Who would you prefer winning at SSlam?

I would have said Cena a couple of months ago, as I wanted the year-long reign. Not because he deserves it or anything, but because I enjoy the X-Pac heat he gets and I thought it would have built up to nuclear levels if he had held onto the belt that long. But fuck, I'm really liking Orton now. The slight shift in his gimmick works so well, that I'm actually looking forward to Cena vs. Orton. The thing is, I'm not so sure it'll work so well when he's the No. 1 man, but I want to see if it will.

The OaO Raw Thread for August 20, 2007

The tag match with Londrick was good, and Marella/Simmons continues to be fun, but everything else sucked. I've only been paying attention to where the show's have been airing from for a few months, but it seems the Carolinas really go for who the bookers tell them to go for. I couldn't hear any real booing for Cena at all, which sucks, because I like him acting the good guy and getting shat on because of it. Btw, did no one here the fan shout "Hey you nigger!" at Booker, right after he shoved JR back into his chair? You guys seem to pick up on everything.

I saw the footage months back when this news story first broke, I'm surprised it's gone to trial.

No, I'm not liking Orton just because he's better than Cena, I'm liking Orton himself.

    The LIVE on-going SNME Thread

I spoiled the Orton run-in by accident, and thought to myself "Ho-hum, RKO on a steel chair flat in the ring." So Orton instead killing Cena was a welcome surprise for me. How the hell has Orton become my favourite heel in the company.

    What are you watching?

I want to post in this thread all the time, but I reckon my memory isn't good enough to watch something a few hours before then post here. But seeing as I'm watching Cyberslam 97 and the 2nd match is about to start, I'll post a few match reviews. Chris Chetti vs Little Guido I've seen a couple of Guido matches in the original ECW, and loads of him getting squashed in the new one. He's alright in my book, neither love him or hate him. All I know of Chris Chetti is that he's Taz's cousin, never seen him wrestle. Chetti gets jobber entrance. Tommy Rich cuts a promo about being Italian, and JT Smith is MIA. Had he left the company by this point? A "We want JT" chant starts up, I want him too, I love the crazy botching fool. Chetti hits a frankensteiner early on for a 2 count, while Tommy interferes constantly. Guido comes back on the offence, getting some shots in along with a gut wrench rib breaker. Chetti sells a suplex likes he broke his back, then gets tossed outside so Rich can dump him nuts first onto the guardrail. After getting tossed back into the ring, he gets hit with some chops and a sweet powerslam. Guido stays on top with some leg drops and scoop slams, getting more 2 counts. After ducking a clotheline and hitting a spinning heel kick, Chetti goes for another frankensteiner but gets powerbombed. Guido gets another 2 count, then after Rich encourages him, goes for a top rope kneedrop. Chetti moves, hits a rolling cradle, and picks up the win. 5:46 Chris Chetti beats Little Guido with a rolling cradle ** - Guido is good and hits some nice power moves we'll never see in the WWE due to his size. But Chetti had no character, and his selling wasn't strong enough, so I had nothing to root for. Ah screw it, it's too hard. I can't follow the match and comment at the same time.

    WWE announces 2007 DVDs

I have a best of RAW vol. 1 tape, came in a boxset with WM16. Late 97-Mid 98, includes stuff such as Kane's introduction up to the WM 14 match, Sable/Jacqueline bikini contest, D-X reforming with X-Pac and the Outlaws, and shit loads of Austin.

    *Smackdown Spoilers*

There's a tiny clip of D'Lo's splash at 3:09 in this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ybedW0prUU. Anyways, I haven't watched Smackdown in a few weeks due to their depleted roster, as I onlt want to watch MVP/Matt/Finlay. I'll start tuning back in when Rey and UT and back on full-time, doesn't look like I'm missing much.

WWE General Discussion for August 2007

I don't know really, it didn't seem that there was that much in it. He made a couple of criticisms on McMahon, but they weren't full on insults, and he always seemed to balance them with compliments. And he had a couple of sly digs at HHH, but he never mentioned his name when he did them.

