission....which is half an hour long. Long intermission but people were signing autographs and Relik was in the ring taking pictures, so it's understandable why intermission was so long.   Now it's Match 5, which was Helfyre vs DMW Champion Jason Vega for the DMW title in the DMW's championship first road defense. When the match begain, the three of us did a little something. Helfyre climbed the turnbuckle to get a cheer from the crowd, then Jason did the same thing, then Helfyre repeated the turnbuckle crowd cheer as did Jason. After they both did it twice...I decided to do it as well. So I do it and the crowd cheers...yay. The match goes on and Helfyre ends up beating Jason to win the DMW Championship.   After the match we go to the back and I peak out the window to watch the match 6 and what do I see? What's the first thing I motherfucking see? The two wrestlers and Ronnie the Referee do the same excat thing Helfyre, Jason Vega, and Myself did with the turnbuckle crowd cheering. It just pist me off more. First he got my match switched and now he pulls that crap? Fuck him. It actually kinda backfired though because I know people in the crowd found it really dumb that they just did the same excat thing myself, Jason, and Helfyre did and actually doing it the match after ours. If anything, it just put me out there because it just made people think of the three of us doing it, so I guess it favors me and Jason and Helfyre in the long run but still...fuck him.   I'm alright though because 2 of the 4 matches he was suppose to originally Referee (this was before he got my match switched at the last minute) in, the wrestlers involved in those matches told me how they wished or wanted me to Referee their matches as I know what I'm doing and how I know my place in matches and how I can keep up with the guys involved in the matches...while Ronnie...while to be blunt..Ronnie sucks and he made it painfully obvious that night.   The BLW show itself was cool. I had fun doing it other than the minor problems I had with Ronnie that night, but the show itself was fine, but sadly that is most likely the last show I'll be doing with BLW as......well...I plan on taking a long break really soon.

The Return of WCWA

Two weeks ago, WCWA returned. WCWA was the promotion I started training with in California back in mid 2005, but closed it's doors by the end of 2006. When I found out that WCWA was returning, I was pretty happy about it. It was going to be nice working for them again. I never got a chance to Ref for WCWA when I started out as I was just there sound guy and training and I actually didn't start learning on how to Referee until I was training with Devil Mountain.   Going to go Referee for WCWA was a kind of intimating, I really wanted to impress my old trainer and wanted to show how much I've come along since I was just a skinny kid who couldn't bump for shit and was very arkward in the ring....Granted I'm still a skinny kid but I've improved a lot since then and I really wanted to show that I have.   The first show back was a tournament to crown a new WCWA champion along with a 6-man suicide elimation match. This was the match list for the night.   Match 1: First Round Tournament Match: Luster The Legend vs "Insane" Mike Rayne   Match 2: First Round Tournament Match: Shane Dynasty vs "Original Gangsta" Mustapha Saed   Match 3: First Round Tournament Match: "The Battle of Itlay Vinnie Massaro vs Vennis Demarco   Match 4: First Round Tournament match: Paul "The Wrecking Ball" Isadora vs Mother Truckin Otis   Match 5: Second Round Tournament Match:   Match 6 : Second Round Tournament Match:   Match 7: 6 Man Suicide Elimation Match; Rik Luxury vs Jason Vega vs El Chupacabra vs Adam Thornstowe vs Tenacious Tim Anderson vs Mikey "The Dragon" Hyashi   Match 8: Final Round of the WCWA Championship Tournament   and now here are the results....   Match 1: Luster the Legend beat "Insane" Mike Rayne via pinfall after hitting the Legend Bomb   Match 2: "Original Gangsta" Mustaphs Saed beat Shane Dynasty via pinfall after hitting a powerslam   Match 3: The Battle of Italy match between Vinnie Massaro and Vennis Demarco went to a double countout   match 4: Paul "The Wrecking Ball" Isadora beat Mother Truckin Otis via pinfall after a big boot.   Match 5: Luster The Legend beat Mustapha Saed via DQ by speical Referee U.S. Steel after Shane Dynasty planted brass knuckles on Mustapha Saed.   Match 6: Paul "The Wrecking Ball" Isadora got a bye in the tournament because Vinnie Massaro and Vennis Demarco were double counted out   Match 7: El Chupacabra won the match after eliminating Rik Luxury.   Match 8: Final Round for the WCWA Championship Tournament Luster The Legend vs Paul "The Wrecking Ball" Isadora, Luster The Legend won via pinfall after a roll up on Isadora to become the new WCWA Champion!   Overall it was a pretty fun show to work. I got to Referee 3 matches and got to work with Referee Kristina McGraw who I haven't worked with since BRAWL's last show some odd months ago, so it was really nice getting to Referee with her again. The 3 matches I got to Referee that night was Dynasty vs Mustapha, Isadora vs Mother Truckin' Otis, and the main event of Luster The Legend vs Paul Isadora. Plus I was told by my old trainer that I was did a good job that night, which was great.   Refereeing the Dynasty/Mustapha match was pretty cool for me as it offically made it so I've Ref'ed both ECW Gangstas New Jack and Mustapha in single matches.   I can't wait for the next WCWA show as this past WCWA show back went really well and hopefully things keep going up hill for WCWA from here on out.

....Newman.....

Later today, I head down to CCW. I haven't been at CCW for the past two months. Lacks of funds and schduling conflicts, I couldn't make it, but I'm working the show later today.   It'll be nice to go back to CCW. I really like the locker room as the locker room is filled with guys who just want to put on a good show and have a lot of fun. Plus it should be pretty intresting because of where the locker room is. The locker room is outside and it's been raining pretty much all week long. So depening on how the weather is.....it's either going to be foggy along with cold or cold and wet, good times.   The main event will be unique as it's 3 stips rolled up into one big match. So it's a cage match, with a "I quit" match, and the wrestlers get to bring their own weapons. So it's a weapons, I quit, cage match between Vinnie Massaro and The Big Ugly. It should be pretty fun to watch, granted if I don't have to leave first because it becomes to late.   I only real problem with working the CCW shows is that it's kinda far away from where I need to be before midnight. See every Saturday, I go to Oakland to help put on the Rocky Horror Picture Show and I have to be there preferablly before Midnight...and Newman is an hour in half away from Oakland. So for me to make it to Oakland in time, I pretty much have to leave at 10:00 then haul ass to Oakland to make sure I make it up there on time. It's a bit of a pain but I really enjoy working both shows, it just sucks that I have to do them back to back and that their so far apart.   I'll post results of the show in the indy thread when I'm able to, oh and before I forget. I've decided to try and showcase Nor-Cal Pro Wrestling here on Thesmartmarks.com. I noticed that I'm pretty much the only one who tries to promote the Nor-Cal scene and only a handful of people bite onto what I'm promoting. So what I decided to do is work with some of the guys who film the wrestling shows out here and post what they film on this forum.   So if you head over to the Indy Wrestling forum part, look for my most recent thread and watch a few matches that took place a number of months ago. Right now there are two videos up, one from a SPW show that took place a while ago in Sacramento. It's about an hour long and the main event is a barefoot thumb tack match, and to let you guys know ahead of time, I'm not in that video and it's a hour long. The whole video was made for tv.   However, I am in the 2nd video. The 2nd video is Sheik Kahn Abodi defending his BRAWL Internet Championship against El Chupacabra at BRAWL a few months ago and I'm the Ref. It's about 15 minutes long, but it's good times.   So go and check out those videos and leave comments and feedback.

Taking a Break (part 2)

[Writer's Note: This post is going to be a very open post, so if you're a friend or someone who I know from the wrestling buisness (wrestler, Referee, fan, or whomever) please do not be upset if you read something you don't like. I'm just being very honest and open here about my personal life. I hope you all understand. Thank you for reading.]   In the middle of May, I had gotten pretty sick. I wasn't throwing up blood or anything, but my body was in pain, a lot of pain. It wasn't non-stop pain, but it was random shots of pain in different parts of my body that last about 4 days, but during those 4 days I was pretty worried about my well being. I had a lot of trouble sleeping, I had a lot a trouble being at work because it affected pretty much everything I did at my job, weather it was lifting title or just driving, the random shots of pain in random body parts would want to make me stop doing what I was doing and ride it out until I felt better...but I never did that.   I couldn't take a few days off of work because I needed money to pay my bills, but at the same time I couldn't afford to go to a doctor because I didn't really have the money to go, plus my job screwed up with my benefits and for whatever reason, I never got a medical card. During the 4 days that I was sick and in pain, I took some time and kinda thought of where my life was going and I realized I wasn't happy with the way my life was going.   I kinda realized that financially and personnally, I wasn't in a good place. Financially, I made 14 dollars an hour, but I was barely getting by on my bills and if something happen to the point where if I had an emerancy or if my car broken down, I didn't have anything saved up to try and take care of those things. For someone who makes 14 dollars an hour, there shouldn't be a reason why I'm having trouble paying my bills.   Personnally, I was starting to miss out on a lot of things. My very good friends were having a baby and invited me to come up to the Sacramento area to come and meet the baby for the first time, but I was so busy with shows and being on the road, I couldn't go. I felt horrible. There were other things that happen on weekends as well that I just couldn't do or go to because a weekend was swamped with a wrestling shows, or something always seemed to fall on a day I had a wrestling show. It really felt like I was revolving my life around Pro Wrestling instead of revolving pro wrestling around my life and to be honest, it was starting to bug me, but the way my financial being was, was what was really bugging me......a lot.   In March I had re-taken a warehouse job that laid me off due to cut backs in November of 2007 as a second job. The job I already had was just a temp job, so when the warehouse job called me and asked if I would come back because they had a job opening since an employee had been fired. So I took it, once the temp job ended at the end of March, the warehouse job became my only full time job, which I knew was a gamble and it became more apprent at the end of April and the beginning of May and that's when I got to wondering if I should stay with the warehouse job....then I got sick and that's when the wheels in my mind got to turning about where I was in life.   So I kinda got to thinking about things and just realized I wasn't happy with the way things were going. My job, while paid well, was either a dead end job that really gave me no experiance when it came to other jobs that I could do or it was a company that was really on the rocks due to the bad real estate market and could lay me off at a moments notice or could just close down and because I really didn't have anything saved up, I wasn't ready to be laid off again.   So I decided to do what's best for me and act like an adult and take care of what I need to and figure out what I need to do to make my personal life better. So I decided to sit down and take a real hard look and think about things and figure it all out. I decided that I needed to take advantage of my job's schdule and go back to school and learn something that could really benefit me job wise, something I could fall back on, something that I know it won't be something useless, but at the same time, I need the time and money for me to really get going, so unfortunaily, I needed to cut back on one thing I really loved doing, and that's Pro Wrestling.   While I love being in this buisness, it's a big drain of my wallet, between training to be a wrestler and the gas prices of traveling to shows, I was spending a lot of money, but that's mainly my fault for doing so many shows that I was doing on a weekly basis. Some weekends, it would only be one show, then in another weekend it would be two shows, some weekends it was even three and it just got to a point where I was spending so much on gas and milage it was starting to affect my bills.   I also put a lot of time in pro wrestling. I was training two to three days a week and/or I was doing a show or shows every weekend and I knew if I really needed to put the right amount of focus on my life and my working career, I would have to take the focus off pro wrestling and stop spending so much time doing it and start spending a lot of my time on my personal life and career.   It was a hard choice, but in a long run, I think it will just be best if I took a break and focus on what I need to. After I had gotten better from being sick, I went to my trainer Helfyre's house early before a training session and sat down and talked to him about my choice and while I knew he wasn't happy with my choice, I knew he understand. The ironic twist in this entire thing 5 days after I told Helfyre about my choice...the warehouse job laid me off again. What I wasn't ready for and what I wanted to have a plan for, blew up in my face 5 days later after I told Helfyre about my choice. If anything that was really a kick in the teeth for me.   I finished out my Referee dates with my last show being on June 21st. June 21st was really a timeframe for my 3 year being around in Pro Wrestling in Nor-Cal, and I started it training with Helfyre in WCWA, I felt it was best for me to have my last show, be at Devil Mountain Wrestling, which is his promotion and also the promotion where I had been training and learned how to Referee.   So want to know how I'm kicking off my leave from pro wrestling? My 2007 Pro Wrestling Career Review

There's still only a few more weeks of 2007 but wrestling wise, there's no more shows I'm apart of. So I can go ahead and give 2007 a review wrestling wise.   2007 was a great year for me wrestling wise. I did so much and I accomplished a whole hell of a lot, in such a very short span of time. If you would have told me in Oct. of 2006 that I would Ref outside of California, work with former WWE/ECW wrestlers along with current TNA wrestlers, Referee at the Cow Palace, and to end it all, work with the Great Muta, I would have laughed at you, but by the end of 2006, it was all starting to become a reality.   It really all started back in November of 2006 when Helfyre asked me if I would like to go to Oregon and Referee for a promotion called BAW. I didn't know it a the time, but that's pretty much when all the crazyness of what I was really going to do in 2007 would start. BAW is what really set things off for me. It was the first time I Ref'ed out of the state of California and it was the first time I would have worked with fromer WWE/WCW/ECW wrestlers along with current (at the time) TNA wrestlers. It was where I got to meet and work with New Jack, Spike Dudley, and Molly Holly. BAW also gave me a lot more confindence when it came to Refereeing.   To be honest, before I went to BAW I didn't feel to comfortable being a Ref. There was just something about it, that made me keep thinking I wouldn't get it or I would be just pick of the litter Referee, but BAW made me feel differently. When I Ref'ed for BAW, the fans hated me...but it was a good kind of hate...the kind of hate wrestlers want to get from crowds. The Promoter and the Booker loved me as a Ref and would always tell me how I was doing a good job and the wrestlers loved working with me. It made me want to Referee more and more.   Ok, I'm getting a bit off track here, this post is going to become a BAW love fest instead of a 2007 year in review before to long. So BAW is what really jump started things for me and from there, wrestling wise, just continued to climb.     TRAINING:At the start of year, I re-started my training to become a Pro Wrestler. I enjoyed Refereeing but I didn't get into Pro Wrestling to become a Referee, I got into Pro Wrestling because I wanted to be a Wrestler. I think training was the only thing that brought me a lot of my lows wrestling wise throughout 2007. There were always times where I felt like I was getting it, I was understanding and doing/taking moves and understaning wrestling psycology a lot more but there were a lot more times where I wasn't getting it. Weather it was understanding how to give or take a move correctly, understanding the psycology of something or trying to do a stand-still front flip bump. Man I hate trying to do that. At one point I actually was able to do it, but we took something like a week in a half off from training because the ring was down and when we got back to training...I competely forgot how to do the front flip bump and still can't really do it to this day. I'm getting closer to remembering how to do it, but still quite pull it off again.   Though I guess I got the aspect of it enough to have my first offical pro wrestling match. It took me 12 months but hey, I got to have it. After 12 months straight of training, my trainers felt good enough to give me my first match and I'm glad they did. I felt more comfortable going into the match because I trained for so long, because I got to learn the craft of Pro Wrestling in a 12 month span. I think any earlier I wouldn't have been ready as I was for the match last Saturday as I was after training for 12 months.   DIFFERENT COMPANIES: At the end of 2006, I was only working for a hand-ful of promotions. BRAWL and CCW were really the only companies I was working for. I was with Devil Mountain Wrestling but by the end of 2006, Devil Mountain wasn't running any shows, we ran one in Sept. but after that, Devil Mountain Wrestling didn't have a show after that till mid-2007. So by the end of 2006, I was already working for BRAWL and CCW and just started working for BAW up in Oregon, and I really wanted to work for more companies as a Referee. So I actually made a New Years Resolution to work for those extra companies and I did.   By the end of 2007, I have worked with and Ref'ed Devil Mountain Wrestling (DMW), California Championship Wrestling (CCW), Barely Regulated American Wrestling League (BRAWL), BAW (I have no idea what they were actually called other than BAW.), North American Wrestling (NAW), and Supreme Pro Wrestling (SPW). Then their was the whole WrestleFanFest thing...technically that's not another company but fuck it, since it was put on by someone else, I'm gonna count it anyways. It's my blog, I'll count it if I wanna. (lol)   I'll admit while it was fun working for all those companies, it made my weekend life/schdule really hectic. There were a lot of times my schdule for a weekend looked like this....   Friday: BRAWL (BRAWL normally ran on Fridays) Saturday CCW or DMW (either show normally run on Saturdays), then the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Sunday: NAW or SPW or BRAWL (Either show normally runs on Sundays, and every once in awhile BRAWL would run on a sunday)   So after working BRAWL on a friday night, on Saturday I'd either have to wake up really early to set up for the DMW show that was taking place, or I'd have to leave my house by 2 or 3 o'clock and make a hour to one in a half hour drive to Newman to work CCW, then after working either show, I would have to leave the show and make my way to Oakland and hopefully get there by 11:30 to help put on the Rocky Horror Picture Show. After Rocky Horror, I would get home normally by 4 Sunday morning. Now for Sunday shows, I have to get up around noon to make it to each show. SPW shows start at 5, so I have to be there by 3. NAW shows start around 7:30 normally but because they're about an hour in a half away from where I live, I have to get up between noon and 1 so I can get ready to go before my ride comes and picks myself and my roommate up. NAW shows also run really really long, because they're done at a bar/club. So a NAW show will start at 7:30 (usually) and run close to midnight. So after the NAW show, i'd get home around 2 in the morning and when I was working. I'd get a few hours of sleep then have to be at work by 6 in the morning Monday morning. Here's what my schdule would look like altogether with weeekends like that.   Thursday: work 6 am to 2:30 pm, Training @ 6:30 pm   Friday: Work 6 am to 2:30 pm, BRAWL @ 7 pm, had to be there around 5'ish.   Saturday: CCW @ 7:30 pm, had to be there before 5 pm, or DMW @ 7 pm, start setting up for show at 10:00 am. After working either show, drive to Oakland for Rocky Horror, have to get there before midnight.   Sunday: NAW @ 7 to 7:30ish, leave house around 3 pm or SPW @ 5:00 pm, have to leave house by 2 pm or work BRAWL which took place at 6 pm, had to be there by 3:30 pm   Monday: Work 6 am to 2:30 pm, Wrestling Training @ 6:30 pm.   That's how a schdule could look for me at times.   Even though I was dead tired come Monday...I loved doing those types of weekends. I really did.   Will I work for more companies next year? To be honest, I honestly don't know. There are a few more companies here in the Bay Area that seem to be sprouting up, but they haven't contacted me about Ref'ing for them. I do know that I'm schduled to work for BTW (Big Time Wrestling) in Jan though, so that's already a new company right there, but I'm also not working job wise right now so it'll depend on if I can afford the gas to get back and forth or not.   BIG NAME WRESTLERS:Throughout 2007, I got to work with or be on the same show with a lot of wrestlers who work or have worked with WWE, WCW/NWA, ECW, TNA, and Japan. Here's just a list of them;   New Jack, Molly Holly, Brother Runt (Spike Dudley), Kamala, Rikishi, Al Snow w/ Head, Blue Meanie, Steve Corino, D-lo Brown, The Great Muta, Gangrel, Team 3D (The Dudley Boys), The Stiener Brothers, Slick (Slick was ribbing me the entire night), The Sandman, Francine, Babydoll, One Man Gang, Orlando Jordon, Diamond Dallas Page, Mean Gene Okerlund, Eric Bischoff, Barbarian, Warload, Scott Norton, Raven, Dr. Death Steve Williams, Tonga Kid, and I think there's a lot more names, I just can't remember them all. Some of them I got to work closely with while others I met for a few seconds and they most likely don't remember me.   But yeah, if anyone ever told me before 2007 I would meet and work with those people, I would have laughed at you. Never in my wildest dreams would I ever think I would meet all those people or even ever get to work with them. Some I still talk to today and I'm still pretty good with, others I've met once or twice but were all nice to meet and a good number of them have said I do a great job as a Ref. There's nothing better than hearing that a former World Champion loved your work in the ring, it's a awesome feeling.   2008: What will happen with me in 2008? I have no idea. I don't think anyting could really top 2007 wrestling wise for me. I was able to do so much and accomplish so much in 2007. I think really the only thing that could top 2007 would be wrestling in more wrestling matches, maybe winning a title for a company other than Devil Mountain Wrestling (I wouldn't feel right holding a title in the company that trained me, well not for quite awhile anyways.), and getting to work in another big show. Sorta like what WrestleFanFest was...just better organized. Those things might help make 2008 a better year than what 2007 was for me, but first before I even think that, I need to work on getting a new job so I can afford gas to make it to these other shows.

