2007: Most disastrous year in WWE history?

I guess you watch absolutely nothing from Japan then. -

That article made absolutely no sense to me. It says Orton attempted suicide, but gives no details other than it was in the last 12 months. Then it spends the rest of the article calling the WWE bullshit. I have no idea what it was trying to accomplish, because it was obviously, trying to accomplish something dodgy as that was not pure journalism at all. -
I really don't understand your question. If you're saying if any WCW Monday night wars era champ was better than Cena, then I'd just say Bret Hart. If you're saying that if WCW was still around would they have a better champ, then I'd say that if TNA (as their closest compettion) was booked somewhat sensibly and had a decent show, then I'd happily watch Angle as champ every week. Or Joe. Or Raven.

You know ECW's sign guy trick of putting a stop sign between two bits of card and making a sign on one of them? Has no one thought of that for some slightly risque signs? -
More than likely, since Cyber Sunday is supposed to have Cena/Orton HIAC, I believe. So for those who saw this tonight, is it the worst ppv of the year as Meltzer was saying? I didnt even bother ordering. It wasn't bad. Better than Vengeance. Nah Vengence nudges by only having one shocker (D&D match). The main-event of this was awful, overall it was even worse than JD, the GAB, or anything else this year.

Who do you think will take up the offer then? Jannetty is the only name that popped into my head immediately. -
Yeah my mind went blank on me, didn't remmeber the backstory to the rematch. Which makes me look slightly retarded, as I've said multiple times on here that I wanted a good hate feud, and this one has been delivering pretty well. So yeah, WOOOOO CENA-ORTON II
-
Why are you all so pimped for Orton-Cena II? Their first match was good, and had lots of crowd heat, but it wasn't great. There was nothing specifically awesome about it that's for sure.

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

I don't follow MMA, has Lesnar signed for his 2nd fight? Or is there any strong rumours on when it's gonna be? -

Even though billed weights are pure BS, Aries has bolstered his weight claim by 28lbs since that match. Kennedy's only knocked himself up 12lbs. -
When he first came in and was getting squashed by Kevin Thorne, they'd be maybe 3 people doing the "Balls" chant with the jabs. Now the whole arena goes nuts for it.
-
I also thought he looked drunk on the last RAW. After seeing 2 or 3 of his shoots and saying how he was drinking before matches, I've always looked to see if he was drunk when coming down to the ring. This week was the first time I've ever thought he'd had a fair bit to drink.

I watched a Benoit vs Liger match a few days ago, and felt nothing. Am I the only one who can watch a Benoit match and not feel guilt, anxiety, anything? -

Having seen both Dreamer's and Rock's chair shots, Dreamer wins. It was just so more vicious and with much more evil intent. -
By the time they said he was fair-haired, I was screaming "JERICHO! SID! THEY'RE BOTH STILL IN! IT'S GONNA BE AWESOME NO MATTER WHAT!" Granted, I did laugh at Hornswoggle, and kudos for those who called it last week, but still, this would have been the best RAW in months if Jericho had returned. Sayiong that, it's good to finally see a true hate angle between Cena and Orton. When was the last time you saw 2 guys who despise each other saw much get to fight it out on the main event? Hell, on any PPV at all? The match of Summerslam was not awesome like a lot of you thought, to be honest for what I was hoping it was below-par, but it was still better than average. With the added hate it should be truly awesome at Unforgiven.

Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released

To be honest, if WWE, TNA, and all the big indy's were to ban chairshots to the head and tone down the violence, I'd start watching a whole lot more Big Japan deathmatches. You don't get that level of real violence in boxing, or MMA, or movies, and yes, it is part of the appeal. If that makes me a sicko, I don't really give a damn. -
When the first rumours of a top star leaving came about, I thought it might have been Booker. I remember him saying that he would have quit already, but having his wife on the road with him made it easier on his personal life.

That's why I think the chemicals did more damage, seeing as Foley has mentioned how he barely drinks, and keeps away from most substances. Reading his books and hearing how he was disappointed in himself after taking one pain pill to get through a day with his kids shows how little damage he's done to his body in the way of meds. Yet he's done exceedingly enormous amounts of damage to his body from bumps, the back of his 1st book from 1999 says he's had 8 confirmed concussions, and that was before the I Quit match, the series with Triple H, and the hardcore matches in 2006. So that's why I think the pills must have messed up Benoit more than the matches. -
I'm starting to think that a part of the reason the belt's been on Cena so long is that he's always been totally professional. Orton, Rey, Booker and Kennedy got busted with drugs, Batista's been involved in fights and other backstage shit, and even guys like Undertaker have had some bad press with stuff like Wrestler's Court and bullying rookies. But then again, the only other main event guy I can think of who completely kept his nose clean is Kane, and he hasn't really had much in the way of title runs.

I'm saying that if there was actual substantial impact with the majority, or even say 1 in 10, of his diving headbutts, then he wasn't as good a worker as well all thought he was. He should have fucking protected himself. ...ugh, you try doing it and see if you can protect yourself 100% each and every time, moron. Well maybe if I couldn't protect myself and do the move safely, I would stop doing the move. I just saying we shouldn't feel sympathy for Benoit if this condition was caused mainly by his diving headbutt move, because he must have known if it was giving him concussions every other week (And seeing as he spent a large amount of time in either NJPW, WCW or the WWE, there would have been doctors present telling him he's concussed). If it was causing him that much damage, he should have done the sensible thing and took it out of his moveset. -

Kid also took shit loads of just about everything, probably just like Benoit. So apologies, scratch that off the list, why isn't Sayama nuts? -

I refuse to believe Chris Benoit's mnetal problems stemmed from freaking diving headbutts. If so, why aren't Sayama and Dynamite in serious mental problems? The chair shots though, yes it could be a factor, and yes it should probably just be back shots/hand protected head shots except in rare occasions, but to ban them outright will be silly. (Plus if they do then we all know all the fucking indy kids will be shotting chairs around every match and people REALLY will get hurt). -

ECW has been better than solid, it's been great. RAW however veers week to week from alright to awful, and I don't even bother watching Smackdown anymore. -
Didn't anyone else notice that the WGTT - Londrick match was possibly the best match on RAW all year?
