  1. They didn't promote another bowl b/c the Rose Bowl wouldn't let them. The Rose Bowl got all pissy and said "Fuck this! We want Pac 10/Big 10 every year or we're gone!" So they had to appease them. Oh and by the way you don't want them to promote the Cotton Bowl. That place is a DUMP. And it doesn't even have enough seats for OU/Texas....it definetly wouldn't have enough for a national title game. Oh and the +1 system would be good in situations like last year but it wouldn't be good when there is one undefeated team. Would it have been fair for OU in 2000 to play another game!? Miami in 2001? OSU in 2002? No it wouldn't have. They were undefeated and won there bowl game. National champs like it always has been. I actually thinkt hey should take into account what the writers say LESS. Because they are subject to human bias and that stupid "What have you done for me lately?" bias. The Coaches are prone to the same bias but I think they may be more professional than the writers in the long run.
  2. Stephen A. Smith is still refusing to believe that Detroit is better. He is saying "Well I'll give them credit but LA lost tonight because of LA!" or something to that degree and Byron Scott is treating him like a moron. I think it's even funnier that everyone is comparing Jordan and Kobe and then Kobe has an aboslutely terrible game. Just wonderful.
  3. When Kareem Rush came in and like immediately hit a 3-pointer I went "OH NO! NOT KAREEM!" because I do fear the man's ability after the Minnesota game. Luckily he was held off. Any time Mvedenkoarfnheoth tries to shoot the ball I scream "YES! SHOOT IT!" because well.......he sucks.
  4. Also...why did the crowd go nuts when Darko stepped in? Because they knew he was a rookie that hasn't seen much action so Brown figured it was in the bag?
  5. So is everyone who's saying that Detroit is putting more effort into it admitting that Detroit is better than LA or are you trying to say "If LA tried they'd win!" Because if that's what you're saying.....you're a moron. And what was that I saw tonight!? The UNSTOPPABLE SHAQ WAS STOPPED!
  6. Quit saying The Lakers are unmotivated. They are motivated. They just AREN'T GOOD ENOUGH to beat Detroit! Detroit is just flat out better than LA. I wonder how ANYONE can deny this. They beat up on them in Game 1. Kept it close in Game 2. And then just absolutely demolished them in Game 3. I don't want to declare it over until Detroit wins one more like this though. Oh I went back to the sports bar to watch it tonight. Good night all around.
  7. It's been completed and it's confusing as hell. Basically we'll have 10 bowl teams now. 8 that play in the regular BCS bowls then one of the bowls will host a National title game between #1 and #2. But it won't be called like the Rose Bowl or Sugar Bowl. It'll just be the national title game. And it's not a +1 game. Basically the example I was given was this. Let's say this year was the Rose Bowl's rotation. So USC and Michigan would have played in the Rose Bowl then the next week at the site of the Rose Bowl OU and LSU would've played in the national title game but it wouldn't have been the Rose Bowl. I understand it but I don't understand why they didn't just take an existing bowl and add it to the rotation.
  8. Ben Wallace has already pretty much said that the loss isn't weighing on him at all and he thinks the media is making something out of nothing. I don't think it's a dagger like Derek Fisher's shot was.
  9. Maybe because what you said was stupid and you have stupid friends. Ask your friends why they are morons, don't ask everyone else why Ken Griffy isn't considered black. And apparently having cornrows= calling women bitches and being a thug. Why don't you name these, THUGS who you can't understand in a post game interview. I am scanning my mind, and I have been watching basketball for about 20 years now, and I can't think of any THUG speak on a post game interview. But hey, they probably had cornrows. I can't understand what Karl Malone says after games.....but that's usually because he talks like he has a mouth full of marbles. And I usually can't understand what the hell Gary Payton is talking about. It's usually something involving himself and everyone hating him but it just sounds like "Me me me me me me......me.......ME!" rather than coherent language.