It's Been Awhile....

Ok time for a update and I'm sooooo very sorry I haven't really updated this blog for awhile now. I've either been busy or just to lazy to take the time to type one or a few out, I'm sorry, but to make it up here's a overall update on things.   First off, so I finally moved out of my mom's place and moved into my own place a few weeks ago. I mention this for a reason, that reason, my roommate used to be a Godfather Ho. So thats worth mentioning.   Update on Training: Training...is going well I guess. I'm still very sloppy in the ring and it seems once every two weeks, I'm either hurting myself or actidently hurting someone. It's very frustrating, the last thing I did was actidently give Helfyre (my trainer) a black eye. We were doing a practice match and he was going to give me a pumphandle/t-bone suplex, he threw me over but I somehow managed to hit him in his eye with my left elbow. I felt sooo fucking horrible afterwards. I guess what I was suppose to do was tuck my arms to my inside on the way over but I didn't know that and in mid-air I bent my arms so I could bump correctly, and thats how I caught him in his eye. I still feel horrible about it.   Another issue I seem to be having is with front flipping. I'm having difficulty flipping straight over and then sticking my landing on the mat. Its sorta a few things, 1. I can't spring (being light on my feet/jumping up high) very well, so I'm sorta low to the mat when I go over and I fear smashing my head into the ring. 2. For some reason, I keep tucking my right arm causing me to flip more to the left and not straight over, also a issue with me front flipping, but on Thursday last week, Kenny K came through to help out and he said I should try to tuck my left arm and see what happens, so I did and I went over more straighter, but now I just need to work on getting some height on my flipping so I don't go so far across the ring.   One thing I have been trying to learn and really excel at is chain wrestling, as I've always been a fan of it. We're learning bit by bit and I'm trying really hard to remember a lot of it, I've picked up on a little bit of it but we'll see how I do as I go.   Wrestling Shows: Everything seems to be going well with me doing shows.   CCW: CCW is going extremely well. They're drawing good big crowds and these crowds are hot! They're loud through the entire night, for every match, it's a awesome crowd to draw. I'm very pleased to be working with them as I'm having fun being a Ref for them and hey! they allowed to Ref my first title match.   BRAWL: BRAWL's running decently. They've started running twice a month, one Friday and one Saturday a month. The Friday Night shows do great, BRAWL draws a pretty good crowd on the Friday night shows, but the Saturday shows...not so much. BRAWL has to run at noon on the Saturday shows due to the rules the fairgrounds have laid down for their Saturday shows and it seems people either can't or don't want to come to a wrestling show that is running at noon. I mean, people do show up, but its not in a great number like the Friday night shows. Other than that, BRAWL is fun as well. I'm still just their sound guy but I'm thinking about asking for another role, though I'm not to sure yet. I won't be at their show this friday because I'll be in Oregon, working for BAW so for this show their using a new sound guy and if he works out pretty well, I may just ask to do something else, but we'll see how that goes.   BAW: Working for BAW is a trip for me. First, its in Oregon, so working out of state so early in my Referee career is a bit weird. I figured I might work out of state way down the road, but early is good too. Second, BAW mainly uses bigger names on their shows, by bigger names I mean former ECW/WCW/and WWE names and just like working out of state, working with and meeting all these bigger names, just like working out of state already, has been a trip as well. I mean, i've already met New Jack, D-Lo Brown, Spike Dudley, Molly Holly, Tonga Kid, Rikishi, and Kamala and on Friday not only do I get to see New Jack, D-Lo Brown, Rikishi, and Tonga Kid again, but I also get to meet Daffaney (Lucy), Raven, and Brian Christopher. I'm really looking forward to meeting Raven and listening to anything he has to say as I've been a fan of his for years now and I think he's one of the best guys to watch and listen to about in-ring psycology.   One complaint I have about working with these companys, really have nothing to do with the companys themselves, but the show schduleing sorta sucks. It seems that these three companys always run during the same weekend. Like this weekend, BAW and BRAWL run on Friday while CCW runs on Saturday, so my weekend will be, fly out to Portland Friday Morning, work BAW show, fly back to Oakland on Saturday morning, then a few hours later, make a hour in a half drive to Newman to work the CCW show, then I have to haul ass up to Oakland to work Rocky Horror. So I'll be doing 3 shows in two days, and Sunday...i'm fucking relaxing and I'm hoping no one really runs during Wrestlemania weekend, that would just be chaotic for me....well maybe not, who knows.   So yeah, there's been a update on whats been going on. I'll TRY to update again after this weekend. If anything if I have some time, I will diffently try to update during the few hours I have to spare on Saturday, but no promises.   Till next time Scroby out!

Did You Miss Me?

Hey everybody, I'm actually making a new post! Hooray for you! Truth is, even though I haven't updated in awhile....or for a very long time anyhow, I'm actually kinda bored and cooking dinner while waiting for Letterman to come on, so I figured I'd take the time to post something since I haven't in a long while.   First things first, for those who haven't seen the posts in the Indy Wrestling thread, Devil Mountain Wrestling (where I'm training) has been running shows for the past few months. The shows have been going really well, I really haven't heard anything negitive from any of the fans who have gone to the shows, so I'm very pleased about that. We have another show coming up on the 13th (next Saturday) and I'm looking forward to it. Mainly because we're having a Halloween Battle Royal. The Halloween Battle Royal is just a royal rumble type of battle royal except all the people in the match dress up as other wrestlers or in some type of costume. I'm actually going to be in the match, I know what I'm going as but I'm going to wait until after the match happens to actually post what I went as and how it went, and yes I'll post about it, sooner or later.   Speaking of Devil Mountain Wrestling, training has been going.....umm..alright. About a month ago, I thought I was doing really well, I actually figured out how to get my body to get a front flip and it seemed I was getting things more and more, but then we took about a week in a half off after the last show, and it all seemed to just go away. I forgot how to front flip and it seems, I'm getting more and more sloppy with learning moves. Mentally I can figure these things out but phyiscally, I'm having a lot of trouble. I don't know why all of a sudden it seems I have forgotten everything I have learned, hopefully I'll be able to get back to where I was before we took that week in a half off.   I'm also about 90% sure, I won't be continuing my wrestling training in the beginning of 2008. When you train with DMW, you sign a contract. One contract, the first contract, (I think this contract is still around.) you sign a 3 month contract to see if you want to stick around after 3 months. The second contract is a 1 year contract. Basically you train for one year and if you decide to stop training because it's not for you, you still have to finish the payments. My contract ends in Jan. 2008 as I started in Jan of 2007.   There's a few reasons why I'm pretty sure I won't keep training at least in the beginning of 2008.   1. (The Main Reason) I just can't afford to pay for another year. It's a monthly payments but currently money is really tight and to be honest, the stress of living pay check to pay check is something that's really taking a mental drain on me. So I think it's just best to wait a little bit and get my money issues straighten before I put more effort into my training.   2. I would like more free time, wrestling training is either 3 to 4 days a week and sometimes I don't have a lot of free time and there's some stuff I still want to do and learn. For example, while I do have a good job at the moment, within a few years it'll most likely a dead-end job. I think I want to go back to school and learn a trade so I can get a job that most likely won't be a dead-end job. I'm thinking I want to become a electriction or a plumber.   3. I'm really enjoy Refereeing. I'm having a blast doing it, and everytime I do a show as a Ref, I enjoy doing it more and more. I'm really thinking about just being a Referee. Yes, when I first got into it, I wanted to become a wrestler but with my troubles in training, Refereeing just feels right. I'm not a 100% sure right now, but I'm really thinking about just being a Ref, so after my training contract ends, I'm just going to Ref for a few months and see where it takes me.   Now that doesn't mean I won't get back into the ring and re-start my training down the road. I just want to take a few months to take care of things in my personnal life and see how I feel about just being a Ref.   Being a Ref is going really well for me at the moment. I'm now pretty much working for all the promotions here in North California except for two. One being APW and the other is PCW. I actually can't work for PCW, I've been asked to come up by another Referee, but PCW normally runs on Saturdays in Oroville, and Oroville is something like 2 hours towards Sac...actually past Sacramento and I have Rocky Horror on Saturdays, so traveling a few hours in the opposite direction of Rocky isn't really a good idea. I don't work for APW...well because it's APW and I have no desire to work for them, but I am working for just about everywhere else and I couldn't be more pleased with myself.   I'm now Refereeing for Devil Mountain Wrestling, California Championship Wrestling, BRAWL, NAW, and I just started Ref'ing for SPW. SPW also runs a show called Punkslam and I've been asked to Ref for that show as well as long as my schdule lets me. Punkslam is basically a Wrestling show that has Punk bands playing live. I've actually never been to one myself but I hear they're really fun to work. Not only am I working for all those promotions but I'm also (currently) schduled to Referee the Malice at the palace show that's taking place at the Cow Palace in San Fransisco for the WrestleFanFest wrestling convention and it's also schduled to air on Pay Per View. So it's a big thing for me. Depending on how well I perform at the show, a lot of MAJOR doors could open up for me, so that's a big thing.   So right now, other than my actual wrestling training going from better to "what the hell happen?", things have been going good Refereeing and show wise. I'm Ref'ing all over the place and every show I do is doing great.

Scroby Meet Thumbtacks...Thumbtacks Meet Scroby

On Sunday night, I was in Modesto, Ref'ing for a promotion called N.A.W. or NAW if you say it as a sound, for the first time. Anyways, I got to Ref 3 matches.   Match 1: Mark Vega vs Kenny K vs Kassy Summers in a triple threat match to find out who will be interim champion for Chupacabra's NAW Light weight title.   Match 2: Was Jason Vega vs Sheik Kahn Abodi   and Match 3: was a hardcore match with Pogo and Rage vs The Body Snatchers   Match 1 and 2 went well. Match 2 ended kinda intresting. Jason Vega is a member of the Stepfamily, the Stepfamily consists of Jason Vega, Stepfather, Kiara Dillon (my roommate)....and Otis the Gimp, and when I say Otis the Gimp...if you have ever seen Pulp Fiction...yeah like that...except worse...OTIS IS LOOSE!   So the 2nd match ends with Sheik Kahn Abodi picking up the win over Jason Vega after hitting a Asai backwards ddt...well after I make the 3 count, the step family all come into the ring and I'm trying to back them off Sheik...but Otis see's me...then starts stalking me. Otis grabs me by the back of the head....and gives me a GIANT MAN KISS!!!!!!!!! I need hot water and I need it fast, so after what seemed for 5 minutes, Otis the Gimp lets me go and I quickly crawl the FUCK out of the ring and run to the back to find the nearest sink and lots of soap.....I forgot how horrible soap tatses but damnit it tasted better than Otis The Gimp's kiss.   After 30 minutes of washing my mouth, my next and final match of the night was next. This was the hardcore match between Pogo and Rage vs the Body Snatchers...and of course this match was insane. Pogo, Rage, and the Body snatchers used a lot of dangerous weapons. They used a chain, a singapore cane(kendo stick), a staple gun..and a knife...but that wasn't it..no no my friends...something else came into play..something I didn't see coming a mile away.   At one point during the match, Pogo and both Bodysnatchers and myself were all outside the ring. I was trying to get those 3 back into the ring and restore some order when it dawned on me that Rage wasn't anywhere near us. I looked back into the ring and there stood Rage...pouring out a bag full of THUMBTACKS INTO THE RING! Yes Rage had now brough a whole hell of a lot of thumbtacks into the ring. A few minutes after Rage poured the bag of thumbtacks into the ring, both Bodysnatchers isolated Rage in the ring and was able to pin him after they hit Rage with a singapore cane shot to the head. While the bodysnatchers were getting out of the ring, for somet stupid reason, I stayed in the ring..and that was my mistake.   Pogo had came back into the ring and as soon as he got in the ring, he quickly came over to me and kicked me in the stomach. The next thing I knew I draped over on Pogo's shoulder looking at the crowd and the ring filled full of thumbtacks. Pogo with me on his shoulder, backed towards a corner, ran to the middle of the ring and powerslammed me to the ring......right in the middle of the pile of thumbtacks....IT HURT LIKE HELL. I was laying there, rolling around screaming in pain, and when I thought things couldn't possibly worse...I felt someone else start to pick me back up. I took a quick glance to my side and there was Pogo....and I then realized that Rage was picking me up...and I knew it wasn't going to be good.   Rage stuck my head inbetwen his knees, he then flipped me up onto his shoulders and powerbombed me back onto the thumbtack filled ring....I don't remember what happen afterwards. I just remember opening my eyes and seeing Sir Samuari to my left and Referee Brandon (other Ref working the show) to my right with my arms draped over them, and both of them dragging me back to the locker room. I also saw that I had a thumbtack stuck in my left hand.   I got back to the locker room, and I laid down on my stomach until I got my barrings back. After a few minutes, I slowly stood up and looked myself over in the mirror. Surprisingly I didn't have any tumbtacks in my back or my legs, or my neck. I had the one in my hand, that I forgot about for a second and pulled it out. Pulling it out didn't feel that great either. I went to the bathroom and washed all the blood of my hands and went back and laid down.   After a little bit, I came out of the locker room and got myself a drink. Like I said earlier, the show was happening in a bar. I was walking very slowly as my back still hurt like hell from landing in that pile of thumbtacks...twice. I got a screwdriver and headed back to the locker room so I could drink it in piece but on the way back...a lot of fans and wrestlers asked if I was ok. I told them I would be and continued my slow walk back to the locker room so i could drink my screwdriver.   After finishing my screwdriver, I slowly walked back to the bar to return my glass. When I got to the bar, there was a small group of people there, 2 guys and 2 girls...I'm guessing they were all in relationships with each other espically since one of the girls was pregnaught, they asked me if I was ok and I told them I would be and we ended up talking for a few minutes. During that few minutes, the pregnaught girl asked me if she could have my Referee shirt. I gave her a puzzled look and asked "huh?", and she said she would like to have my Ref shirt. I thought about it for a second and reminded her it had blood on it but she didn't care. So being the nice guy that I am, I slowly walked back to the locker room, went to my bag, grabbed my Ref shirt and slowly walked back to the bar and gave the girl my Referee shirt and she was really happy and she thanked me. After I gave her my shirt, I slowly walked back to the locker room feeling a whole lot better mentally.   After the main event, I stuck around for a bit longer and talked a little more with the fans who were there and then said my good byes and went home. Even though I got a running powerslam and powerbombed into a giant pile of thumbtacks I still had a lot of fun and the fans asking me if I was ok, was a great icing on the cake for the night. Espically with the girl asking me if she could have my Ref shirt. I thought that was pretty cool as well. All and all I really enjoyed working for N.A.W. and I can't wait to work for them again in June.

