That Redbaron guy...I believe he's a bit of a Maiden mark...

I don't like the inclusions of Kane, Lesnar, and Angle. Kane's never really done anything of huge note, and Lesnar and Angle are still too early in their respective careers to make a good judgement on how great they are. I mean, I'm not saying that they DON'T belong on there, but...not yet. And yeah, I realize that Angle has been around for roughly as long as Jericho, but Jericho beat Rock and Austin, in two straight matches, to win the WCW and WWF titles. That alone puts him on there, kayfabe-wise.

I've always heard the term came from the song Born to be Wild, with the line "Heavy metal thunder" or something like that.

I didn't find Seraph that hard, even when I re-played the battle without using KotR just to see how hard it was. Of course, my characters were all about level 94, Barrett did 9,999 with every single attack, guaranteed, Cloud did close to that, and Cid had slightly less. And they all had 4-Cut Materia. I wasted so much of my life levelling up in that game...

Personally, I don't find AC/DC heavy enough. To me, they just sound like rock. That's a personal thing though, and it doesn't mean I don't like AC/DC - just that I'd call them a hard rock band, not a metal band.
-
See, I do fully realize that there's a hell of a lot more involved then the main event in terms of how well a show does - but I mean, I'm not gonna go around defending the other guy's side, now am I?
-
It's a whole book, actually. It looks to be a neat read, though I've never read it (I glossed through it in Chapters once or twice, but that's it).

I'd like to see the article, actually. I've never heard anyone refer to HBK as a great draw - granted, not a horrible draw, but nothing overly good. And I'd have a hard time believing he did better then Hogan. And don't you think that Mike Tyson and Austin had a lot to do with the WM 14 buyrate? I stand by my original point. Being a talented wrestler does NOT mean that you're also a good draw. Good wrestlers CAN be good draws, but it's not a guarantee.

I think the worst part is, it would've been SO EASY to use the materia system, while still keeping characters more individual. Like, say that Cloud has a 25% bonus while using one type of materia, but -25% when using another. Or hell, make it so that certain weapons had the same effect. That way, there'd be more strategy, not just picking the characters you thought looked coolest to fight with. You'd have to take into account that this sword of Cloud's might have really strong attack, but be poor at using materia, that kinda thing.

The One and Only Survivor: Pearl Islands Thread
The Metal Maniac replied to fairtoflair7's topic in Television & Film
Question: Are the ones already voted off the show allowed to watch what happens to the others? I'm assuming that they're kept updated on what happens (on account of they do have to do the final vote) but does that mean that they'll know that Jon lied about his grandma? If so, he's so fucked. He can't possibly win. -
Yeah, for $15, Final Fantasy VII is worth it. I was dissapointed with the end of the game. I found the last battle really fucking easy (as in, no effort, I just won) and that was kind of a letdown. Of course, I spent ten+ hours just levelling up so I could beat both Weapons, but whatever.

So I've been seeing these ads for like, a Smokey Mountain burger or something like that... I guess it's cheese, bacon + some sauce on either a burger or chicken. Anyone had it? From what I can tell, the chicken is the spicy chicken, which makes me want it with an unbridled passion...but I'm not sure if it is. So, anyone had it? Is it good?

Taking 'Christmas' Out of Holiday Jingles
The Metal Maniac replied to MrRant's topic in Current Events
How can people be offended by "Christmas"? Honestly now. What's offensive about that? And those people who had the Christmas tree removed need their faces punched in. Aw, you don't feel included...TOO FUCKING BAD. Why don't we just cancel all holidays, so that no one ever has to feel left out? That'd be super! -
Thanks for proving my original point, Chaos. Bret Hart - one of the best technical wrestlers ever - drew dick. Technical wrestling skill has nothing to do with drawing.
-
I so can't see that ending well. "The first-ever international metal debates were cut short today, as the Norweigan delegates hauled out axes and began attacking everyone, mincing them into small pieces before starting to devour the shredded bits of bone and flesh. When asked why, their only response was "THAT'S FUCKING METAL~!"
-
Ok. Then explain how Hogan drew so much money. And no, I don't know the figures either, but it was not good.
-
Being talented means DICK in terms of drawing. Do you know much much HBK drew when he was WWF Champ?
-
I'm curious as to why Rock WOULDN'T want to put Cena over. I mean, Rock's never been one to refuse jobs...he's put RHYNO over, for fuck's sake.
-
See, I can easily forgive the presence of glam bands and people like AC/DC, because even if it's debatable as to how "metal" they are, I think it can be assumed that they're still a part of the overall metal community. But Sex Pistols? That's just ludicrious. *retracts previous statements as to the quality of this list, while standing by the point that when you get up into the higher numbers, it improves somewhat*
-
And what have we learned today? Dom't summarize things to a stoner. Explain it in full, otherwise you might lose the poor kid.
-
Yeah, I am...but that's just cuz I'm having trouble articulating what I want to say here. Bottom line, I don't think it's fair to say that the two moves are totally dis-similar, though I'll agree that they're probably not similar enough to warrant having the same name.
-
Ehh, I thought that saying "put in a front facelock" was more convienent then saying "stick your head into their armpit". Same basic thing, just worded oddly. And with both moves, a NLB and an NLS, you would start the move like that. To do any basic vertical suplex (a scoop brainbuster being just a variation) you have to start with your head in their armpit. From there of course, you gotta facelock them and hook them in the crotch or whatever, but still. I'm just saying, it's not as if the moves are totally different. They're both similar in some ways, enough that someone probably saw a NLB and though "gee, that kinda looks like a NLS variation - Let's call it a Northern Lights something".
-
That's not really what I meant though. What I was getting at, in my somewhat poorly-worded post, was that saying "WASP doesn't sound like Diamond Head, so they're not metal" is akin to saying "Iron Maiden doesn't sound like Death, so they're not metal". I just don't think "This band doesn't sound like this band" is a valid argument. If you take it out a step further (like you just did) then I'll buy it, but to simply state it the way you originally did doesn't seem to work.

Want to own the WCW TV Title?
The Metal Maniac replied to Placebo Effect's topic in General Wrestling
Matt Hardy needs to buy the belt, then show up on RAW with it. That'd be GOLD. -
