Great stuff from John Clayton. What a game to watch. Both of those teams just plain hated each other; it's not surprising that the Bengals folded, seeing how classless their leader is. That kind of whiny, mincing shit is exactly why Cincy isn't playing next week. All season long, Lewis did jack shit to stop his team from premature jocularity, as Rich Eisen would say. Not once did Lewis fine his players for talking about how the "torch had been passed" or generally disrespecting their opponents week in and week out. What better way to motivate a team than to act like a bunch of kids? The Bengals just flat out weren't ready for the playoffs. It's sad that Palmer didn't get to play the game and it's going to be quite a challenge for him to be ready for camp next year. But, at the same time, shit happens. That's the NFL for you. Had Roethlisberger been healthy all year, this team wins the division and possibly isn't playing this week.

I have a audio problem, need some help
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to MikeJordan23's topic in Technology
Are you playing them off of your hard drive or off of CD/DVD? It makes a big difference, because if it's off your HD, chances are you're low on memory or your sound card cables are loose/dying. If you're playing them on discs, it could be that Windows switched your drive into PIO mode. If that's the case, there's another set of instructions we have to give you that I don't feel like typing right now. -
After no distinguishable software changes (that I'm aware of), my DVD burner stopped reading DVDs. It reads CDs and CD+-R/RWs fine, but if you insert a DVD into the drive, it reads as a blank CD. I've tried: - Uninstalling and Reinstalling the driver for the drive, both IDE channels, and the IDE controller - Flashing the drive's firmware - Switching the IDE socket from secondary to primary, and the hard drive worked fine on both channels. - Sacrificing two chickens Anyone have any clue as to how to fix this problem? I'd prefer not to have to resort to reformatting and reinstalling, especially when there is no guarantee that this will help whatsoever. The drive is a master and is not slaved to anything else (although, I might try slaving it to the hard drive just for the hell of it). Uh, it's a Rosewill RD-162 Black model. I can't think of any other pertinent information. I'm running WinXP Pro.

Stalin's half-man, half-ape super-warriors

After taking a year of classes about Russia/Stalin/Communism, this surprises me not at all. -
Reading the Pittsburgh PG about these practices under Therrian is funny. Apparently, if the Penguins aren't ready to play against Philly on Friday, they're never going to be ready for anything. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05354/625124.stm

Co-sign. To be honest, I'd rather all teams other than the Steelers simply tied every game.

My DVD/CD-RW drive doesn't like me anymore
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to theintensifier's topic in Technology
They're not that expensive. Newegg.com is your friend. Also, restore CAN help, if it's a driver conflict caused by a program you installed. Otherwise, you're screwed. -

DVD Burner no longer reads DVDs.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to Dr. Tyler; Captain America's topic in Technology
It's definitely the hardware. Plugged it into another computer and it had the same problems. Hopefully, cleaning the lens will help but I doubt it. Looks like I'm gonna be out $40 during the Christmas season -
DVD Burner no longer reads DVDs.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to Dr. Tyler; Captain America's topic in Technology
I tried the system restore, it didn't work. That leads me to believe it's a problem with the hardware itself. I don't think I made any changes, really. I was copying Doom 3 off of my friend and that was the last DVD I could read. I dunno. I think I'm going to pop it into my mom's crappy computer and see if it reads DVDs there, and if not, I guess it's time to buy a new burner. -
Very sad. As a West Wing fan, I'll miss watching his acting. Leo was definitely one of the best characters on the show and he will definitely be missed.

If it's true child molestation, the chances he's actually "reformed" are slim to none. Recidivation rates amongst sex offenders are ridiculously above the average for other criminals.

That last part is key. I don't know that the vets will buy into an authoritarian style of coaching. You're probably right. I liked Edzo mostly because of what he got out of the team in the end of the year in '03, which still was a last place team. He also seems generally likeable, and I'm not sure coaching is at fault for this year's failures. Either way, we'll see because Therrian has been blowing up the AHL. If he can't do anything with it, well, Craig Patrick needs to clean house.

It's unfortunate that it didn't work out for Edzo. Very likeable guy and seemed to get a good bit out of no talent last year.

Got this message when opening a torrent

Either one. It's a problem that happens when your "listen" ports are blocked. Normally, this is a big issue when you use a router but it could be a software firewall too. -
Fair enough! Yeah, it'll work.

Stillers.com rocks.

Did you just add a router? -
If you plug the mini-RCA part of the cable into the mini-RCA plug on your computer and the other half in the red/white components in the back of your TV, it should work. However, what I'd do is just get a good set of speakers and hook your computer up to them. The speakers on a TV aren't that great anyway, and depending on what kind of sound card you have, you could get 5.1 or 7.1 surround on it, which is vastly superior to simply tv speakers.

So I should be studying for finals.....
Dr. Tyler; Captain America replied to NYU's topic in No Holds Barred
I'm going for the elusive 4.0 this semester. I decided that not going to class throughout college and getting a pedestrian GPA has sort of worn down my confidence, and I needed a boost. So, I took the hardest schedule of classes I could muster (pretty damn hard) and gave it a go -- right now, I'm on pace for the 4.0. Finals should be fun, though. I've spent all weekend studying for my first two finals, which included about 400 pages worth of material. The first exam is tomorrow at 12, and I just finished studying for it. Should be an A in the making. -
THANK YOU

What a day for the Steelers. They went from on the verge of elimination one week to practically controlling their own destiny in the next. If they win out, they're practically a lock for the 5 or 6.

The Pittsburgh Steelers' scoreboard watch-fest is looking good so far today. Need KC and SD to lose and, so far, both are getting beat.