The Wrestlers and the promotions

I feel I should introduce you to the local wrestlers and promtions. That ways I don't have describe each one in a blog each and every time.   The Wrestlers   A.   A Pimped Named Virgil: Met Virgil while at WCWA, wrestles as a light heavyweight but has held world champions throughout various promotions. Is one half of the BRAWL tag champions with Money Mike Rayne.   Adam Badapple: See T-Rizz   Alexis Smirnoff Jr.: Does a evil russian gimmick, modeled after Alexi Smirnoff.   Anton: Trainee at DMW, he came in with a friend, while his friend stop due to "Practice taking to much of his time.", Anton stayed and continus to train at DMW.   Axe Murder, Piercton Steel: Met him at WCWA, liked to show me and train me on chain wrestling before WCWA shows.   B.   Blackie: Was co-booker of WCWA, also is a heel manager and is a ring annoucer.   Bonzai Bruce Bukakke: Used to wrestle through out North Cal, but is now training with Harley Race.   Bitho Cruz: 1/2 of the Cruz brothers   Buddy Sotello Esquire: CCW's top heel manager   C.   Chicano Flame: Masked mexican wrestler   Chica Calienta: I have no clue how to spell her last name right, masked wrestler, teams with Super Mexico   Cyanide: Met him at BRAWL, not sure of his history. BRAWL's current U.S. Champion   D.   D-Lo Brown: Former multiple title holder with the WWE. Met him at the 1/26 BAW show and got to have dinner/breakfest with him after the show.   D-Unit: Also known as Dede Badapple and teams with his brother T-Rent through out North Cal. I believe he is also a co-owner of BRAWL. Member of the Surburban Commandos   Dave: Another trainer I had at WCWA, wrestles under mulitple gimmicks under a mask. His main gimmick in which case doesn't wear a mask is U.S. Steele. Also helps train at DMW.   Dede Badapple: See D-Unit   DJ Rizz: Wrestles singles and tag matches, he normally teams with D-unit as a team called The Surburban Commandos and is also the current BRAWL Internet Champion. I also think he's also a co-owner of BRAWL but I'm not really sure on that one. Member of the Surburban Commandos.   Doug E. Bucks: Does the evil commish gimmick at BRAWL.   E.   EL Chupacabra: Used to go by El Hiro De Chupacabra, but dropped De Hiro. Current GZW champion.   El Flaco Loco: Top masked wrestler in Norcal, was the last Pacific Rim Ring Of Fire champion for WCWA, mainly works SPW shows.   Eric West: Former trainer I had at WCWA, I haven't seen him since the last WCWA practice in Jan, he moved out of state.   F.   G.   Gweedo: One of Norcal's top Ref's, BRAWL's head Ref.   H.   Helfyre: One of my former trainers at WCWA. Now runs Devil Mountain Wrestling and is also running a training school as well.   I.   Izzy High: A BRAWL Ref.   J.   J.J.: One of Norcal's top ring annoucers, also co-owns CCW.   Jason Vega: Another trainer I had at WCWA, he now helps train at Devil Mountain Wrestling. Also the last WCWA champion.   Jesus Cruz: 1/2 of the Cruz Brothers   Jody: New student at DMW   Josh: Trainee at DMW   K.   Kassie Summers: Pretty much the only woman wrestler in Norcal. There are others but they mainly work APW shows while Kassie works all over Northern California.   Kenny K: Trained by BRAWL but looks like he is heading east to train with ROH.   Kiara Dillon: Valet for Jason Vega also at one point was a Godfather Ho for the WWE.   L.   Luster the Legend: Wrestler I met at BRAWL, one half of the team called "The Reno Boys."   M.   Malachi: Wrestler I met at CCW, the other half of "The Reno Boys" tag team with Luster the Legend.   Mike Blaze: Wrestler I got to work with at BAW   Mike Modest: One of the top Indy Wrestlers, got to work with him at BAW.   Money Mike Rayne: Does a pimp gimmick, met him at BRAWL, at the moment is one half of their tag champions. Also runs a promotion called NAW.   Mother Truckin Otis: Wrestler I met at WCWA while he was doing another gimmick. Really nice guy.   Mr. Frost: In the group The Honor Socitey with Sir Samuari, trained at SPW   N.   Neil: Trainee at DMW, both him and Josh entered training together.   New Jack: Former ECW big name, if you don't know who New Jack is....how are you a wrestling fan? Met New Jack at my first BAW show, had dinner with him and D-lo Brown after the 1/26 BAW show.   O.   P.   Paul Brown: Owner and Promoter of WCWA.   Paul Isadora: 7 foot giant   Pogo The Clown: Former XPW star, now runs BRAWL and is the current BRAWL Heavyweight Champion.   Q.   R.   Ray Kejimora: Wrestler I met at CCW.   Rik Luxary: Wrestler who is also a co-owner of BRAWL.   Robbie Gilmore: Trained by BRAWL, wrestles as part as the team the American Missiles.   S.   Shiek Khan Abadi: Does a Shiek gimmick, met him at a CCW Show.   Sir Samuari: Don't let the name fool you, Samuari is a loud mouth heel white guy. Funny to watch but a guy you just love to hate. Leads the heel group called the Honor Socitey.   Sir Timothy Thatcher: The British guy of the Honor Socitey (I swear I'm spelling that wrong.), trained at SPW.   Super Mexico: Masked wrestler.   T.   T-Rent: Also know as Adam Badapple and teams with his identical brother Dede (D-unit) through out North Cal. I believe he is also a co-owner of BRAWL. As the Badapple team, I think they were the last WCWA tag team champions. Member of the Surburban Commandos.   The Big Ugly JD Bishop: One of the top Norcal Wrestlers, also teams with Vinnie Massaro to form the team of "The Cartel."   The Rock Legend Scum Adam Thornstowe: Current SPW champion, one of most over guys in Norcal and normally main events in promotions he works.   Tim: Was a trainee at WCWA, now trains at DMW.   U.   U.S. Steele: See Dave   V.   Vennis De Marco: Does a italian gimmick, trained at APW.   Vic Grimes: Former ECW/XPW wrestler. The bladie that fell on New Jack's face at a ECW show. Did a few shows for BRAWL.   Vinny Massaro: Current CCW Champion, also one half of "The Cartel" with the Big Ugly JD Bishop.   W.   Wage: Wrestler I worked with at BAW, asked me if I was in Mike Modest's pocket after he lost to Mike Modest in a match I Ref. Apprently Modest grabbed the tights but I never saw it.   X.   Y.   Z.         Thats all I can think of right now, if I remember more, I'll update this post with them and most likely will describe them a little bit in a blog.   The Promotions   All Pro Wrestling (APW): You've heard of them from Beyond The Mat, their promoter is Roland Alexander, and I REFUSE to work with them, but you might see me mention them from time to time so I might as well post who they are.   BAW: Promotion based out of Oregon, I am a ref for BAW.   BRAWL: Promotion based out of Antioch CA, ran and owned by, Pogo The Clown, Rik Luxary, T-rent, D-Unit, and I think DJ Rizz. I am BRAWL's sound guy.   California Championship Wrestling (CCW): New promotion thats drawing a lot of attention in Norcal. Was doing shows in Pleasanton CA but are now doing shows out of Newman CA, Co-owned by JJ. I am a Ref for CCW.   Devil Moutain Wrestling (DMW): Promotion ran by Helfyre, will be training there soon, currently I'm their Ref.   NAW: Promotion based out of Modesto, CA. Ran by Steele and Money Mike Rayne. I haven't been to one of their shows yet.   Supreme Pro Wrestling (SPW): Based out of Sacramento, I haven't been or have worked one of their shows yet but from what I hear, they're really good. Most of Norcal workers are based from SPW.   WCWA: Promotion where I started trained, at the moment is closed.     Well hopefully that gives you some insight on the wrestlers and the promotions around here and hopefully when you read my blogs I don't have to go through and re-explain who that wrestler or that promotion is. After 1st match thoughts

On Saturday night (12/15) I had my first offical pro match at Devil Mountain Wrestling. Well technically my first match was the Halloween Battleroyal that took place in Oct, but I'm not counting that match, so the match over the weekend was my first offical match.   The night started with me cutting a promo after the first match..that I fucking butchered. I kinda had certain points I wanted to get over but I think I tried to structure it to much and tried to hard to get those certain points over with the crowd, which caused me to over think and stumble over my words. I really really butchered that promo and felt really shitty about it afterwards. I actually heard Helfyre in the back yelling stuff during the promo...he had been doing that all night long as well. Helfyre was being really..umm..loud that night. Which was funny because even though we had a good crowd..they were dead for a good majority of the night. I didn't get it. Even with big moves, the crowd kinda sat on their hands, which was weird because it was pretty much our normal crowd. Luckily they did get loud for my match.   So I Ref'ed another match that night then after a little while longer, my match finally came up. It was a 6 man tag match, with America's Most Hated Anton Vorhees, Alexis Darevko, and Sheik Kahn Abodi vs The Fun Atheltic Guys Kimo and Chico and myself. The match started with Kimo working on Anton. Kimo got a early advantage and decided to keep tagging his tag partner Chico in. The Fun Atheltic Guys wouldn't tag me in. They felt they were protecting me from America's Most Hated.   At one point, Kimo and Chico were able to get all three members of America's Most Hated outside of the ring. Kimo and Chico invited me to come into the ring and celebrate with them...but they ended picking me up and throwing me to the outside on top of America's Most Hated. Here's a picture...     After being tossed out and on top of America's Most Hated, I threw Anton Vorhees back into the ring and returned to my corner. After being not tagged after a few more tags, Chico went for another tag of Kimo and I cut Kimo off and tagged myself in. I was tired of being ignored and wanted my chance to shine.   After being tagged in, I went right to work on Vorhees. I snapped him over with a snap mare and gave him a good kick to the back. I then picked him up and gave him a nice LOUD chop to his chest, backing Anton to the ropes. I whipped him off the ropes as I planned to hit Anton with a clothesline but instead, Anton did a Pa-lae (Aj Styles back flip kick) kick and caught me on top of the head. It all went down hill from there.   I proceeded to get my ass kicked for what seemed like forever. America's Most Hated kept me away from my corner and kept tagging themselves in and out. I was getting my ass handed to me as Anton Vorhees, Alexis Darevko, and Sheik Kahn Abodi kept hitting big moves on me but I was always able to cut out. Finally at one point, I caught my bearings and ducked a clothlines from Abodi and when I turned around, I caught Sheik's kick, I then spun Sheik around and gave him a stunner.   We were both down and out as the Ref started his 10 count on us. Sheik crawled over to his corner and made the tag, before the fresh member of America's Most Hated was able to catch me, I dove and tagged the fresh Kimo. Kimo came in and cleaned house and was on FIRE~! After a few minutes, Kimo and Chico hit a combo backstabber/double stomp on Alexis Darevko. I noticed that Anton was trying to sneak into the ring and I came in and cut Anton off and gave him a clothesline which knocked him back over the ring. Kimo and Chico told me to climb to the top rope and I did. When I got to the top, Kimo and Chico grabbed me and threw me off the top rope with me landing a splash on the fallen Alexis Darevko. I stayed on top of Darevko to try and get us a pinfall victory. Kimo and Chico put their hands on my back to make the cover that much stronger and the Ref counted to 3.   We had won the match. After the match, I celebrated with Kimo and Chico and did a "insult pray" to Sheik as America's Most Hated stumbled back to the locker room. After America's Most Hated got to the back, a good chunk of the DMW locker room came out from the back and made their ring to celebrate my first match. As soon as I saw Mike Hayashi and Helfyre come out from the curtain, I broke down.   At first, I was just relieved and happy that I actually made it through the match. After two years of on and off again training, after two years of doing sound and Ref'ing and doing other things at various shows, I finally got to have my first offical Pro Wrestling match and these guys, who I see as family, came out and give me that praise, just made me very happy. I was happy with how the match went, but seeing these guys come out and to tell me I did great put me on all levels of happiness and I broke down because of it. It became a very emotional thing for me but it was a happy emotional thing.   After the match was over, I broke down what I had to and packed everything up in my car and made my way over to Oakland for Rocky Horror and damnit I was tired and my back was sore (Dareveko lit my back up with chops) but I still made it through Rocky and the drive home. After I got home, I passed the hell out.   It was a good night and a good match but I think I'm going to put my next wrestling match on hold for right now and continue to Referee. I really enjoy Ref'ing at the moment and I feel I still need some more training before I start a full-time with just wrestling.

