  1. http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/4039/wweupdatefk1.gif No idea whether that graphic works or not but I'm posting it anyway so it doesn't go completely to waste. Haven't had the chance to read the show...I'll try to give some feedback if I can find the time/energy/whatever.
  2. I remember once during a Kane/Snitsky match, Lawler said something like "these fans are really loving this match" while in the background you can CLEARLY see the crowd doing the wave. I thought that was pretty funny.
  3. Possible Stupid Question Alert: With Dominick being involved in this whole Guerrero storyline, have they made any reference to the "I'm your Papi" angle from last summer?
  4. They defintely called it in their rematch, though.
  5. I'd have marked for a big "strait edge says I'm better than you" right there.
  6. Actually, "cooning" refers more to the minstrel-esque mentality of blacks who play up the negative stereotypes surrounding the race for the sake to entertaining whites and others. I haven't watched Raw in ages so I can't comment on the gimmick.
  7. I dunno if this counts, but: "Did you ever notice that Tupac and Makeveli look JUST ALIKE"? --Me circa 1997 without even a hint of sarcasm. And what's bad about that is that I was actually a hip hop fan (though admittedly, not as much as I am now), so yeah I got clowned pretty bad for that one. Like Citrus, I can't name any rockers/country stars outside of maybe a handful of people/groups I've heard of through the net. Also, I barely watch TV, so I doubt I could list too many of today's big name celebrities if I tried.
  8. That was actually Austin and Owen in their rematch from Summerslam. The ending was so abrupt that even JR had to comment "I thought Austin would've wanted to punish him a little more." I was just watching the HBK/Austin vs Owen/Bulldog tag title match from 97, and I've gotta say the finish for that one comes outta nowhere. Not to the point where it hurts the match (it actually adds a lot to it), but even now, knowing how things went down, the ending kinda catches me off guard whenever I watch it.
  9. On that note, Razor and the Kid from 93.
  10. I thought RVD's reigns in 02 were pretty good, but I can say I cared for Orton's. He rarely seemed to focus on the belt while he had hit, and once he really started hitting a stride as champion, they jobbed him out and moved him onto the World Title. And on that note, one thing that bugs me about how the title's handled these days is that the champion never gets the chance to challenge for the World belt anymore. Back in the day, it wasn't inconceivable for I-C titleholders to challenge for the title (and in some cases win the title), and I think that in itself did a lot to raise the title's image. You'd almost never that now, and in the rare instance the champion is considered for a main event push, they always drop the belt before hand, which is kinda corny.
  11. I saw this over at IP, but I didn't see a thread here so I decided to post the link. If it's already been discussed or anything, then delete it. http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2003560...6340312,00.html
  12. Yeah. It's actually the computer given to her by her old job, and apparently they never gave her any disks. I'll probably end up doing it manually. Thanks for the help.
  13. Well, we don't have the CD or the bootable disk, and I have no clue how to remove the hard drive.
  14. My mom recently sold an old computer, which we found out today still has a lot of her personal information on it. Now naturally, we'd like to get this information off the machine before giving it up, and we need to do so ASAP since the person who bought the machine is supposed to come pick it up tomorrow. I advised her not to go through by hand and start deleting stuff, but without any of the original software that came with it, we're unable to restore it to the factory settings. Anybody have any advice on what I should do? Is there somewhere I can download something that should allow me to reset the machine (it's operating on Windows 95, BTW)? Should I just take my chances and delete the stuff, or is there some other solution I'm missing?
  15. So when does the Zero Hour change come into effect? Are there gonna be two Zero Hours this year or are y'all waiting til next year to do it again?
  16. LOL at the guy screaming "This is very ECW" just before the break.
  17. Funniest thing about this report to me is the idea of Vince being upset that Heyman built a fanbase that won't accept change. Now ignoring the stupidity running a show build to capitalize on nostalgia and then being surprised when your target fanbase doesn't accept something that differs from the original, you mean to tell me that in ECW they've got fans that are a) loyal to the brand name and b) vocal enough to more or less tell you what you need to do to get their money, and that's a bad thing? Yeah, in order for ECW to have any legs, they're eventually gonna have to do something to separate itself from the original, but for the time being, if they wanna capitalize off the ECW name, wouldn't common sense tell you to at least try to recreate the original as closely as possible? This isn't rocket science.
