OAO Raw Thread - June/5th/06.

Recommended Posts

Let's just stop with all of this Sabu bashing. He has been a part of some damn entertaining matches in the past, and he is coming straight from TNA where he had some fucking great bouts, especially with Abyss.

Hasn't the invasion angle been done already? Didn't the last attempt have disatrous results? I can't see this invasion going anywhere or leading to anything other than making WWE look better. I know they are creating a new ECW. But you know those wrestlers will ultimately be made to look inferior to home grown products (or wrestlers who've been in WWE for a while).

Was I the only one who thought RAW was actually entertaining last night?

What I liked:

- I marked for Sabu. They had the table set too far away for him to make the full jump, but it still looked brutal when the chair landed on Cena.

- Haas and Nitro had a nice little match. I think Nitro has a lot of potential now as a singles guy (especially if Melina stays with him).

- Carlito brought the workrate in his match against Shelton. I mean, that pinning sequence was pretty sweet at the end.

- The Triple H angle with Vince, while stupid, at least had some humor in it.

Also, what's up with this new team, the Highlanders they have coming in?

Heh, and here I changed the channel during both Haas/Nitro & Carlito/Shelton. Diff'rent strokes, I guess.

The Highlanders are a tag team from OVW. That is their gimmick; what you saw. I watched a match between them and the Untouchables from OVW a couple weeks back which wasn't too bad. The Untouchables have like a Grease gimmick. They act like Travolta from Grease with their slicked back hair and leather jackets. They also have a valet that's on rollerskates. I thought they should've been called up before the Highlanders.

I thought the show sucked ass. I'm not even going to order the PPV this sunday because half the card announced is WWE talent.

Way to go McMahon!

Overall, the show was quite bad, after a few tolerable weeks of Raw.

I wish someone there could convince Vince that nobody but himself finds the "Kiss my Ass" garbage humorous or interesting in any way. The stuff before it with HHH was fine, but it gets trumped with Vince's crap.

With Beth Phoenix' injury, WWE needs to quickly find some way to get Melina in the title picture. If not, then put the women's division down until Trish is healthy again. The Beth angle made no sense, and it's a way out.

That Carlito/Shelton match wasn't bad. I think my dislike of Carlito's prior push has subsided. I hope they feud him with Shelton now, as Carlito is too good to die on Heat duty.

Seeing Harry Smith lead the Raw battalion was hilarious. Hey, ECW! I'm Some Guy! Fear me!

That ECW beatdown of Cena wasn't good. First off, it just seemed like a weak beating, nevermind Sabu's usual botch. Plus, it makes all of ECW look like heels in this. Which isn't how this should work.

When you need to drag out Hacksaw Fucking Jim Fucking Duggan to help Eugene get heat... it's long past due to end Eugene's retard gimmick.

Umaga is awful. And so is Estrada. But, at least Estrada is on the funny level of bad to make it entertaining.

I marked for Murdoch and Cade's victory.

To address Kid Notorious from the previous page. There is a key difference between what they are doing with ECW this year as opposed to last year. Last year they had Bischoff, JBL, Angle and Co. badmouth ECW and try to invade the PPV. What did all the invaders have in common? They were all asshole heels that the crowd wanted to see get beat down.

So now they have guys like Cena and Rey going into this PPV (guys in theory that are faces). It's like they don't want to turn Cena heel so he's sucking up to ECW, but yet all signs point to him having to turn heel in another month or so anyway! But right now you have Cena out here getting his ass kicked by RVD and the ECW guys on a weekly basis and he's not really DOING anything about it. Last night reminded me way too much of a WCW sap like Lex Luger getting beat down by the NWO.

Also, the whole scenario of RVD winning the WWE title and renaming it the ECW title and leaving....it isn't really something that should be mentioned as such. The whole idea behind Shane Douglas doing it was that it was a surprise. RVD and Heyman are practically announcing it to the world.

Now they have themselves booked into a corner it won't be easy to get out of. Even this Wed. show is goofy on that level. Who do you job there? Cena can't really afford to lose to Sabu, while neither RVD or Rey can afford a loss either. Would it be that hard to just do the obvious tag match with Rey/Cena vs. RVD/Sabu and let Sabu get the win over Rey (thus making us think he might win at the PPV and keeping Cena and RVD out of the decision).

At this point, I'll ignore the ECW build and the ppv and just wait for the Sci-Fi show.

Randy Orton killed all the excitement I had built up for the PPV Sunday. They need to give up on that piece of shit.

Lillian getting hurt has become the best part of Raw. It was only a few weeks ago Kane bounced her off the announcers table.

Thanks for posting that youtube video. I missed the bump because I was another room showing someone the pictures Sugar from YTV has on her mySpace profile. I came back to watch the match and saw them carrying Lillian out and it was all very confusing.

if you listened closely you could hear lillian crying in pain as she laid on the floor.

wait, Harry smith ran out there? how did I miss that.

murdoch and cade are back together, well at least that makes better sense then splitting them. but why did cade dye his hair black? he looks like Devon Storm/Crowbar now.

Harry's the one who wore the Union Jack tights as the WWE guys ran off ECW and they panned to the side that faced the titantron.

To be an knockoff of AMW, expect a beer bottle next. He goes with Umanga...the fake ass Samoa Joe.

After a couple of off weeks RAW is back to 4.0 ratings this week. From PWInsider:

- RAW on Monday did a 4.0 rating off hours of 3.7 and 4.3.

- AM RAW did a 0.9 rating