BAW Show 2/Portland Trip

Ok, since ECW is on and I'm just sitting here and watching it, I have some time to post about me working the most recent BAW show.   I flew out of Sacramento, really really early Friday (1/26) morning. Before my flight, I saw this big Samoan guy who looked really familar. He was on my flight, I couldn't put my finger on it, but he looked really really familar. Anyways, I let it go and we flew out of California a little before 6:30 in the morning. I got into Portland a little after 8 and Portland's airport is FREAKING huge! I couldn't believe how big it was, I felt like I was in a mall. I waited outside for my shuttle under these space heaters the airport has and after half an hour of waiting, I went to my hotel. My hotel room was ok, nothing special about it, I tried taking a nap as I didn't get much sleep Thursday night. The problem was, the hotel was putting new carpet in the rooms...and they happen to be putting new carpet in the room across mine. So sleep was pretty much out of the question. So after waiting a little while, Helfyre called me up to let me know he was picking me up and we headed to BAW in McMinnville a little before 4 in the afternoon......and we hit traffic all the way there. What should have been about an hour drive, turned into a two hour and 10 minute drive, granted we had to make a sidestop due to Helfyre forgetting his music and had to get a cd for the show, but it still took a lot longer to get there than it should have and I thought California Bay Area traffic was horrible, I really shouldn't complain about Bay Area traffic again after sitting in Oregon traffic, that shit was insane.   Me and Helfyre got to the show a little after 6...and the show started at 7. As soon as I got in the building, I said hello to some of the BAW rookies and the booker and went right to the back to get changed quickly. I didn't know how soon they needed me, so I got changed quickly. Of course I said hello to those in the locker room before I got changed, that would have been rude if I didn't and as I was getting changed, the big samoan I saw that was on my flight that looked familar but I just couldn't put my finger on it, well he was there! Turns out, that guy is the Tonga Kid. The guy who teamed with Haku in the early 80's of the WWF and made the team of the Islanders. Really nice guy, I introduced myself and continued getting ready. He also showed up with "Count Black Pearl", which is a cousin of the Rock and Rikishi. More and more of the bigger names were showing up. Kamala showed up, along with D-Lo Brown. Both were really cool to meet. I didn't realize how tall Kamala and D-Lo actually are, both are really tall, espically Kamala.   The show started at 7 and I found out what matches I had. I had the first offical match of the night, which was a tag match between Kimo and Chico Navarro vs Cosmic River and "The Ideal Reflection" Christopher Ryseck. Kimo and Chico are actually workers from North Cal. They wrestle out of a promotion called BTW or Big Time Wrestling. Cosmic River is a maked hippie wrestler who believes in Peace and puts the peace sign of two fingers up a lot. Christopher Ryseck I met that night and I really don't know anything about his backround. His gimmick is the guy who is in love with himself gimmick. As I got into the ring before the wrestlers came out, I took a second to look at the crowd and the crowd had grown since the last show, it was at least double the size of the last show and they were loud...really loud. The tag match went well. I almost screwed up as I didn't see Cosmic's foot on the rope but I saw it as the last second and stopped my count...well ok I hesitated and slowly put my hand down to make it look like I didn't screw it up. The end of the match resulted with a double team as Kimo hit a back cracker on River and held him so Chico could hit a double stomp on River, then Kimo pinned River for the 3 count.   The 2nd match I had for the night was "Superstar" Shane Matthews vs JB Luce. I had met both these guys at the last show. This was Luce's debut match, not his debut with BAW but his first offical match altogether and Shane Matthews wrestled Micheal Blade on the last show and I got to Ref that match, so me and Shane worked together before. Shane had a lot of heat from the crowd, the crowd just hated him. The match went well for all 3 of us and the match ended up with Matthews rolling up Luce and according to the results, Shane Matthews used the ropes to help pin Luce...I didn't see it.   The was my last match for the night, which sucked because out of 9 matches and only using two Refs (me and another guy), I only got to do two matches. I was really hoping to Ref a few more matches but it happens, you learn that about wrestling. I stayed in Ref gear just in case they needed and I just stood near the enterance and watched the rest of the show on the moniters we had. I did come out for two more matches, I came out for L'Empereur vs Kamala match. I collected Emperuer's gear for him and got chased around the ring by Kamala...that was really cool for me and I also came out for the main event. The main event was a cage match, which was New Jack vs Terry Bull. I came out and set up the cage and I stood ringside, just in case anything bad was to happen. This match was crazy as all hell.   It started with Terry Bull attacking New Jack during Jack's enterance, which spilled out to the crowd. After a few minutes and after both men were busted open, Terry Bull and New Jack got into the cage and I locked the door so they couldn't get out. The match ended with New Jack pinning Terry Bull after hitting a suplex on him. Yeah I know what your thinking "A suplex?" and let me take a second to explain why it was off a suplex, both guys beat the living hell out of each other with weapons and in the cage, it wasn't a pretty sight, there was really nothing more they could have done to finish it, so thats how it ended. Besides NEW JACK DID A F'N SUPLEX! How often do you see Jack wrestle?   After the show was over, myself and Helfyre geared up and got ready to go. Oh and before I forget Helfyre had a match as well. He wrestled a triple threat agasint D-Lo Brown and Count Black Pearl. All 3 guys had a good match that the fans ate up. As me and Helfyre were getting ready to leave, Tonga Kid asked if we could give anyone a ride and then the game of musical passengers. First were two luchadores and ater a few minutes, it turned out the two luchadores had a ride, so they switched cars. The next two people were Rikishi and Count Black Pearl. Oh yeah! Rikishi was also on the show, I just didn't get to talk to him much but when I did talk to him, he was a nice guy. So after a few minutes later, we found out we actually weren't going to give Rikishi and Black Pearl a ride to the hotel. The game of musical passengers was pretty much over so Helfyre started backing out of the parking lot and as we were backing up we noticed New Jack and D-lo was in the parking lot, kinda walking around aimlessly. Helfyre asked if they needed a ride and they did. D-Lo had to get to the airport as he had a late flight and New Jack needed a ride to the hotel. So now D-Lo Brown and New Jack are in the same car as I am! I'm secretly marking out in my head.   The car ride to the airport in Portland was a lot of fun. D-Lo and New Jack told stories from Smokey Mountain and their time with TNA and we all joked with one another. At one point I got ribbed because the windows were fogging up in the back (5 people in a car can do that) and for some reason my window looked like some kind of Zebra pattern and everyone in the car ribbed me about how I was freaking them out making the window like that. We also stopped so D-Lo and New Jack could grab a beer. I got to share a beer with New Jack as drinking wasn't good for him that night as he lost a LOT of blood due to the cage match. After about an hour of driving, we dropped D-lo off at the airport in Portland, about half an hour before his flight was about to take off. It was funny watching D-lo speed walk into the airport as he was somewhat drunk off the 40oz he had bought and drank very quickly. As we were pulling away, New Jack rolled down the back window and started yelling to D-lo "D-LO YOU FORGOT YOUR BEER!" over and over again, it was great.   After dropping off D-lo, Helfyre and New Jack wanted to get something to eat, I asked Helfyre if he could drop me off as I had to get up early so I could catch my flight and wanted to get some sleep but New Jack wanted me to come and eat with them and I can't really say no to New Jack, so I went with them. When we got to the resturant, New Jack got a phone call and it went like this "Hey!"...."your kidding?"....*new Jack puts the phone down and a bit and looks at Helfyre* "Can you pick up D-lo, he missed his flight." So off Helfyre went to pick up D-lo as myself and New Jack got a table. As we waited, me and New Jack talked about wrestling and how it was a bit surreal for me to be hanging out with him and D-lo. He told me a story about him and Kamala and we discussed about how he was going to be running a school soon and invited me to come out and visit sometime. Yes New Jack is going to be running a pro wrestling school soon, and he actually plans on training on wrestling. Jack knows how to wrestle...he just doesn't use it very often in his matches. After a little bit, D-lo and Helfyre returned and joined us. Turns out D-lo had the wrong time for his flight and was actually 10 minutes late for his flight. So we all sat down and had dinner..well Breakfest for me as it was late enough to where it was time for a early morning/late night breakfest. After eating and talking some more, we all finished and left the restuarant and I got dropped off at my hotel and of course I said my good byes to D-lo, New Jack, and Helfyre.   As soon as I got back into my hotel, I took a quick shower to make sure all the blood was off of me and then went to sleep. I had to get up early to catch my flight back to CA as I had the CCW show still to do. Which will be told in my next blog, which I promise will be up in the next day or two.....at least before the weekend.

tiny update

I'm going to post a blog or blogs about the BAW and CCW shows soon. I actually did a blog about BAW a few days ago but due to a site error, I wasn't able to post it and when I hit the back button to try and post it again, everything I typed out was gone. I should have some time tomorrow, so I will try and get up a blog about the BAW show tomorrow and maybe CCW on Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning. So yeah they are coming, I've just been busy to type them out...again but they are coming along with a update on my training.

B.A.W. Oregon Trip (Will be long.)

on Friday I worked a wrestling show as a Referee for the promotion of BAW in the motherfucking cold state of Oregon, and here, yes here on Scroby's blog, are the details of my journey from California to Oregon to work the BAW show.   My adventure began on Friday morning, at 4 in the motherfucking morning, as myself (Referee Toby), and indy wrestlers, Alexis Smirnoff Jr, Jason Vega, The Big Ugly JD Bishop, and Kassy Summers, all packed ourselves in a new Dodge Charger and left Sacramento CA and started making our way towards Oregon. It was a LONG freaking trip. The trip from Sacramento CA to McMinnville OR, took us about 12 hours, making very little stops...and myself getting very little sleep.   Nothing special really happened on the way up there, I heard a few stories from the wrestlers, we talked about other local promotions, and gimmicks and stuff like that as we made our way up there. Due to us getting lost a few times because Smirnoff can't apprently read his own writing, myself, Jason Vega, and Alexis Smirnoff got to the venue that was hosting the show in McMinnville OR around 4 o'clock. We had dropped off Kassy and The Big Ugly with two other wrestlers that had met up with us after we got into Oregon. The two of them would be at the venue later on.   It was very cold in Oregon, but I tired to not let it bother me much as I was excited to work this show. New Jack, Brother Runt (Spike Dudley), Mike Modest, and Molly Holly were also booked on this show as well and I was excited to meet them, plus all the other wrestlers on the show that I had never met before. Even though myself, Vega, and Smirnoff had gotten there around 4 in the afternoon and had been put in the wrong direction a few times, we were really the first workers there. The BAW Promoter, along with the head trainer Terry Bull, and some of the trainees and ring crew were there but we were the first people outside of the promotion to show up.   I don't know much about the BAW promoter or Terry Bull but both were very nice to me throughout the night, which I'm grateful for because it was a long ass drive there and I only had about 5 hours of sleep from the night before with maybe an hour of sleep on the car ride up there, and I really wasn't wishing for anyone to be a dick. When I had got there 3 of the trainees were working out a dark match that they were going to do before the actual show had started. After introducing myself to the people who were there and feeling out the ring a little bit, I pretty much sat back and relaxed and hung out.   After a little while, the owner of Devil Mountain Wrestling (my home indy promotion) Helfyre showed up as he was also booked on the card. Helfyre's gimmick...well is basically himself, Helfyre. I guess I would describe him as a Death Metal wrestler gimmick, but...not so much. Its sorta hard to describe what Helfyre's gimmick actually is, but if you want you can look him up on myspace under "Helfyre". After a little while longer more and more workers started showing up.   The Devil Mountain Trainees, Josh, Anton, and Neil showed up. Anton and Josh were both having their first matches on this show, while Neil made the trip to support the both of them. Neil and Josh are both close friends who both went into wrestling training together. Josh was going to have a match with Helfyre whose his trainer at Devil Mountain and Anton was going to have a match with Jason Vega.   As the night went on, more and more people showed up. I introduced myself to all the new wrestlers who I hadn't met before and also put my Ref gear on as the time got closer to show time. It was near 6:30 when Spike, New Jack, and Modest had showed up. I introduced myself to Spike and Modest and shook both their hands, with New Jack it was a little bit hard to introduce myself because he was pretty much getting settled in and figuring things out, so I just let him be as I finished getting myself ready for the dark match at 6:30.   Even though the show started at 7, the promoter and the booker wanted to have the dark match at 6:30 to try and get the crowd hyped up a bit before the show. It was the 3 wrestling trainees who were The Incredible Ty, Sir Latte (yes its a Starbucks coffee gimmick), and someone else whose name escapes me at the moment (like I said it was a long night). I got to Ref this match and it was a pretty quick match and the 3 BAW trainees did some pretty good spots as well with the match ending with Sir Latte stealing a pin on Ty after the 3rd trainee hit a swinging neck breaker on Ty. After the match was over, I went back to the locker room so I could get the run down of the card and the matches I was giong to Ref.   After waiting around a bit because I wasn't sure if the card was fully finished or not, this woman came up to me and I introduced myself to her and lord and behold it was Molly Holly! I didn't reconize her as she has (from what I can tell) slimmed down from the last time I saw her on tv and looks great. Not saying she didn't look great before hand because she did, but she looks even greater now. After I talked with her a bit and letting her know when what she was doing was up and when a match was, I had to talk with Terry to figure out what matches I was going to be doing for the night. I had the first, second, and sixth match of the night.   The first match was Micheal Blade facing someone whose name again escapes me at the moment and his name isn't on the BAW site yet, so I can't look it up there. The second match was going to be Jason Vega vs Anton, whose under a mask for this show, and the sixth match was going to be Mike Modest vs Wage. Yes folks I had Mike Modest's match! I felt like a lucky boy that night.   I'm not going to go into detail about how the matches went because I felt they all went fine and all 6 men that I worked with really liked the job I did as a Referee. Modest was very impressed with me and told me what he had liked about the job I had did. Modest had went out there with a ring on his finger and as I was "checking" him, I had noticed ( really didn't notice the ring) the ring. Before I rang the bell, Modest jumped out of the ring and grabbed a mic and told me to come here. So I very confusingly walked over to him and asked him whats going on.....he then explained to me how he had the ring on his finger when I checked him and didn't say anything and told me that he could have used that as a weapon. I hung my head down as he was telling me this in front of a live crowd on the mic. After the match was over, Modest had won with a small package, Wage who was still in the wrestling ring, was telling me that I made a fast count and started asking me if I was in Modest's pocket, then to make things worse the freaking BAW Commish comes over and says "Wage has a points, it looked like a fast count." At that point I just got down off the ring and went back to the locker room.   Afterwards, I went up to Modest to shake his hand, and return his ring (he had handed it to me after the promo) and he told me how he liked how I didn't do a Ref over reaction when he was cutting the promo on me and how he liked how I did just stand next to him and listened to what he had to say, like I knew I fucked up and I was going to listen to what he had to say....in reality I thought I had really fucked up, I honest to God did not see the ring he was wearing and he was cutting a shoot on me. Luckily it wasn't and Modest was really cool and I'm really glad I got to work with him and Wage, both really stand up guys.   As the night went on, I enjoyed myself. Everyone was just fun to be around and was just so freaking nice to me and all had positive things to say about my Refereeing, espically how I had the crowd hating me, even though I was just being a Ref. We actually had a 2nd Ref there and when he came out for the 3rd match of the night, the fans cheered for him and I also heard some fan yell out "Finally a good Referee."...God I love heel heat. For some reason on the 3 shows that I have Ref'ed for, I have been boo'ed or have gotten some kind of heat, its freaking great, it really is. After the show was over, myself, Jason Vega, and Smirnoff all headed back for California around midnight of Friday night, and I got back home in California after 10 in the morning, and even though I'm still tired, I wanted to post this as hopefully some of you would like to read it.   Now if guys don't mind, I'm going to leave you a little describtion of my experiance with the some people I worked with last night.   New Jack: Just fun to be around and a very cool guy. He was having a good time last night in the locker room and it was just fun to be around him.   Spike Dudley: Nice guy, I don't know what to make of the guy other than that. He was just a very nice kinda quiet guy.   Molly Holly: Ok first, she's hot! Chris Water's if your reading this, I'm sorry but......I MET MOLLY HOLLY, I MET MOLLY HOLLY!, ok I'm sorry. Molly is such a nice and sweet person. She's very cool to talk to and I'm glad I got to meet her last night.   Mike Modest: Like I said, very stand up guy, and I'm so happy that he was really impressed with my work in the ring with him. It also seems he lost a lot of weight as he's not as, and I'm not knocking him at all so no one take it like that, muscle massive as he used to be. He's still in GREAT shape but he's just slimmed down a bit.   Everyone else was just a pleasure to work with and hang out with in the back. Everyone was so nice to me and actually the wrestler Lonestar, who has his own promotion in..I think Kentucky gave me a invite to go Ref a show for his promotion out there. I really made a good impression and I can't wait to return on the 26th of Jan.   Well there you guys go, thats pretty much my trip to Oregon in a nutshell. I did leave some detail out because I felt this blog might get to long and I didn't want to do that. And I also know I said my next post was going to be about my time with the WCWA but I'll do that post later, I promise. I hope you guys enjoyed this post and all comments are welcomed.

