OAO Raw Thread - June/5th/06.

I fully expect to see Angle there tonight to negate RVD's heat.

Porter do me a favor....bring a "boo Cena" sign and make sure it gets on tv. Espically during the contract signing.

I would if they televised me sitting at home in San Diego watching the show.

I'd much prefer if it was Rey/RVD for the Big Gold, instead. At least there'd be a good shot of RVD winning.

With how it is now... I'm fully expecting a "tough" Rey win over Sabu, and a bunch of silliness with the Cena/RVD match.

I know when Raw was here last year, right before Summerslam, and Angle was a full fledged heel pretty much he got cheered here bigtime against Eugene. Now I know Pittsburgh is Kurt's hometown, but Eugene got booed out of the building.

I have faith in my fellow Pittsburgh fans to boo Cena tonight, I will be in attendance tonight as well.

To bad the show isnt in Chicago or Detroit. those two cities have the loudest and most knowledgeble crowds.

Cena would get booed out of the building

It'll get taken away, just like the "Cena Nuff" one did two weeks ago. Vince is still fighting it.

With the exception of maybe WM, my crowd here for New Years Revolution holds the record for most Cena hatred. We were cheering Carlito and Chris fuckin' Masters like they were Hulk Hogan when they attacked Cena.

What I'm going to be woundering about is the crowd reaction for ECW vs. WWE. Dayton ain't exactly old ECW territory, I imagine it's a pretty markish crowd.

ECW ran shows in Dayton a lot, if i'm not mistaken.

Besides maybe we'll see the return of Al Snow with Head!

Dayton was a HARDCORE market for ECW. Some of the hottest crowds and shows came from Dayton. Dayton is smark haven as it's one of ROH's top markets as well.

Trust me, WWE actually did something right by booking the show in Dayton. After NYC, Philly and Chicago...Dayton was the best location for the show.

How is Dayton out of the way for ECW? They ran shows in Florida, Milwaukee, Michigan, New Orleans, Chicago and Los Angeles (sure only once but had it stuck around, they would've done more LA shows). It wasn't a NYC/Philly exclusive promotion.

WONewsletter reader Harold J. Washington sent in word that Rob Van Dam was at the Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, NV., yesterday and was signing autographs and taking pictures with the fans. RVD told our reader that tonight's Raw will probably be his last since he's going to the ECW brand full time. RVD added that for the Wednesday WWE .VS. ECW show, RVD will face Rey Mysterio for the first time ever and John Cena will wrestle against Sabu. The former ECW TV champ seemed excited about the re-launch of the brand and even though they won't have all the old stars back, the new talent will make it just as interesting and believes the new and improved ECW will be better than the previous one.

it'll get confiscated just like that nifty "We've Cena Nuff" sign

How about Prototype should have never left the drawing board?

Cena/Sabu?

RVD/Mysterio?

...they couldn't have just booked the tag match to make it easier? :P

They do have two hours to fill Wednesday night...they have to space shit out.

A lot of people assume that the Eastern seaboard is the only part of the country that gives a damn about wrestling, or aren't complete marks.

These matches seem ok on paper, but the weird thing is, are they both non-title matches? Because I mean I know it is Vince and all but it would seem lame not to put over at least one of the two ECW guys on this show, especially since they are both likely jobbing at ONS.

I also wonder if Sabu shows up tonight on Raw at all to promote his match against Cena. I mean it might be a good idea to at least play a video package of his to give the WWE marks some frame of reference going into the match.

Those two Wednesday matches could really show if ECW or SMACKDOWN is the AAA of the WWE.

And I'm confused, why is there even a contract signing between RVD and Cena? Doesn't the Money in the Bank contract already state that RVD gets the title match whenever he wants? So when RVD said the match was to be at One Night Stand, doesn't that pretty much end the interaction?

I don't recall Edge having to get it signed by Cena before the match. Course I might have been asleep when it happened.

maybe it's because it's taking place at an ECW thing and Cena's not an ECW wrestler. When Edge won, it was between 2 WWE wrestlers at a WWE event

From PWInsider:

The contract signing between WWE champion John Cena and Rob Van Dam will open Monday Night Raw tonight.

A number of ECW names are at the taping, including Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, Sabu and Paul Heyman as the order of business this week is to build up the ECW PPV.

There had been discussion of some sort of confrontation with The Sandman and The Big Show for Raw although I'm not sure if it's just a segment planned or something to build to a match at the ECW One Night Stand PPV this weekend.