  18. They tried too hard with #3.
  19. I really miss Fonzie being there to take the belt off of Rob during his introduction.
  20. Looked like it said "ECW needs Corino"
  21. They're killing me with all these bullshit skits.
  22. I'm guess this is directed at me. Either way, my point is that knowing and/or caring about backstage happenings doesn't make you smart by any means. To me the fan who posts "fuck Steph and Gewirtz" because of their rumored treatment of Heyman is really no different than the fan who boos heel X because he did something dastardly to face Y. You're marking one way or the other.
  23. To me, backstage knowledge is irrelevent when determining who's a smark and who's not, because whether you're it's from a wrestling promoter or a wrestling reporter, chances are you're being worked one way or the other. Besides, with the internet being as prevalent as it is, I'm willing to bet that most fans (or at least half) have been exposed to at least some insider info. Hell, at my high school, I can remember some of the casual fans surfing sites like LOP and telling me about the Corporate Ministry at least 2 weeks before they debuted. And I really don't like to get into all the generalizations either, because for every hardcore Benoit fan out there, you've got somebody like me who roots for Chyna. Speaking for myself, the only discernable difference I see between my "mark" days and my current view of wrestling (which is more "smarkish" than anything) is that now I have a better understanding of why I react to certain matches/angles the way I do. Overall, my tastes haven't changed.
  24. That'd have been a lot better if they had him (the stripper) interupt Kelly to show her how it's done, then have Sandman out for the save.
  25. A World Title match where the champion plays second fiddle to a dog, feuds centered around t-shirts and shampoo, the whole Katie Vick storyline and some of the flat out stupidest booking I've ever seen. Even the stuff you mentioned really wasn't all that great IMO. HBK is my all-time favorite wrestler, and while I too enjoyed the hell outta the street fight, I thought the build-up and feud that followed was bland, predictable and at times intelligence insulting (I'm mainly referring to the whole "who took out HBK" angle that led to the signing of the SummerSlam match). NWO's running down the Rock would've been cool had the attack not been largely no sold a couple of weeks down the line...not to mention Rock going on to forgive and team with Hogan despite him trying to kill him a month earlier. Brock getting the belt wasn't that bad in retrospect, but the man had one sucessful title defense before dropping the belt to the Big Show, who a month prior had been jobbing to Jeff Hardy (though I'll admit they did a fairly good job of rebuilding him for the match). For the sake of not being too negative, I will say that the Smackdown six era was pretty good, and 02's SummerSlam and Survivor Series shows were among my all-time favorite PPVs, but aside from that I *HATED* 2002 with a passion. Anyway, my rankings: 2001: The biggest knock against this year is probably the Invasion, but even during this period the TV was still fairly enjoyable with psycho Austin as Champion and feuds like Rock/Jericho. There were even a handful of cool "holy shit" moments thrown in there with the WCW buyout, DDP's debut as the stalker and the ECW reunion (although all were botched in the long run). And whether it made sense or not, I'll admit marking like a madman for the 2 man Power Trip (Austin and HHH). Austin's beatdown on Lita was a great moment. 2003: I thought 03 was fun overall, as things really seemed to fall into place after the brand split. One thing I really dug about this period (mainly on the Smackdown side, though) was the emergence of a lot of "new" stars (not necessarily new faces, but more in terms of how they were being presented). For example, Brock really started coming into his own (especially after the heel turn), you had Cena getting hot with the rap gimmick, Los Guerreros, Mysterio, WGTT, Mattitude, Christian, and even guys like Spanky and Tajiri seemed to be getting over for a time. There was some great stuff from the Rock on the Raw side, and we also had some great matches such as Benoit/Angle, HBK/Jericho (I know...), Brock/Benoit, and I personally enjoyed the Mysterio/Tajiri series towards the end of the year. And while Raw has been almost consistently bad since the split, I think they had probably their best run with Goldberg as champion. The booking really began to shape up during this time, as they made the best use of their full roster that I can remember (anyone remember Jindrak and Cade beating up Evolution and stealing their money during the Goldberg bounty angle?). 2004: I didn't really like 04 at all, for a lot of the reasons others have pointed out. I pretty much tuned out on Smackdown after that Angle with Big Show trying to kill Kurt Angle and Torrie Wilson, not to mention the JBL push and the gimmicky stuff with Kenzo and the like. Raw had some pretty good matches with Benoit as champ, but not much else. Just a really bland year overall. Favorite moment for me (excluding the obvious Mania ending) would be the Smackdown where psycho Kurt shows up to beat down Eddie, who had one arm tied behind his back. 2002: Already covered. Not last mainly because of the Smackdown 6 stuff. 2005: Had probably the best single match build I can remember with the Elimination Chamber stuff, and some great stuff from the HBK/Hogan program, but aside from that 05 sucked.