How I Got Hit With A Chair

Yup, I took my first chairshot on Saturday night at the CCW show, but before I get into CCW. I'm gonna take a quick second to talk about the BRAWL Show I did on Friday.   The BRAWL Show started really sucky for me. Way before the show even started. I was doing sound for the night and one of the first things I hear is that something is wrong with the sound equipment. So I go looking at the sound equipment and I'm brought this cord. Now the actual cd player and the play button are on two seperate boxes...why I have no idea. So this cord, brings power from the cd player to the power box that has the play button and whatever else on it, and there's something wrong with this cord. So I'm looking at it and I notice that on one end of the cord, a few prongs are bent and the metal circle that suppose to protect the metal prongs is a bit smashed as well. So we're pretty much fucked on sound for the night. I tried a few things to fix the cord and that didn't work. We sent out Robbie Gilmore to a Best Buy and a Raidoshack to see if they had a cord, and they didn't. So as a last minute thing, I came up with the idea of having me "fired" because the sound wasn't working correctly. Luckily we didn't have to do that (Even though I sorta wanted to do the angle), because a kid said he had a stereo system. So I took this kid back to his place to check out his stereo system and its little system with small speaker. We ended up grabbing it and I had to use it for the entire show...and the music was really low because of it. Other than that, BRAWL went really well for the rest of the night. Now onto CCW and me taking my first chair shot.   On Saturday, I got to Referee for CCW once again. They were holding a tournament for their newest singles title, the Westside Championship, and also having a Heavyweight title match and also just a regular match. It was me and this other Referee named Alan. There were two other shows going on in other cities, so Ref's were sorta limited for the night. There were 6 matches altogether, I took the odd number while Alan took the even number. It was sorta weird not working with Guido on the show as normally I ref along side of him in California, so I tried to work well with Alan. After talking about what matches we were going to do the show started shortly after and I had the first match of the night.   Match 1: Ryan Drago vs Virgil Flynn (A Pimp Named Virgil); The match went really well. The only mistake I made was not being out of Drago's way before the match started. Before Virgil came out for his enterance, me and Drago were looking at the curtain for Virgil and Drago started backing up towards me. I tried to get out of his way before he stepped on me but I didn't move in time and he ended up stepping on my left foot and sorta tripping up a little bit. He gave me a quick shove and told me in a heelish voice "Don't try to trip me!" I gave him a quick sorry and on we went. The match was quick and back and forth. The end result saw Virgil putting Ryan Drago's shoulders to the mat while Drago went for a armbar on Virgil. So Virgil advanced after I made the 3 count.   After the match was over, I shook both of their hands and said thank you and said sorry to Ryan again about the small trip and he said no problem.   Alan had match 2 which was Big Ugly vs Bonzai Bruce. It as good to see Bonzai as I hadn't seen him for a couple of months as he's been training with Harley Race. Ugly went over in the match and I had match 3.   Match 3: Super Otaku vs Ryan Cade; Super Otaku is this masked animae guy who sorta dresses up like Goku with the karate Gi and Ryan Cade is a wrestler who was wrestling with WCWA when I started training with them but for some reason in the beginning of 2006, Cade stopped wrestling. Saturday night was his actual return back to the ring in over a year.   This match was pretty fun for me. It was also filled with back and forth action and the crowd ate it up. Though the greatest part of the match for me happen in the beginning. I was checking Otaku and after I checked him, he grabbed me and switched spots with me, then he started checking me! After seeing that I was clean, Otaku went to the middle of the ring and told me and Ryan Cade to go at it. Me and Cade just looked at each, shrugged, then started circleing the ring. A few seconds later me and Ryan Cade locked up then he power shoved me out of the lock up. I compalined to Otaku that Cade pulled my hair, Otaku and Cade argued for a second then Otaku put Cade in a headlock and I returned to my Ref'ing duties.   Ryan Cade went over on Otaku using the Claw using a Nintendo Power Glove. Oh! Ryan Cade's gimmick is a gamer gimmick. Awesome gimmick if your a fan of old school games. He wears the old Nintendo Power Glove, his tights consits of Zelda, Nintendo, and Street figher referances. Its fucking awesome! After the match waw over, I shook both guys hands and said thank you in the back.   Match 4 went to Alan and then we had a intermission.   Match 5 was the 1st of two main events. It was Showtime Shane Dynasty vs CCW's Heavyweight Champion Vinnie Massaro and I got to Ref this match. This was my first title match, so I was a little nervous but I was really honored to be doing this match. I came out and got the annoucement of the "Your Referee for this match, Referee Toby!", which is always cool to hear. Shane Dynasty and Buddy Sotello Esquire came out first, then the champion Vinnie Massaro came out 2nd and before the match even started, things got crazy.   I had to keep the two seperated and I tried that but after I gave the title to the guys at the bell table, Shane attacked Vinnie and the match started. They fought all over the place. They went all over the buidling, Vinnie throwing Dynasty into walls and all around the buidling. Finally I was able to get it back into the ring...for a few minutes. After a few minutes, Shane mounted a comeback against the champion Vinnie Massaro and threw Vinnie outside, shane followed. As soon as Dynasty's feet hit the floor, he took a chair from a little kid who was sitting in the front row. He was about to hit Vinnie and being the 20/20 vision Ref that I am, I rolled under the rope and grabbed the chair before Dynasty hit Vinnie with the chair but I didn't take it from him. Dynasty turned around, yelled at me "What are you doing!?" then wallopped me in the head with the chair. I was out.   Ok time for the shoot part of the post: As I was laying there, the first thing that popped into my mind was "Fuck, did I just screw something up?" We hadn't gone over the chair spot and I never heard them speak of a chair shot but I could have missed it sometime before the match or during the match. As I laid there, "KO'ed" I was so pist at myself. I started to stir to make it look like I was waking up, and I as I was stirring, I heard the little kids in the front row talk about me getting hit with the chair. I heard "Thats a DQ!", "he's still breathing, so i think he's ok", "Is he hurt?" and I think one of the kids actually poked me. I started to stir after the poke. As I was stiring, Dynasty got the ring and picked me up and slapped me to "Wake me up". I put the thought that I might have fucked something up out of my mind and got back in the ring to count a near fall. After the near fall, I said to both of them under my breath, as we were all getting up, "Guys, I am soooooo sorry if I fucked something up." I heard them both tell me that it was ok and we moved on.   Back to Kay-fabe: After I got hit with the chair, sometime during the match, Vinnie gained control and went for a moonsault. When Vinnie got to the top rope, Dynasty's manager Buddy Sotello Esquire got on the ring and he wasn't suppose to do that, so with my headache, me and him started arguing, then all of a sudden a few seconds later, Shane Dynasty grabs me and pushes me aside and then I have to argue with both of them. Vinnie Massaro gets up and grabs Dynasty from behind, around the hips and pushes him against the ropes into Buddy. Buddy and Dynasty collide knocking Buddy off the ring and then Vinnie massaro wraps Shane Dynasty up and I made the 3 count. Vinnie had retained his title in a crazy match.   Shoot: I was so pist with myself after the match, I kept thinking I had really fucked something up and the first thing I did was go up to Vinnie, because he was the first one in the back, and said I'm sorry if I fucked that chair spot up. He told me it was alright because everything worked out fine and not to worry about it but next time I should find a way to get distracted, so I didn't have to do that. I was a bit realived but I still had to clear things up with Dynasty. Dynasty came back into the back and I walked up to him and shook his hand, said thank you, and asked him if I fucked that up. He told me I didn't and pretty much told me the same thing Vinnie told me. I was so realived. I really enjoyed working the match and I was soooo fucking happy that I didn't fuck anything up and I did everything I was suppose to do. Though the chairshot wasn't very comfortable...those damn things hurt!   Back to Kay-fabe: The final match of the night was a triple threat for the Westside Championship. It was Big Ugly vs Ryan Cade vs Virgil Flynn with Alan Ref'ing. Virgil won the match and became the first CCW Westside Champion.   Overall: It was a fun night and I really enjoy working with everyone at CCW. Great atomospher, hot crowd, its just a overall great experinace.

My WrestleFanFest Experiance Friday 10/19

Now that WrestleFanFest is over, I can happily blog about....well about my experiance anyways, but I'm doing to do it in parts, starting with day 1, Friday the 19th, which will be done in two parts. :0)   Friday was going to be a long tire-some day for me and I knew it. I was excited about it, but I just knew it was going to be a long tiresome day. Mainly because of my day job. For my day job, I have to be at work at 6 in the morning and I DON'T go to bed early, I really can't unless I take a pill and I don't do that unless I don't feel good or have a bad toothache. For my job, I drive a truck, so not only do I have to get up early in the morning and not get a lot of sleep because I don't go to bed early, but I drive for the better part of my day. The truck I drive isn't a big rig or anything, it's just a flatbed truck, that's like 10 feet long or something, by the way, the only reason why I'm telling you all this stuff, it isn't important to my story but it helps me tell my story about how I know it's going to be a long tiresome day that I was excited for.   So after a 7 hour shift of driving around Oakland all day, and taking two cat naps in my truck, as I had to wait for a few companys to take care of a few things before I could move on to the next place, I left work at 1 o'clock in the afternoon and hurried home to take a shower and get cleaned up and make my way out to the Cow Palace. I left my house around 3 all nice and packed up. Luckily on the way there, traffic wasn't all that bad, there was a bit on the 101 after the Bay Bridge but I lucked out as it died out pretty quickly, so I was able to get to the Cow Palace a few minutes after 4 pm.   I pulled into the parking lot expecting that I wasn't going to pay because I was working the show, but did the parking people have a list of names of people suppose to be at the convention.....nope they didn't, so I was suppose to pay the 8 dollar parking fee, which I really wasn't to happy about, I was even more dissapointed when I found out I only had 7 dollars on me. I asked the parking guy if I could back up and go find a atm to get more money as I only had 7 dollars on me, he told me to go ahead and park but next time I need a parking pass. I quickly explained that I hadn't been given any information except on who to ask for when I got to the door and he didn't want to hear it, so I drove away and parked. I walked up to the front door and was asked to open my bag, I told them I was a Referee for the show tonight and needed to know where to go, I got told gate 11.   I went over to gate 11, and was asked on where my pass was, I told them I didn't have a pass as I hadn't recieved it yet but I was suppose to ask for someone when I showed up. Another worker named Jardi Frantz was next to me as well and was explaining the same thing, it was the first time I had met Jardi but I had heard of him before. After we both explained our sitution and had the same story pretty much, we were let in to try and go find where we get our damn passes. We walked towards the back of this room where the vendors, booths, and wrestlers doing autographs were being held and asked around, but we both got no information. After a few minutes, I told Jardi was going to walk around and just see if I can find anyone I knew and walked away. Shortly I found Sir Samurai and one of his students.   Sir Samurai and his student shook my hand and gave me a brotherly love hug and pulled me in the right direction to go, which was to the back. In the 5 minutes that I was in the convention hall, I had already seen Virgil (Millon Dollar Man body guard), Mean Gean Okerland, and Greg "The Hammer" Valentine. On the way to the back, before we had rounded a corner, Samurai warned me not to mark out to hard because the entire backstage area was filled with legends and other wrestlers...and he wasn't kidding. Devon was there, Slick, Ernest Miller, One Man Gang, and others well. Also I found a lot of the Nor-Cal wrestlers who had already been there for awhile. Helfyre, Alexis Darevko, Jason Vega, Maynard Skynard, Mr. Frost, Tim Thatcher and others as well. Also two guys from LA who I knew from before were there as well, which was great as I hadn't seen them in awhile.   As time went by, more and more wrestlers/legends started coming around and I got to meet a lot of them. Dr. Death Steve Willams, Bubba from Team 3D, Lance Hoyt, Mean Gean Okerland, Larry Zybysko (who told me his neighbor had a dog named Toby and I responded, "I always hear that when I meet someone new.), Eric Bischoff (who I didn't meet, but said Hi to.), Kamala, Rock Riddle, April Hunter, Ultimo Dragon, Francine, Steve Corino, The Sandman, Black Pearl, Chavo Gurrero sr., Orlando Jordan, and so many more. A lot of indy guys from around the United States as well.   As it became closer to show time, I went up to the locker room to get changed. When I found a room, there was Gangrel talking with Traci Brooks. I introduced myself to her and found a spot against the wall and started getting changed. I would say I introduced myself to Gangrel, but I've worked with him so much as of lates, he feels like one of the boys to me. After getting changed, I decided to stay by the stairs in the hallway because A. it was getting crowded and B. it was getting hot and there was a nice ass draft coming from downstairs to upstairs. So I stood next to the stairs.   When I got to the stairs, I heard a loud banging sound as someone was coming up them, I peaked my down and there's Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner walking up the stairs, the banging sound was coming from his bag hitting the stairs. When he got up the stairs, I introduced myself, Rick Steiner was already upstairs, along with the Powers of Pain the Barbarian and Warlord, and let me tell you they both are still in great shape, espically Warlord. I didn't introduce myself to Warlord as I was intimated, I did however did introduce myself to Barbarian before the show started, he ended up dressing in the same room as I did, so I had to. I was nervous as all hell but Barbarian was completely and totally a great guy. Very easy to talk to.   After Scott Steiner came up the stairs, I saw that someone else started making their way up the stairs as well, The Great Muta. I shook his hand and mentally marked out hard! Physcially I looked very comfortable around him, but mentally...yeah I was marking out. More and More wrestlers started coming up to the locker room and I introduced myself them all one at a time, all very nice people. I decided to go downstairs and find the other Refs to see what matches I had schduled for the night.   To be honest, I was a bit worried about what matches I was going to get. The other 3 Refrees were from So-Cal and were friends, and normally Nor-Cal and So-Cal workers don't get along to well. Luckily I really haven't that problem when it came to Rated2G and Chino, but I was worried about the other Ref's because A) It seemed they were all friends and B) This wasn't no indy show. When I got downstairs, the other Refs pulled me aside and showed me the card. They told me I had match 3; Al Snow & Blue Meanie vs Luke Hawk and Alkatrazz, Match 7; The Battle Royal (All of the Referees were out for that match, and Match 11; The Main Event The Sandman vs Steve Corino vs The Great Muta. Yup I had the main event, I was mentally Marking out even harder now, it was like a orgasmic marking out....physically I was all fucking smiles..not quite marking out, but you could easily tell I was happy and excited as all fuck. I heavily thanked the other 3 Referees and went off and told a lot of the workers who I was close with.   Everyone close to me worker wise, shook my hand, gave me a brotherly love hug, and told me congrats. I introduced myself to Al Snow, The Blue Meanie, Luke Hawk, Alkatrazz, Steve Corino, Francine, The Sandman, Babydoll, The Great Muta, and another woman whose name escapes me right now as I just can't remember it. She told me it when I met her, but there was a lot of noise so I really didn't catch it. All of the workers involved in these matches treated me very nicely and I was very honored to have their matches. Never in my life did I ever think I'd be sitting in the same room as these guys, it was a dream come fucking true. It was so great.   (I'm going to skip the backstage stuff, i'd most likely get in trouble for telling those stories, so I'm not, I'm sorry.)   So 7:30 starts nearing by and the wrestlers and workers are getting themselves ready for the show and their matches and now...it's show time.