  10. But it's not the same as the Jazz winning a couple of games. The Jazz didn't embarass the Bulls in one game and then take them to the wire in another game where they were expected to dominate. This whole series so far has got to be just flat out embarassing for LA. They were supposed to sweep and be this monster team.....hasn't happened. I think Detroit is better than them. They are proving it and they will prove it again tonight. This jackass on the radio today was like "Yeah well Detroit has gotten really lucky so far and LA isn't playing very good. They're playing very sluggish. Well even though they're going back to Detroit I don't think LA will lose another game in this series. They're going to win tonight. No doubt about it. And they'll sweep Detroit at home." HOW CAN ANYONE SAY THAT SHIT!? Detroit pretty much had there way and made LA like it in Game 1 and LA escaped Game 2 barely.....and still took a nice ass whooping and even celebrated like they had just won an enormously tough game(which it was). AND THIS WAS ALL ON THERE HOME FLOOR! How anyone could still be doubting Detroit is beyond me.
  11. See iggymcfly you just seem like you're drinking the Laker kool-aid. You're saying "They WILL win the championship." Like it's a foregone conclusion. While Detroit has proved in the past 2 games that it is not a foregone conclusion and Detroit has a really good chance to win it. I don't understand the people still saying "Oh yeah. LA will win. No doubt in my mind." If you have no doubt they'll win then you must have not been watching these last two games and paying attention to what is happening. Because Detroit is proving they are just as good if not better than LA. It is not a foregone conclusion at all that LA is winning. As of right now it's looking like they have a better chance to lose than to win. Just after what happened in those last two games. Detroit came out and impressively won Game 1 and nearly won Game 2. A game everyone said LA had to blow them out in mind you. The really big variable in this series I think is the coaches. They're both great and both will come up with a plan to counter the other. I can see LA winning on the strength of Phil Jackson's mind more than anything.
  12. Funny, most of the pre-series articles I've been reading from the media have been of the "here's why Detroit can beat the Lakers" variety. Really? I've just seen snooty "The Lakers are going to destroy them!" articles. However even though the Lakers won last night I think it was a wake up call to everyone. Because I'm reading a lot of "The Lakers are in trouble" articles. Another thing that I thought of is this. If Detroit wins two at home. Which I fully expect them to do then the pressure is still on The Lakers going back to LA b/c they'll have to win 2 straight to take the series. And it's not that far fetched to see Detroit sweep at home. Hell knowing Jackson's coaching ability it's not so far off to imagine LA sweeping. Though it's easier to imagine Detroit doing it rather than LA.
  13. The then and now was pretty good. I liked the highlight package that showed all the great teams, moments, and tragedies of the past 25 years. I may be a little bias towards the package since they showed my Sooners winning the national title in 2000......but it was still a good package. I even got a little choked during the tragedies part. From Magic announcing he can't play anymore to Dale Earnhardt.
  14. Hell even if LA wins in 7 it still proves all the media experts wrong. Because they are giving Detroit zero chance and saying it won't even be a series. Now Detroit looks like the team to beat...not LA.
  15. No I'm not saying that Detroit will win all 3. I'm saying that playing in LA they've proven means nothing. They dominated LA in Game 1 and nearly beat them in Game 2. It took a clutch shot and overtime to get the job done. And if they dominate a couple of games in Detroit and LA barely pulls out a victory in one of those games then the series is over. Detroit will win. And I'm surely expecting that to happen. Detroit is proving they are just as good if not better than LA. I know the players had to be happy about there victory last night but you know in the back of there head they were thinking "Holy shit! Who the fuck were those guys!? We're in trouble." Oh btw. Did anybody else just want last nights game to end? Not because it sucked but because you just couldn't take anymore!? The game is so good and so filled with drama that you feel like you're going to have a heart attack sitting there? Yeah it was for me. I went into the bathroom and there was a line and I said "I can't take overtime!" and the whole bathroom laughed and was like "Me neither!" and then this one guy said "My wife hates basketball but she leaned over and said I'm so nervous! I can't take anymore of this!" Best game of the playoffs by far.
  16. I don't think being in LA for Game 6 and 7 really matters. They proved in Games 1 and 2 that being in LA means jack shit.