WWE General Discussion for August 2007

Foley's books are very good, but each one is worse than the former. The Rock's was crap. As is HBK's, as he spends exactly the same amount of time on everything regardless of it's importance. Some house show program he worked with Goldust in 96, Summerslam 96, and Mind Games all got the same amount of lines, which was about 3. I'll be getting Jericho's though.

    oAo ECW on Sci-Fi -- 8/14/2007

We've been watching Snitsky for a freaking year, that's what. And Viscera can work a good squash match, has a unique look, sells his character well, and can throw a freaking awesome spinning heel kick.

    *Smackdown Spoilers*

Damn, I wish I hadn't deleted that recent NOAH show where D'Lo and Buchanan had a GHC Tag Title shot. With Buchanan and Rikio it was a pretty stale match, but D'Lo busting a splash from the top rope over the guardrail onto the announcers table on the over side was quite a sight.

OaO Monday Night Raw Thread - 08/13/07

The way wrestling is nowadays your friends are going to think you're more stupid for being a fan than for incorrectly guessing a storyline. Much better RAW than last week though, with another awesome Regal segment. I think the WWE has realised they've hit gold with it. Nothing really stunk tonight at all (Hey wow, no Diva matches or Cena promos, what a coincidence), and they actually had a good main event. They've actually managed to build Randy Orton into someone on at least an equal level of Khali and Umaga in being able to pry the belt off Cena, and that's pretty remarkable. Awesome LARIATOOOOO~! by him as well.

OaO Monday Night Raw Thread - 08/13/07

I'd actually prefer Iron Shiek to be on RAW instead of Triple H tonight. Not that I don't want ol' Roman Nose to come back, but I love the idea of Shiek with a live mic.

OaO Monday Night Raw Thread - 08/13/07

If I remember correctly, Umaga and Khali basically tossed Cena around like a ragdoll for 5 minutes, then when they started in-fighting Umaga tossed Khali out the ring or something, then Cena sneaked an F-U on Umaga. So it wasn't like he destroyed them both, it was his typical underdog comeback win.

Going to a house show next week

Does Booker not do house shows anymore? I thought with him doing a radio show and having a school he'd be pretty pressed for time, so it might explain how he manages to do it.

    IGF Results...

No I'm British. Tenzan and Sasaki et al are definitely big names, but I just don't like them, and I don't like the general NJPW heavyweight style. So Angle, who is a guy who I like a lot in the ring, destroying them would be fun for me.

    ECW on 8/7

Screw Dorwning Pool and Marilyn Manson, why can't they keep the old-school ECW theme for the show? I got all nostaglic when they played it last week.

    IGF Results...

I don't understand how there could be three variations of the IWGP heavyweight title in existence. This is very much akin to the NWA heavyweight title being splintered in the 30s and 40s with many claiming to have possession of the title. Personally, if Brock was screwed then that was his fault. He should have read the contract in full or at least have a competent translator and attorney who would have made sure that it was what he was signing for. Second, the IGF is a breakaway promotion of New Japan. Inoki should have had his version of a heavyweight strap ready to give to Kurt Angle, and given the IWGP 3rd Belt back to its owners, no questions asked. It's a shame that it had to come down to this, but I, for one, would like to see Nakamura end this shame once and for all. I would also like a unification match, but with Angle winning. Nakamura, Tenzan, Chono, Nagata? There's no big-name in New Japan that I like, and watching Angle destroy one of them would be fun.

oAo Monday Night Raw Thread -- 8/6/2007

3.8? Crap. There was a couple of bright moments, but overall this RAW was the shittest in a long while. Overlong boring battle royal, really shitty squash (Big Daddy V has shown how squashes can be fun), super-shitty women's match, worst Cena segment ever (and that says a hell of a lot), crappy Booker match (and I love Booker). Granted, the Dating Segment was funny. A lot funnier than most of the stuff I've seen on TV last week. And the Cena - Umaga match was buliding up alright til the shitty face turn finish (I really wanted Umaga to BUTT-splash both of them and have a full out monster tweener). Also, the last little segment was fun with the reference to London and all, but it just built to another shitty McMahon storyline.