Malice At The Palace, my WrestleFanFest experiance continued

(Matches I'm in will be told in Kayfabe. I'm not going to disrespect the guys who I worked with by talking about the behind the scenes stuff.)   Now it's showtime and I'm a wee bit nervous. I'm in the Cow Palace, around all of these big name workers, and the crowd is nice and hot. It's not a big crowd, but the first 4 or 5 rows are pretty much filled up, and the crowd is hot. I can't complain I'm just happy there's a crowd and they're not dead. The advertised card was changed all the way around, because of all the stuff that wasn't taken care of.   The first match was Team 3D vs The Steiner Brothers. The crowd was really into it and I did watch some of it from behind this curtain with a few of the guys. I was standing behind Virgil Flynn, because I could see over him without having to stand on my tip toes, and I told him "Dude...we're watching the Steiners against Team 3D live. This is great." The Steiner Brothers won the match and the crowd enjoyed it. After the match it looked like Brother Ray and Devon were going to go at it but right before they threw punches at each other, they hugged and went back to the back.   The 2nd match was Gail Kim vs Traci Brooks vs Cheerleader Melissa. I didn't watch the match but I do know Gail Kim won.   Then it was the 3rd match, my first match of the night. Luke Hawk & Alkatrazz vs Al Snow & The Blue Meanie. Everyone knows who Meanie and Al Snow are, but for those who don't know, Luke Hawk and Alkatrazz worked on the MTV WSX show for a minute. I was still a bit nervous but I was ready for anything as I know Al and Meanie like to have fun in the ring. Before the match, I was talking to Al and Meanie and we just started saying new names for Alkatrazz. We were saying things like Alkey, Alkaline, Alcholic, jail bait (I came up with that one.), I almost said Nailz but changed my mind.   I went out and all my nerves went away, I very quickly went to ease as I came out the otherside of the curtain. I got to the ring and waited for the wrestlers to come out. Luke Hawk and Alkatrazz came out first, then Meanie and Al Snow came out and the crowd just started Head almost right out the gate. Yes Al did have Head! The two of them got in the ring and there were a lot of Head and bWo chants. Al would bounce side to side in the center of the ring and as he was bouncing the crowd would chant "Head" until he popped Head into the air. It was great. After a minute or two I was able to get the match started.   I say a minute or two later because Al...I mean Head kept going after Luke Hawk or Alkatrazz. Well it was Al holding Head but Al would blame Head and kept telling me that Head didn't want to go in the corner. Al literally chased either Luke or Alkatrazz out of the ring with Head and I had to cut him off. I cut him off and told him he had to get Head into the corner so I could start the match. He told me again that Head wasn't listening to him and told me to ask Head. So I told Head to go back into the corner and Head gave me that fucking blank look and wouldn't go. Head's very stubborn.   Finally Al was able to convince Head to put it in the corner...or Head maybe told Al to put it in the corner..either way, Head went to the corner and I got the match started. The match was pretty much with Meanie and Al basically playing with Luke Hawk and Alkatrazz. Meanie made Luke Hawk look up and popped him one in the mouth, Luke tried the same thing on Meanie and Luke got popped in the mouth again. At one point Alkatrazz went for a drop down on Al and Al jumped over Alkatrazz, and laid beside him, Alkatrazz looked up and saw Al next to him and Al yelled at him and scared Alkatrazz in the corner. Luke Hawk again tried the same tactic on Al and got popped in the mouth again.   At one point of the match, I sorta lost control and to get control back I had to back Al back out of the ring since he JUST tagged out. After I finally got Al Snow out, I turned around and Alkatrazz was in the ring chokeing Meanie in the corner and Alkatrazz wasn't the legal man either, so I had to back him out. Alkatrazz gave me a hard time about it but when I finally got him out of the ring, I turned around just in time to see Blue Meanie give Luke Hawk one hell of a splash and I made the 1, 2, 3 pinfall and rasied the hands of The Blue Meanie, Al Snow, and Head....well Al rasied Head up.   Oh before I forget, during the match, Al brought Head back in the match and tried to use Head, but I cut him off again. Both Luke Hawk and Alkatrazz dropped off the ring and to the outside. Al looked at me and gave this weird look towards me. All of a sudden, Al with Head dropped to his knees and started head banging Head and started walking on his knees towards me. The crowd starts chanting "Head, Head, Head, Head!" as Al was backing me up in the corner. So during the match, Head pretty much made a attempt to give me Head, luckily I got out of dodge before Head got to close. I think I would have in pain if Al had gotten to close with Head.   After the match, I got prepared for the Battleroyal. The Battleroyal had a lot of the local Nor-Cal wrestlers I know, so I was happy to have the best seat in the house to hopefully see the match shine..but I'll get to that in a second.   Match 4 was The Powers of Pain with this very hot woman vs One Man Gang and Kamala with Slick. By the way, Slick is awesome. He kept ribbing me in the locker room about me giving him a straight count and to make sure I turn around when he's choking someone...but I didn't have this match so I didn't have to worry about Slick's antics. The Powers of Pain won.   Match 5 was Abyss and Shark Boy vs Lance Hoyt and someone who was doing a French Gimmick...I heard something about a Wild Stallon. I didn't meet him and wasn't in the back area when the introductions were made. Abyss and Sharkboy won, I missed this match.   Match 6 was a Hardcore 3 vs 3 tag match. It was Junior Fatu (Rikishi), Black Pearl, and Vampire Warriror (Gangrel) vs Orlando Jordon, Vic Grimes, and someone who was a Indy worker, didn't catch his name either. I didn't see this match either but I know the team of Fatu, Black Pearl, and Vampire Warriror won the match.   Match 7 was the Knight of the Indies battleroyal. Myself and the 3 other Referees were all out for this match. I didn't catch the Hardcore 3 vs 3 tag match but I did happen to see the spots of blood outside the ring...or it could have been Gangrel's blood myst.....either or it was someone's blood. Guys I knew in the battleroyal were Helfyre, Jason Vega, Alexis Darevko, The Ghetto Hesimen Badd Blood from Rated 2G, Maynard Skynard, Sexy Chino, 2 members of The Surburban Commandos T-Rent and D-Unit, Virgil Flynn, Mr. Frost, Timothy Thatcher, Sir Samurai, Mike Hyashi, and Robbie Gilmore. I hadn't seen Robbie in months because he decided to go to Booker T's school in Houston a few months ago, so it was really good to see Robbie Gilmore again. Two legends were in the battleroyal as well, Rock Riddle and Chavo Gurrero Sr.   Unfortunaily, none of the guys who I knew won the battleroyal, Sexy Chino came close and ended up being one of the last two guys in the ring...the other MMA fighter Shannon Ritch. Unfortunally Shannon Ritch elimated Chino from the match much to the fans dissapointment and won the battleroyal.   The next match was Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake and Greg "The Hammer" Valentine vs Koko B. Ware and Dr. Death Steve Williams. I didn't watch this match as I was getting ready for the main event but I know the team of Brutus Beefcake and Greg Valentine won. Dr. Death now has a hole in his throat due to his battle with throat cancer and even in his condition, he was a joy to talk to and he still worked a match. Dr. Death is the fucking man.   Next was Billy Kidman vs Ultimo Dragon. I caught the first half of this match, and it was great. I didn't catch the other half because I really wanted to get my mind set for the mainevent as it was going to big, but I heard everything about this match was great. Hopefully even with all the bullshit of the convention, the dvd will be put out and the show will air on Pay Per View. If you honestly can either watch the dvd or the airing of the show on PPV, I recommand this match. One of the things I did see was Ultimo Dragon came out with his son and his son was dressed just like him. Mask, tights, boots, and cape, they both looked great together. They even did Ultimo's enterance together. Both of them got in the ring, Billy Kidman dropped to his knees and challanged Ultimo's son, Ultimo's son answered by running up and chopping Billy in his chest. Ultimo Dragon won the match with his Asai DDT. During the match, the fans chanted "This is awesome!" and it truely was.   Finally it was the main event. I went out first, I was so fucking nervous, I'm not gonna lie. I'm in the middle of the cow palace, on a show that's going to be recorded for PPV and sold on DVD (Hopefully) and this could be a great oppotunity for me..SO I CAN NOT FUCK THIS UP!   I eagerly wait for the guy's in the match. First out was Steve Corino w/ Francine. Steve got on the mic and started cutting a promo on the fans, then the fans started chanting at Francine, the good ol "She's got herpes" chant came out of the bag and Francine got heated and took the mic from Corino and started going off on the fans as well. After a few minutes The Sandman came out with 3 girls representing the FireFrighters Brewery beer. The Sandman and the girls got in the ring and then he got on the mic. Sandman put over the brew and then started cutting a promo...then introduced someone to make sure Francine was kept in her place and that was...Babydoll.   Babydoll came out of the curtain holding the singapore cane of The Sandman. So now things have picked up. The match was about to start when all of a sudden Babydoll swung the cane at Corino and Corino quickly grabbed the micaphone and told me that I because Babydoll almost hit him with the cane, that Sandman should be DQ'ed and I need to annouce him as the winner. Corino hands me the mic and I gave him this response. "You are not the winner of the match, This is not a regular match, this is a hardcore match (fans pop), that means pinfalls and submissions only!" (fans pop again.) I hand the mic back to the ring annoucer and rang the bell for the match to start and right before The Sandman and Steve Corino lock up....music plays and out comes The Great Muta!!!!   The Great Muta whose in ring gear is now making his way to the ring and he has this woman with him (I can't remember her name.). The Sandman, Steve Corino, and myself are in shock. The Great Muta enters the ring and Steve Corino goes after him, only to be cut off and catch a dragon legsnap from The Great Muta, The Sandman goes after Muta and Muta cuts Sandman off as well and Sandman gets a dragon legsnap as well. The match is now a triple threat hardcore match!   During the match, The Sandman left the ring and made his way back to the curtain area. A minute later, I see Sandman coming back towards the ring, holding something over his head. It's a fucking guardrail! Sandman places the guardrail against the ring and gets back inside. At this time I noticed that Babydoll has been sliding a number of chairs into the ring. I had been paying so much attention to the action, I didn't notice that she had been doing that. When I realized it there was about 4 or 5 chairs in the ring. Steve Corino got thrown out of the ring and when he got back up, Corino placed the guardrail into the ring and got back into the ring and started going at it with The Great Muta again.   While Muta and Corino was going at it, The Sandman took advantage of it and set two chairs up near the corner, then placed the guardrail on top of the two chairs. The Sandman tried to get back into the match but both Muta and Corino cut him off and was able to lay him on top of the guardrail! Corino and Muta all of a sudden joined forces and Muta told Corino to go to the top turnbuckle and splash the fallen Sandman. Corino climbed to the top turnbuckle and when he turned around The Great Muta met Corino with a punch to the jaw....a loud punch to the jaw. Muta then grabbed Corino and climbed to the 2nd turnbuckle and suplexed Corino onto The Sandman...all three men were out and the crowd popped loudly.   And that's where I'm going to end the story of the match because I want you guys to buy the dvd or order the pay per view.   After the show was over, I thanked every man and woman in the matches that I was in and I said my good byes to all of those who I knew and met that night. Then headed back towards my house to make a quick apperance at a friends halloween party. The first night of the convention was great for me. There was a lot of rumored bullshit going on, but I really didn't pay any attention to it. I figured I wasn't being paid so I really didn't care. The experiance I got and the stories I can now tell is great for me. I am however trying to get a copy of the dvd, so we'll see how that goes.   The next two days of the convention will come in my next few blogs. So come back later!

WrestleFanFest, Sunday, The Final Day.

It's now Sunday, and I've overslept. I was asked to be at the Cow Palace at 9 in the morning and I might be booked on the AWA show that is happening at 11..or noon. There was a AWA show happening, around that timeframe and that's all I knew, but I overslept and woke up at 11:00 or 11:30. I didn't get home till about 4 in the morning Saturday due to be at Rocky Horror, and when I got home, I just crashed out. I was so dead tired.   I actually did wake up at 10:00, but that's because I was in a lot of pain. My leg muscles were having very sharp pains. They felt like cramps but both legs were hurting. I finally was able to fall back asleep after a few minutes of sharp only to get a phone call from Rik Luxury asking me how he could get in. I told him I think he has to buy a day pass for 25 bucks, because I don't think they have anymore passes. He said he was going to try and make it out and he hung up. I got up and got ready to go back to the Cow Palace, praying that the whole event wasn't burned down by now. Rumors were still running even higher that the guy putting the event still wasn't paying talent, so I had a feeling things were going to be quite intresting.   I got back to the Cow Palace a little after 1, and instead of deciding of arguing with the parking people about paying for parking, I decided to park on the street and walk a little ways to the palace. I had one of those staff passes, but decided fuck it anyways, I'll walk a block. When I got inside, the first person I found was of course Sir Samurai. He explained to me that the AWA show was basically taken over by APW and his, Helfyre's, Jason Vega's, Alexis Darevko's match was made into a tag match, and right before they went out...two more guys got added, and then those two guys never got tagged in, and there's a reason. One guy (who'll remain nameless because he doesn't deserve to be known by name) has worked in years and all of a sudden just showed up at the Cow Palace and said "oh hi, I'm a indy wrestler.", the other guy likes to believe he's a wrestler, he'll rename nameless as well, but he's nothing more than a mark who carries bags for a wrestler. So they didn't get tagged in for a reason.   I also found out that none of them got any music or introductions, because apprently they couldn't figure out the sound stuff, but after the tag match was over and by the next match, it was all of a sudden working. Funny on how that works. Sorry, I don't have much tolerance when it comes to APW. They bash the hell out of every other promotion out here in Nor-cal and will happily try to fuck another promotion over when it comes to certain talent. Though I did meet their ring annoucer as he annouced on Friday. He seemed like a nice guy and did a good job on Friday, so I'll give him props.   After I talked to Samurai about the AP..I mean AWA show, I went off to find Darevko and Helfyre. I found them after a few minutes and saw that Helfyre was limping...badly. I asked him what happen and he told me how he kinda landed arkwardly while performing a move in the ring (think HHH spinebuster on Orton cause of said injury.), Helfyre ended up limping for the rest of the day.   Sunday seemed a lot better fan/booth wise. Steve Austin did indeed show up, so there was a lot of people in that area, which was great because that ment the SPW/DMW booth might get a lot of foot traffic. The Territory had also showed up and merged with us as well. The Territory are two guys who films pretty much all of the wrestling shows here in Nor-cal. They do annoucing, filming, and editing. The Territory guys set up a few tv's and put up a SPW and a BRAWL show....they just happen to forget the DMW show, but they had BRAWL instead...bastards, I'm only kidding.   Because the tvs got hooked up and were playing the SPW/BRAWL shows, we had a lot of people stop for a few minutes and watch the footage, which allowed me to hand out flyers for DMW and SPW to these people. Two funny stories for you people.   Funny Story 1: So this woman with her two kids stop at the TVs and is watching some of the footage of the shows, I stop to talk to her and hand her flyers for SPW and DMW, well Rik Luxury had made it in as well and was hanging out with us so I introduced him to her as well. Rik is the current Devil Mountain Wrestling champion and has a 60 minute hardcore ironman match for the SPW title this Sunday. We talked to her for a few more minutes and she asked how was the parking and we said, oh there's plently and said she could see what she could do to come out. After she left, Mr. Frost walked up to me and Rik and asked "Do you know who that is?". Rik and I said no, who? "That's Rey Mysterio Jr.'s wife and kids!" Frost said. I had just promoted the SPW/DMW shows and Rik Luxury to Rey Mysterio's Wife and his kids!   Funny Story 2: So people are starting to gear up for the ROH show that's taking place at 4 o'clock. Well someone in a football jersey walks up to the tv's and starts watching the footage of the SPW/BRAWL shows. I walk up to him and hand him a flyer for the SPW and DMW show and start talking to him, after a few minutes I find out he's from Delaware and tell him he could follow us over online at www.devilmountainwrestling.com if he would like, then I told him thank you and walked away. Well later at the ROH show, it's main event time and Jay Briscoe comes out and who do I see right behind him, holding the ROH tag titles? The same guy in the football jersey, Mark Briscoe. I had promoted the shows to Mark Briscoe.   So both SPW/DMW boothes got a lot of foot traffic and I handed out a lot of flyers and promoted the shows to a lot of people, so I was very happy about that. Around 3 o'clock the boothes started shutting down and people started packing it up, the ROH show was the last part of WrestleFanFest and the area where the vendors/boothes were, was going to be closed during the show. So we wrapped everything up, and myself, the guys from SPW, the guys from DMW, and Rik Luxury all headed over to the ROH show.   I felt the ROH show was alright, I only really enjoyed 3 matches out of the card and the fans were annoying as all hell. I did like the fact they were loud and hot, but all the chants over and over got really annoying. After the ROH show, we all said our good byes and I found Blue Meanie again and said good bye and thanked him again for Friday. After that I went home and relaxed. It was a busy/tireing weekend, that had a up and lows...well lows for other people.   For me, I really enjoyed the convention, as a fan, I got to meet a lot of the guys who I looked up to while growing up, as a Indy Referee, I was given the biggest opportunity of my life by being able to Ref the Sandman vs Steve Corino vs The Great Muta match. By the way, I found out who that woman was who came out with The Great Muta, the woman was Bobcat. I also had a LOT of fun working with Al Snow & The Blue Meanie in their match against Alkatrazz and Luke Hawk. I honestly couldn't have asked for anything more that weekend...ok maybe a pay out, but I'm ok that I didn't get one.   Well that's it for my series of blogs. WrestleFanFest Saturday Experiance

Now it's Saturday, and everything still feels surreal. I still can't believe I got to Ref the matches that I Ref'ed and I still can't believe I shared a locker room with guys who I grew up watching and being in awe of. Myself and the Ultimo Dragon got dressed in the same locker room and for those who don't know, Ultimo is one of my heroes. I honestly feel that if I quit today and never looked back, I'd be happy with what I've done, but I still had a weekend to finish.   So now it's Saturday and I woke up around noon and got to the Cow Palace a little bit after two o'clock. I had to pay for parking as I still didn't have my pass for the convention. After I parked, I saw Mr. Frost and Sir Samurai and said my hellos. They told me that the SPW and DMW booth had been combined and we were right next to Molly Holly and The Blue Meanie. Which was great! I hadn't seen or talked to Molly since December when we were both in Oregon and I wanted to try and get to know Blue Meanie a bit better, but I had a problem, because I didn't have my pass yet, I got stopped at the door.   I told security who I was, what I did the previous night, and how I had a booth in the convention but that didn't really work. They told me to call someone and so I did. I called Darevko and he came over and confirmed who I was and they let me in so I could go and get my pass. I ended up getting a staff pass instead of a vendor pass, which was better because it allowed me to go anywhere I wanted to. After getting my pass, I returned to my booth and there was Meanie and Molly Holly.   I was a bit nervous saying hello to Molly as it's Molly Holly and I was pretty sure she didn't remember who I was. After a little bit of being arkward, I re-introduced myself and we got to talking about things. She did remember that we met in Oregon at BAW and we talked for a few minutes. She's still doing really well and she's really loving her current job now and doesn't seem she wants to come back to wrestling. We ended up talking to one another on and off until she left. I also re-introduced myeslf to Meanie and ended up talking to him for a bit as well...he really likes the Devil Mountain Wrestling shirt, I should try to get him one.   Overall I was pretty dissapointed with Saturday. Not a lot got done, the MMA show got cancelled, and a lot of people were drunk, and rumors were running that the promoter was stiffing the workers. Hell, when I was heading over to get my pass, someone, who thinks he's a worker but he's really not AT ALL!, tried to stop me and tell me how so and so didn't get paid and asked me if I got paid. I told him no, and so and so not getting paid isn't my problem.   I was a bit dissapointed that the MMA show got cancelled, only because I was going to use it as a time killer. I honestly don't care for cage fighting as to me it seems, one fighter just puts the other fighter near the cage and pin him against it and that bores me. I actually prefer to watch Pride over all. The plan was to go to the MMA show, leave around 10 or 9:30 and head over to Oakland to get ready for the Rocky Horror Picture Show, but since the MMA show got cancelled, the convention shut down at 6:30 and had to head to Oakland because I didn't want to waste the gas. So I sat in Oakland, at the bar from 7:30 to 11:00. I was really fucking bored.   The best part of Saturday was getting to talk to Molly Holly and the blue meanie. Oh and also finding out Francine was ok...I kinda kicked Francine hard in the wrist on Friday night. I was checking on Steve Corino in the ring and she slid in behind me and I didn't see her. I shot my right leg straight out so I could be more comfortable and when I shot my leg out, I kicked her hard in the wrist. I couldn't fucking believe it, my awesome night almost went to complete and utter shit but luckily she was alright and told me not to worry about it as she's had worse happen to her. So that was one of the good parts of Saturday.   Sunday, was a lot better but that's going to be for another blog.

Dec 15th = My In-Ring Wrestling Debut AND I'M KICKING INTERNATIONAL ASS!!!