  17. I'm officially making my prediction now. I'm picking Detroit to win this series. But I can't decide if it'll be in 5 or 6......hmmm.......I'll go 6.
  18. Exactly Ripper. LA has not looked like the strong team that is going to roll over there opponent in this series. They haven't looked anything like that. Detroit has been playing like the heavy favorite that got upset last night. Better go back to the drawing board Phil or else your team dies in Detroit.
  19. I watched this at Buffalo Wild Wings. A sports bar/restraunt. They had TV monitors everywhere and wall sized TV's. And the game boomed over the restraunt speakers. Overall the place was about 90-10 Detroit. When Detroit went on that incredible end of game run the place went fucking nuts. Then when Kobe hit the last 3 pointer everyone was like "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" They had monitors in the bathroom walls and when Shaq hit that dunk in overtime everyone in the bathroom threw there hand up and yelled then realized they were pissing everywhere and quickly put them back down. It's great watching the game in that kind of atmosphere. But me and the guys I was with and the guys at the table next to me were discussing the fact that even though they lost.....Detroit still proved something and LA was still embarassed. LA was supposed to come in here and dominate to prove that Game 1 was a fluke. What happened? They needed a last minute Bryant shot to stay alive. Sure they dominated the overtime but the game itself was almost lost. And the fact they couldn't blow out Detroit and had to beat them in overtime is even worse considering Detroit dominated them in Game 1. Detroit once again proved that they are just as good if not better than the Lakers tonight. Yes there is a first time for everything and noticing how good Detroit is...they could take all of the games at home. Detroit wasn't even playing there A game until the end and they still almost won. While LA was on there A game. VitaminX that quote from Cena's Writer that you have in your sig may be intended as a jab at him......but it's not looking so far fetched. Most people wouldn't see it this way but I think LA winning the series would be an upset after what Detroit proved Tuesday and tonight.
  20. What I don't understand is this. The situation we had this year was a freak occurence. I don't believe it'd happen to often. One team will go undefeated next season. Now how is it fair for that team to have to play another game? They're undefeated. They won there bowl game.....they should be national champs. But wait a minute. You have to play another game where you could possibley lose on a fluke! Sorry for your hardwork of going the whole season undefeated and then dominating your bowl game. This 2 loss team here beat you and are national champs! I know with the frequency of sudden USC bandwagon jumpers on this board that you guys would be furious if they went through the regular season undefeated and beat someone like OU in the national title game. But Georgia who had two losses still made it to the other game and defeated someone like Miami. We have the game......USC doesn't play there best game or is having a bad day(it happens) and suddenly they lose by a field goal and Georgia despite losing twice is declared the National Champs. People would be FURIOUS. Hell I'd be livid. Basically what just happened is no different than what happened last season. I say hold off on the 5th game and only have it when you run into a situation like you had last year. Hell if you have 2 one loss teams then the format currently works. It works for 2 undefeated's as well. It's just when 3 teams get into the mix that things get out of hand. I'd love for one team from every major conference to go undefeated. Watch them try to figure that one out.
  21. This one is different though! It's Joe and Jane Schmoe! And they think they're on a reality dating show.

I must watch to much wrestling. Me and my friend just talked about how Smarty Jones should've run into the winners circle and clipped Birdstone from behind. Then he could smash the trophy and eat the reef that Birdstone gets. Then he could tell the fans in Philly to stick it. The Smarty Jones heel turn.
  23. Yeah I heard some excuses made. One guy last night. "Now I'm not taking anything away from the Pistons.......BUT LA was playing sluggish."
  24. Well the thing is that Shaq and Kobe were seemingly forced to play 2 on 5 basketball. And as Spreewell and KG proved...you can't win when you play like that. So if LA wants to win they need to figure something out. And Detroit needs to do the same thing. Imagine if they play exactly like this on Tuesday but Rip shoots 60% throughout the game? Jeez......
  25. I think Detroit has a chance to win 2 at home. Then they'd just have to win another in LA....which they've proved they can do. And Rip wasn't even on tonight....imagine if he'd been on fire!?