Yup, next month in Dec. on the 15th, I make my in-ring pro wrestling debut and that's because 3 guys decided to beat me up at the last Devil Mountain Wrestling show. Yup....three international assholes decided to blantly take me out, so next month on the 15, Ref Toby doesn't count anymore, Ref Toby gets payback!   Yes, I know, that was corny. I haven't quite figured out the art of the face promo yet. It's a work in progress, and I'm kinda getting there but doing the face promo in all seriousness is kinda hard. Anyways, let me explain the set up for my first wrestling match next month on the 15th.   Last Saturday, November 3rd, was Devil Mountain Wrestling. I was Refereeing The Fun Athletic Guys Kimo and Chico, or the F.A.Gs for short, vs Sheik Kahn Abodi and Alexis Darevko. I was Refereeing the match and everything was going...umm out of controlish but I had things under normal Referee control. Anyways, so The Fun Atheltic Guys pretty much have Sheik pinned and I'm in the middle of my count, when all of a sudden I'm pulled from out of the ring. I turn around and it's someone dressed up in Sheik clotheing. I call for the bell when I'm all of a sudden thrown into the post.   After a few minutes, my limp body is thrown in the ring and picked up over Darevko's head and he gives me a high razors edge, then as soon as I land, I open my eyes just soon enough to see and feel Sheik Kahn Abodi land a frogsplash on me. After seeing the video footage of the aftermath and I found out who the mystery guy in Sheik's clotheing was who attacked me....canadian Superstar Anton Vorhees. It seems Anton, Darevko, and Sheik has formed some kind if International Alliance.   Well I asked our Commish's permission and requested that I team up with Kimo and Chico to take them on in a match. He wasn't willing at first, but with my charm and wit, he changed his mind so now it's on!!!!   Dec. 15th, it will be Myself and The Fun Athletic Guys Kimo and Chico vs Sheik Kahn Abodi, Alexis darevko, and Anton Vorhees! The Stripes come off and the athletic tape goes on!   .....yeah that was corny too, I know.

South Cal vs North Cal

Ok, so I know I'm really lacking on my blog updates. I still owe you a BAW and CCW blog along with a training update. I'm lacking, I'm sorry, I'll get them up soon, I promise but right now I want to discuss how I recently found out how workers from South California hate North California workers and vicea versa.   The night I was in Oregon working the BAW show, another promotion here in CA was running. This promotion is called GZW. To be honest, I don't like the promoter of GZW, dude was very rude to me while I was talking to him and the end result ended up me being pist off. Before his first show, he sent me a message via Myspace to come down and watch GZW's first show, as a paying customer. I was considering it, it was kinda of a long drive for me to make as the show was set in Lodi and thats an hour in a half drive from where I currently live but I was considering going to the show regardless of the drive. Anyways, me and him were talking about the show, sending messages back and forth and I decided to offer myself to help him out with whatever he needed help with and I didn't ask for any pay, and I made it clear that I didn't want any money for it. Anyways, after sending that message asking if he wanted any help, I never got a response. I thought maybe Myspace screwed up, so I sent him another message after about a week after not hearing from him. Again after the 2nd message, I didn't hear back from him.   So after the first show took place, I sent him a message asking him how the show went...and I quickly got a response back. This was a surprise to me. So after talking about his first show and finding out how Samoa Joe was going to be on the next show, I again offered my hand in helping him out for free and after that message, I didn't hear back from again...he was ignoring me. I know he was getting my messages because when you check your "sent" folder on Myspace it lets you know if message had been read or not and the messages I was sending him were getting read. He just decided to stop talking to me altogether as I was offering my help...but yet he had no issue talking to me when he wanted me to pay to get in....So F him.   Anyways, so on the most recent GZW show, he had a mixture of North Cal guys with South Cal guys, mainly guys from PWG. Human Tornado, Joey Ryan, Chris Bosh, and Scott Lost. Now Sou Cal (South California) hate the Nor-cal (North California) guys. From my understanding, they think they're better than the wrestlers here in Nor-Cal and yeah that doesn't really sit well with all of us. Anyways, at GZW there was a major issue where actually The Reno Boys took GZW's belt home with them and no this wasn't a work, this was a shoot. The Reno Boys actually took the GZW title with them and left the show early. After this happen, GZW's promoter freaked out and booked a Sou-Cal vs Nor-Cal match...where I heard was rather stiff match, espically on the Nor-cal end of the match ( ).   So in a brief update, I wanted to put out there apprently is an issue between South California workers and North California workers. Something may arise again between the two parties, so if that happens, I wanted to post this first so there's some kind of backstory. So now you know...and knowing is half the battle.

Big News and A Actual Post! Two Deals In One! How Lucky Are You!?

I haven't posted in awhile, there's really no reason why except I really haven't found much to post about. I am still training and I am still Refereeing for promotions and regardless of what the Khali mark says, are not backyard feds. (check out the WWE comments that don't warrent a thread...thread to see what I'm talking about.)   -Training: Training has been going ok. I've just about completed 6 months of my 1 year training contract. While I'm still slowly improving, I'm still having trouble with being able to do a straight forward flip and body control. When I flip, I keep tucking a shoulder in causing me to rotate into what looks like a jumping spin kick. Plus I'm also not jumping straight up, I keep lunging forward, which I"m not really suppose to do. i'm suppose to jump up, but for some reason my body just doesn't want to.   My problem is that I keep thinking/fearing I'm going to end up on the top of my head again. I've done it quite a few times in the pass and got really lucky and only got a sore neck because of it but I keep thinking that next one, if that next one happens, will result in something a lot less worse then a sore neck.   Other than those things, training is going ok really. I'm learning new moves a few times a week and learning how to craft matches better more and more and we have a few gimmick ideas for me but my favorite one will be done with me wearing a mask. I won't go into detail about it here, because you never know who might end up reading this stuff but when I'm really close to debuting it or at least have debuted it I'll talk about it.   Oh, and before I forget if anyone here whose reading this wants to help me design a mask, that would be great. I can't draw worth a damn and everyone I ask if they can design a mask for me sorta falls through, I've asked quite a few actual wrestlers if they knew anyone or any company that might help me but I've got silent no's or a "do it yourself" from Konnan. So if anyone would be intresting in drawing a design concept so I can send it over to Highspots so the mask could be made, that would be FUCKING GREAT!   Refereeing: Refereeing is going amazingly well. I'm being booked around the bay area about 2 or 3 or more times a month now and if training doesn't work out very well by the time my 1 year is up, I think I will just skip out on the wrestling part and just become a Ref, as I'm still having a lot of fun doing it.   Promotions: Devil Mountain Wrestling (DMW):Devil Mountain Wrestling (my home promotion that made me into a Ref and where I'm currently training.) is finally running shows again. We really haven't ran a big show since last Sept. We kept getting the run around by the armory that we wanted to run shows at, so after almost a year of not running any shows we finally found what may become our new home for running monthly shows, which is a Boys and Girls club. We did our first big show of 2007 last weekend and it went really well. We had near or at 85 paying people and for really your first big show in almost a year, that really is a good number. I was hoping for 100 while others were hoping for more, but I'm generally happy with having that many people show up.   California Championship Wrestling (CCW): CCW is still running extremely strong and actually just had their 1 year aniversity show this month (July). Plus CCW is still on Comcast On-Demand here in Northern California so I'm regularly on tv....you just need to have Comcast's On-Demand service...and live in Northern California to watch CCW on tv. I know CCW is also working on other things for tv right now but I can't really say anything about it until they annouce something. But yes, CCW is going really strong and doesn't look like they want to keep running just as strong or stronger. Their drawing huge crowds of about 300 or more people (think Indy show people), have great wrestling matches, and have a Bay Area market, CCW is really going.   BRAWL: BRAWL is still going and running very well. They're having 2 regular shows a month and I'm used as a Ref for them now instead of a sound guy. Well I still do sound if they REALLY need me to. Rik Luxury really trusts me when it comes to hitting music cues and doing everything correctly when it comes to running the sound and I competely understand that, so if asked, I'll do sound for something he wants done perfectly.   North American Wrestling (NAW): Goddamn NAW shows are a lot of fun. I've only worked a few of them but whenever I work them, I always have a great time. Not saying I don't have a great time at the other promotions I work for, but there's something at NAW that lets me know that I'm going to have a great time that night. NAW's also really starting to bring in big names as well. At the last show Psicosis (the actual Psicosis) wrestled on the card and so did Gangrel. I didn't really get to meet Psicosis as he pretty much stayed away from the rest of the wreslters and was mainly on his cell phone, Gangrel on the other hand....AWESOME GUY. Really friendly, really easy to approach and talk to, I have nothing and will never have anything bad to say about Gangrel EVER! Great guy.   I love working NAW shows but there is one kind of negitive thing about working NAW shows. They go for so long. They are stacked 11 or 12 match cards and the show doesn't seem to end until about 11:30 or midnight...on a sunday night. Which sorta sucks because I get up for work on Monday mornings between 5 and 5:30 am, but since I have so much fun I really don't seem so much...until the next day when I'm driving my work truck and I'm really sleepy, but like I said I really enjoy working their shows so I shouldn't be complaining.   BAW in Oregon:BAW is up and running again after being forced to take a few months off due to someone else up in Oregon who got scared by how well they are doing. I still have a working relationship with them, but I really can't afford to keep going to Oregon to do their shows, which is sading as I really loved working up there but I got to look at the reality of things, should I skip work and have less money so I can pay my bills, buy food, and keep a little left over until my next paycheck, or should I go work in Oregon and miss that paid day at work and that answer would be....choose buisness over pleasure.   THE BIG NEWS!: Ok, time for the big news I mentioned. In late Oct., there will be a wrestling con (think Comic-con) taking place at the Cow palace. It's going to be a 3 day event and on the 2nd day (Saturday) the people running the con is going to have a HUGE card and I found out last night, after contacting the promoter via E-mail, it looks like I'm going to be one of the Refs for this huge ass card. Now when I said "Huge ass card" I don't mean it's a whole bunch of matches put together, no I mean it's a stacked big name card!   Here's the card so far:   Knight of the Indys-Last Man Standing 30 man Battleroyal: Every 60 seconds, a new wrestler will enter the Battle Royal and when all 30 men are in the match, YOU MUST BE THROWN OVER THE TOP ROPE TO BE ELIMATED. My trainer Helfyre is actually in this match.   Hardcore Fatal 4 Way: Al Snow vs Axl Rotten vs Blue Meanie vs Nick Sinn   Battle Of The Giants: The One Man Gang vs Kamala   Singles Match: Tony Atlas vs Dr. Death Steve Williams   Legendary Tag Team Match: The Rock and Roll Express vs The Midnight Express   Battle of The Big Boys: The Nasty Boys vs Vicious & Delicious (Buff Bagwell and Scott Norton)   Texas Bull Rope Match: Ron Bass vs Black Bart   Triple Threat Match: JD Micheals vs Billy Kiddman vs Sharkboy   Greg Valentine & Brutus The Barber Beefcake vs Koko B Ware & Tito Santana   Test & A-Train (T&A) vs Rick Steiner & Dan Severn   (NOW FOR THE TWO BIGGEST MATCHES ON THE CARD (in my view only) )   The Great Muta vs Ultimo Dragon!!!!!!   And the Main Event: Christian Cage vs Abyss vs A Mystery Man.   (I actually don't know who the Mystery man is, but I'm thinking/GUESSING It's either Kurt Angle or Bill Goldberg as they both will be at the Con.)   So you can see why I'm really excited to be working as a Ref for this show. The idea that I could Ref one of these HUGE matches is fucking awesome, espically Great Muta vs Ultimo Dragon, that would be a dream match to Ref. Here's also some good news about it, it looks like the show is going to be on Pay Per View. I don't know the details about according to the website and flyer, it looks like the show will be on PPV. Another Busy Weekend Gone

If the WrestleFanFest weekend wasn't long enough, this past weekend certainly was. I ended up having a total of four shows over pre-Halloween weekend, two Rocky Horrors and two wrestling shows...but I'll skip the Rocky Horror shows because I know you guys read my blog for Pro Wrestling, not for my adventures in Rocky Horror land.   On Saturday CCW was running a show at their brand new studio. Well ok, it wasn't brand new as they ran there last month but it was at least new...right? I was impressed with how the studio looked this time around, last month, the studio was very small and packed and hot, but since the last CCW show in Sept. the powers of CCW made some changes to the building. In sept, the locker room was this small room that we all packed into to get changed. Well a wall got removed, the room got painted black and what was once the locker room was now set up so crowd members had a better place to sit, thus giving them more room. The locker room got moved though, to out back. A hole was cut into a wall and a door got added, thus giving us access to the building from the back. It will be intresting to see how the new locker room works out as Newman is really windy and the rainy season is starting to show itself, hopefully everything works out.   The CCW show was another good show. Since CCW runs in Newman, they normally draw a good crowd. Newman, is a small town off Highway 5, so there is pretty much NOTHING to do down in Newman and if you do wanna go out to something, it's most likely happening miles away from Newman, so normally a big/loud crowd pops up and last Saturday was nothing differant. The crowd seemed to like how the building was re-done as they had a lot more room to sit and weren't packed in like a can of sardines.   I Ref'ed two matches that night, the first match was Virgil & El Chupacabra vs The Buissness man Jesus Cruz & R-Cayde. Jesus Cruz is normally known as the brownsnake but apprently he changed his ways and isn't a thug anymore, he's now a buisness man. He came to a ring with rolling luggage and started selling stuff out of it. He had some pretty good stuff on him to, dvds, cds, horrible smelling colone. I always love Ref'ing Virgil's and Chupi matches as their just fun to work with.   Something about me and Virgil just click. I don't know what it is, but when we are in the same match, for some reason it just seems me and him are always on the same page and act like we're on the same team. It's a weird thing as he's the wrestler and I'm the Ref and the only thing me and him have worked as a team on was holding onto The Dead Fed title. The Dead Fed title is a title that was invented after the Scum took the belt away from a promotion that....umm wasn't playing correctly with others. That promotion is now dead and gone, thus The Dead Fed Title was born along with a game, where ANYONE in the buisness could play. The way you played the game was to just steal the title from the person holding it at the time.Myself and Virgil decided to join up and co-hold the Dead Fed title. Our pairing worked out pretty well as it took awhile for the boys to figure it out.   I remember one night at BRAWL, Rik Luxury grabbed the Dead Fed title and ended up trying to hide it in his bag...unfortunaily he had no clue that I was watching him and let Virgil know what Rik had tried to hide the title, but when I told Virgil this, Kenny K was standing next to him and was listening in, so Kenny K joined our group as he snatched the title from Rik's bag. Well a few minutes later, Kenny had let myself and Virgil down as Dj Rizz stole the title off Kenny. So now the Commandos had the belt. Well for the main event that night, two of the three commandos were in the main event, D-Unit who wasn't in the match, sat at ringside. Rizz before getting involved in the match, gave the Dead Fed title to D-Unit to hold onto. Well after the match, D-Unit got into the ring to comfront I think Pogo and tossed me the Dead Fed title to hold onto. I was at the music table running music for that match, I quickly ran the title back to the back and found Virgil. Rizz for some reason was chasing Virgil, I think he figured Virgil had the title. I yelled "Virgil!", Rizz noticed I had the belt and started charging at me like I was a quarterback and he was a lineman......a very skinny lineman, as Rizz was running at me I tossed the title to Virgil and ran back to the soundtable to finish what I had to do. Virgil ended up leaving with the title that night and it was safe in our group. Ok back to my other story telling, enough of the Dead Fed title game. Oh and before I forget, the game ended a few months ago.   Now the reason why I like Ref'ing Chupi matches is because he tries so hard to make me laugh. Before the bell rings, while me and him are in the ring, he keeps kinda charging after the guy he's wrestling and I have to back him up, well when I'm backing him up he keeps talking to me telling me why he hates him and for some reason I almost start laughing everytime. He does it on purpose and it's sorta devloped to a game for him. It's fun but sometimes I really hate him for doing it. Anyways back to CCW.   So the Chupi & Virgil vs The Buissness man Jesus Cruz & R-cayde goes really well and the crowd really enjoyed it. The match ended with R-Cayde walking out on Jesus Cruz as he got frustrated with Jesus because Jesus kept jumping down from his corner to try and sell his wares. Well after R-Cayde finally got a tag to Jesus, R-Cayde left and Chupi and Virgil took advantage. Chupi hit Jesus Cruz with a back to back backbreaker and held Jesus Cruz bent backwards on Chupi's back, Virgil got into the ring, stood on top of Jesus Cruz, jumped up and hit Jesus with a Cannonball. Chupi made the pin and got the pinfall.   The 2nd match was the main event, which was Adam Thornstowe vs CCW champion Vinnie Massaro. The match went really good but not so much for me. At one point during the match, Adam went for a superkick on Vinnie while Vinnie was facing me, Vinnie had gone to hit Adam with a elbow but Adam ended up ducking and Vinnie almost nailed me with the failed elbow because I was behind Adam but Vinnie was able to stop himself before nailing me. So while Vinnie was facing m and his back toward Adam, Thornstowe went to nail a superkick from behind but Vinnie ducked and Adam nailed me with it instead....and that didn't feel to good. I was out.....but what's new. Apprently while I was out, Massaro nailed Adam with the CCW title, but since I was out, I didn't see it, had no idea it happen and when I was waken up a bit, Vinnie was making the cover on Adam and got the win.   After I rang the bell, the rest of Buddy Sotello's synicate came out (Badapples, Rik Luxury who replaced Ryan Drago) and started attacking Thornstowe, I was still recovering. Big Ugly, and Scum members Luster the Legend and Shane Dynasty ran out from the back to get the Synicate off of Adam. When I started standing up, Adam got in my face about the belt shot but I told him I didn't see any belt shot as he nailed me with the Superkick, after telling Adam what happen I tried to leave the ring, but apprently Big Ugly wasn't to happy and the next thing I knew I was in a half nelson being held by Ugly.......yeah, not good. Luckily Ugly let me go and I left the ring really quickly.   So other than the superkick from Thornstowe, CCW was good and fun, but it doesn't seem I won't be doing a CCW show for a few months. The next show is on November 17th, which is my birthday and I decided to take all wrestling related stuff on my birthday so I could just relax. Then the next CCW show is on December 15th, but Devil Mountain Wrestling is also running on that date, and Devil Mountain is my home, so that's where I'll be. After CCW was over, I made that long drive to Oakland to do Rocky Horror where my Saturday night ended after Rocky.   Sunday was SPW in Sacramento. This was my 2nd time working SPW and it was a historic/great night. It was a historic for a few reasons, one reason was because Rik Luxury and Adam Thornstowe had a 60 minute hardcore ironman match that I will talk about in a few minutes but the other reason is because The Gangstas re-united. Yes New Jack and Mustafa put all their past issues in the bag and re-united at SPW and they spent the show taking pictures and signing autographs for the fans.   That night I ref'ed two matches. The first match was all 3 Surburban Commandos vs Ryan Drago, Wage, and Luster The Legend, the match went well with the Commando's winning after D-unit rolled up Wage in a school boy while Wage was yelling at Luster for not really getting involved in the match. After the match, Wage attacked Luster before leaving the ring.   The 2nd match was a 4 way tornado elimation match which was The Big Ugly vs Chupacabra vs Virgil vs Dante. This match was great to Ref, as it was just all over the place and the fans loved it. Virgil and Chupi were the first two elimated then Ugly hit a vicious clothesline on Dante and then getting the pinfall victory over Dante.   Now it was time for the main event, for the SPW title, in the 7th match of a best of 7 series, it was Rik Luxury vs SPW Champion Adam Thornstowe in a 60 minute Hardcore Ironman match and honestly this match was un fucking believeable. This is a match you have to see, and as soon as it get's online, I will post it in a thread on the messageboards. You have to see this match. I'm not going to go into full details about it because I really really want people to see this match once it comes online, but here's a few things that happen. Rik drops a elbow off a basketball hoop, Adam doublestomps a flowerpot that has Rik's head in it, barbwire is involved, Adam jumps from the top of the enterance, many things happen but you have to see it to believe how good this match is. I sware if this match gets put online, it will be posted.   The weekend full of shows went really well, but man I spent a lot on gas. I did a lot of driving that weekend and that was kind of the downpoint. I have another wrestling show on the 3rd as Devil Mountain Wrestling is running, then I think I'm taking a break from so many wrestling shows for November. I'm not like burnt out or anything, but I really need to save some money and driving so much, isn't going to help me save any money as my car really isn't a gas saver. I'll try to make another post after the 3rd to let you all know how Devil Mountain went, so until then, please keep enjoying my blogs and thank you for reading.

BAW/CCW post continued, the CCW Show

So after almost missing my flight (I woke up late), I flew from Portland and returned back to the Oakland airport, then I drove home to wash my Ref gear and try to get the blood out of my Ref shirt. On the way home, I stopped at a big 5 and bought a brand new Ref shirt just in case I didn't get the blood stains out when I got home. I already had 2 ref's shirt as it was, but one is a normal ref shirt while the other has a long zipper on it....and guess which one I prefer wearing, the one that doesn't have a long zipper on it, and that one had the blood stains on it so I bought another one that is the same excat one I perfer to wear. Anyways, around 3, I started making my way to CCW in Newman.   Now Newman is quite a way aways from where I live now. So its a nice long drive down a few freeways/highways...but I have having an issue on the entire trip down there. At the end of year 2005, I got in a car accident that broke the piece of my car that holds my blinkers and my headlights. The piece broke on the passenger side of my car...and I haven't been able to get it repaired yet. I have the parts but its either expensive or I've just been to lazy to try and put the pieces on....and I'm also not to good with cars either, so my answer to my broken headlight and blinker? Duct tape the blinker into my car and since the headlight still works, just the casing is broken, put serriane wrap over the broken casing, so no water gets to the blub and breaks it when its on.   Now the duct tape over the blinker was kinda wearing out a bit due to the odd cold and hot weather we've been having lately, and all the way down there, about ever 15 to 20 minutes my blinker would play peek-a-boo with me by popping up over the hood waving hi to me. So I would have to stop and put somew new duct tape on the blinker and car to hold the blinker in...but the roll of duct tape that I had in the trunk was old as well so the damn thing would keep popping up every 15 to 20 minutes. After about the 3rd time of playing peek-a-boo with my fucking blinker, I stopped at a Shell gas station that sold the small rolls of duct tapes for cars, so I bought the last 3 rolls of duct tape and then preceeded to duct tape the hell of my blinker and car....save to say, it stayed in the rest of the trip there and then the trip to Rocky afterwards.   I got the arena just before 6, I said my hellos and then went back to the locker room to get changed again. The Ref's for the show was me and Guido and a new guy whose name escapes me at the moment...I think it was Casey, though I'm not sure. It was good to work with Guido again, I didn't really like working with the last Ref CCW used at last months show. Something just didn't sit well with him, so yeah working with Guido again was a breathe of freash air. The other Ref, Casey, was really new to the scene, so new infact this was going to be his first time Ref'ing! So before the show started me and Guido went over differant things with Casey to make sure he had an idea on what he would be doing. Then the show started at 7 and on we went.   I had the opening match of the night which was a triple threat. It was Ryan Drago vs El Chupacbabra vs Kenny K with his manager Shawn Stevens. This was also my first time doing a triple threat. Everything went really well as I just stayed out of there way and let them do their thing. Ryan Dragon won the match after Chupi submitted to a figure four leglock. After the match Drago kept attacking Chupiacabra's knee until I backed Drago off Chupi. Afterwards I helped Chuupacabra back to the locker room.   The next match I did was a tag team match. It was The Reno Boys (Luster the Legend and Malachi) w/ Buddy Sotello Esquire vs The Rock Legend Scum Adam Thornstowe and "Showtime" Shane Dynasty who holds the Dead Fed title (Formerly the GZW title....that promotion just died after having..umm issues, yeah I'll just use that word.) The backstory of this match was that Buddy Sotello managed both Adam Thornstowe and Shane Dynasty but couldn't produce what he promised both guys and that would be the CCW Heavyweight title that Vinnie Massaro holds, so both Adam and Shane fired Buddy and now we have this match.   This match was crazy and I had already knew it would have been, when you have bad blood between so many people, its going to be a crazy match....and I was right. The match was your pretty standard tag match as both Malachi and Luster kept Shane Dynasty away from his partner and kept working him over. Adam kept trying to get into the ring to make the save but I had to keep cutting him off as he never made the tag. After a little while, Shane made a clean clear tag to Adam then everything went crazier, as all 4 men had gone to the outside. So now I have to deal with Luster the Legend, Buddy Sotello, Malachi, Adam Thornstowe and Shane Dynasty all fighting outside while I have to keep an eye on Buddy Sotello who just happen to be right next to all 4 men fighting. Then all of a sudden when I thought I was getting all 4 guys back in the ring, Shane and Adam threw Malachi in a bunch of chairs, as I was tending to Malachi I looked up into the ring and Adam was pinning Luster so I slid back in and made the 1...2...3. Annoucing that both Shane Dynasty and Adam Thronstowe as the winners of the tag match. After that took place, for some reason The Reno Boys were about to kick Buddy Sotello's ass and after a few minutes...and Buddy's crying and begging, The Reno Boys let Buddy go and we went back to the locker room. That was my final match for the night so afterwards I went and put my street clothes back on.   It was diffently a fun show and I had fun doing both matches. After the show was over, I said my good byes and started making my way to Oakland so I could do the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and that was my wrestling show weekend. I have so much fun working for BAW and CCW but unfortuanily I won't be doing BAW in OR in April as it's getting a bit pricey for me, so I'm going to skip this month's show to save money for the show in May, but of course I'll post a pre-view when BAW puts one out.   I really hope you guys are enjoying my stories about being on the road and working the indy scene....and if your not....to bad. :0)

BAW and CCW show over the weekend.

Over the weekend, I had two shows. I had BAW up in McMinnville Oregon and CCW which was in Newman California.   I'll write about the BAW show because that was the first show I did as the show was on a Friday. So BAW was holding a two day tournament to find out who would be their first Heavyweight Champion. I could only make the first show because at the moment there's been a lot a of drama with Rocky Horror and I have lost most of the lighting crew because of it and I'm not the kind of person who leaves people high and dry, espically on a show that affects other people, I'm just not that kind of person. So I had to be in Oakland for Rocky on Saturday night. The officals of BAW were pretty understanding and were ok with me only doing one of the two shows.   I flew out of Oakland, Friday morning at 9:30. Which was cool because I had enough time to go my work and pick up my check and go cash it at the ATM..a broke Toby going out of state, not a good idea. The flight was nice and easy, left on time, got to Portland a little bit earlier than schduled and the weather...freaking nice. Warm, sunny, barely a cloud in the sky. I got to my hotel a little before noon and took a nap. Before I took my nap, I got a call from BAW letting me know that they'll send someone to pick me up sometime at 4. After a little while, 4 o'clock came around and I waited but no phone call about someone here to get me, so after waiting a little while longer, I called a offical of BAW at 5. She told me that my ride would be there soon after she had picked up Raven....I said okie dokie and we hung up....i started marking out a bit.   I'm going to be riding in the same car as Raven? Holy shit.... I've watched and studyed Raven matches for a few years as he's FUCKING GREAT when it comes to ring psycology. So after a little bit longer, 5:30ish(?), the girl coming to pick me up called me and let me know that she had Raven and was on her way to pick me up. She said she would be there in about 10 minutes so I told her I would be waiting outside. So after a little bit of waiting, I got a voicemail, it was the girl picking me up saying she was at my hotel in the lobby waiting for me.......umm okie dokie. There was only one way to get to my hotel and if she didn't see me, she was at the wrong hotel, so I called her and she said she was Red Lion on 82nd st, but that wasn't my hotel. Apprently there are 3 Red Lion's in Portland...all near the airport...all within a 5 mile radius of each other! WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!? About 15 minutes, a blue van came around the corner with Raven sitting in the passenger seat.   I got into the van, and me and Raven shook hands as we introduced ourselves to one another and within 10 seconds of me getting into the van, Raven told me I already had heat with him. Because the girl who picked myself and Raven up, didn't have the right directions to the right hotel (not her fault, not really mine either as I sent my rotel address before my flight but had no clue if the email got read or not) and we sorta missed about 20 minutes of travel time to get to the show, so Raven didn't have time to sell his merchindise as we wouldn't have gotten to the arena until after 7 because I wasn't picked up till after 6. He wasn't to happy and just wanted to get to the show. Raven wasn't going to stay for the two days either and had a flight schduled for 10:40 later that night and because he was picked up late and because the girl who didn't have my right hotel info wasn't able to pick me up till after 6, Raven had only enough time to get to the show, streatch, get dressed, have a quick match, then leave. I felt pretty bad because I was part of the reason why he had to get there and go, but it wasn't all entirely my fault. So after listening to Raven telling the girl who was driving to drive faster and faster so we can get to the show, we got to the show at 7:20, when the show was just starting. I got my stuff out of the van and went to the back.   The promoter was waiting for us at the back door, I shook his hand told him sorry we are late and he said it was ok and I started walking to the locker room. I saw some wrestlers in the hallway, one of the first people I saw were Kassy Summers. She looked at me surprised, asking what I was doing there, I told her I was Ref'ing the show and she told me there were like 8 Ref's...umm ok. So I kept walking towards the locker room, saying hello to those who I knew and introducing myself to those who I had not seen before. Some of the new faces were Flash Flanigan, Daffney (or lucy), Vic the Bruiser, Haley Hatred, Rayn Caden, Rosey, and a few others. The ones who I already knew were Helfyre, D-Lo Brown, Kassy Summers, New Jack, The Big Ugly JD Bishop, The Blanchard Brothers, The Tonga Kid, Wage Reighten, Terry Bull, The Cosmic River, Superstar Shane Andrews, J.B. Luce, and a few others who I can't remember who all to list at the moment, I'm sure it'll come to me.   After a few minutes I found out what my first match was going to be for the night and it was the re-match between Superstar Shane Andrews and J.B. Luce. At the last show, Luce lost to Shane Andrews due to be rolled up and I made the 3 count, but Luce..and the results sware up and down Andrews grabbed the tights and used the ropes, but I didn't see that. Anyways, so the two of them had a re-match and I was going to Ref it. They had a pretty good match, though when Luce took Andrews up for a side back suplex, Andrews punched J.B. Luce in the head and Luce went down and Andrews made the pin and got the 3 count and the win over Luce for the 2nd time. After Luce got up, he complained to me that Andrews hit Luce with something but it looked clean to me, so I just told him the match was over and it wasn't my fault he couldn't get the job done. We both went to the back arguing...I pretty much stayed away from him for the rest of the night.   My next match of the night was The Big Ugly vs Vic The Bomber. The two of them had a good match with Vic chopping the shit out of Ugly. I've never seen anyone chop Ugly in that kind of way, normally its the other way around. Vic ended up getting the win after Ugly went to splash him and Vic moved out of the way and rolled Big Ugly up with a school boy and got the 1, 2, 3. After this match, there was a woman's match with Haley Hatred vs Kassy Summers, I didn't ref this match but I made a apperance. After the match was over and Kassy picked up the win, Haley attacked Kassy when her back was turned and Daffney ran out to make the save. Haley and Daffney got themselves into a cat fight. I ran out a few seconds later to help the other Ref for the night seperate Daff and Haley...oh by the way, there was only 2 ref's for the night, I had no clue where Kassy came up with 8, but meh.   My next and final match for the night was a New Jack match. It was New Jack w/ Daffney in his corner vs a guy doing sorta like a voodoo gimmick. Sorta like a Papa Shango gimmic. I never caught his name, but once I get it, I'll post it. So not only is this my first time Ref'ing a New Jack match, but its my first Hardcore match as well. This match was a weird one at that. The guy who New Jack was facing came out with a smoking head....a fucking head that was smoking! He laid his stuff in the corner and I was not going to touch it, New Jack and Daffney came out next. New Jack came with a backpack full of goodies. When the match started, the two were punching each other in the corner, when New Jack got a chance, Daffney went into the backpack and got Jack a staple gun. New Jack started shooting staples everywhere and then stuck the staplegun to the other guys head and shot a staple in his head. HE SHOT A MOTHERFUCKING STAPLE IN THIS GUY'S HEAD!!!! I saw it, I saw the staple in his head! The hell!? Man, what the hell!? The match only got crazier, the other guy started coming back and took some kind of bone and started hitting New Jack with it. A few seconds later Jack got the advantage again and Daffney handed him a fucking stun gun and the next thing I know, Jack's shocking the hell out of this guy! Daffney then hands New Jack a sickle...A MOTHER FUCKING SICKLE!!!! Jack starts craving this guys head up with it too! Yeah......both guys are bleeding...a lot and just when you think things just can't get any worse....New Jack goes and gets a dollar from a fan...then the staple gun. The other guy cuts him off though and then takes both the gun and dollar and staples the dollar to Jack's head! Ok I'm ready to call the match but knowing if I might do that, Jack and the other guy might kill me with Daffney yelling at my dead corpse.   So after a few minutes of Jack getting beat down, Jack somehow manages a comeback and Daffney hands him a chair while New Jack is climbing to the top turnbuckle, with chair in hand, New Jack jumped from the top and hit the other guy in the head with the chair. New Jack quickly covers him and gets the pinfall win over him. I went back to the back, and started getting back into my street clothes as it was my last match of the night. I got dressed quickly and watched Helfyre wrestle D-lo Brown. The two of them had a good match, and the end of the match saw D-Lo getting the pin over Helfyre after D-lo hit the sky high on Helfyre.   After the was show was over, I said my good byes to everyone and got a ride back to my hotel room. Where I went to sleep after taking a shower to make sure I had all the blood off of me. I was going to post about CCW in this blog but its sorta getting late so I'll post about it tomorrow or on Tuesday.
