  1. So, ESPN cut to the Braves/Nats game to cover Bergmann's no hitter through seven. BLAM Not one minute afterwards, McCann hits a solo shot. That was pretty damn funny.
  2. Gooden, without a doubt. Straw's nuts sober, I can only imagine what kinda lunatic he'd be high on crank.
  3. Fair enough. It's just frustrating me that every article written on the guy is prefaced by how he used to be a batboy at Shea. That cover illustration's blaring insinuation doesn't help matters any either.
  4. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2851544 Radomski did not push drugs while with the Mets. His employment prior to his steroid distribution is irrelevant.
  5. Fuck you, ESPN. Kirk Radomski has about as much to do with the Mets as Joe Torre.
  6. So, I tuned into the Indians game just in time to see Jack Cust hit a three-run walk-off homer, his sixth home run in 26 at-bats. My goodness. Also, the Reds bullpen lost them another game today. They're becoming really frustrating to watch.
  7. Great win for the Mets today. - Oliver Perez was amazing (8.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 6 K). - Wright stole three bases, a personal best. - Carlos Gomez had an impressive debut, getting two hits and two scoring two runs while playing a terrific right field. - Damion Easley seems to improve every time he puts on a Met uniform, playing a solid second base today and going 3 for 4 with 4 RBI and a home run. The Mets' big eighth inning in particular was a blast to watch, especially since it was capped off with Beltran's home run that struck the foul pole before it could fall out of play.
  8. http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/news/press_rel...sp&c_id=nym Didn't have to wait long on that decision. Pelfrey's gone and in his place is outfield prospect Carlos Gomez, which is a pretty surprising callup not only since you'd think they'd just bring a different pitcher up but because Gomez only has 140 AB at the AAA level. Still, he wasn't doing bad at New Orleans by any means (.286/.363/.414) and it'll be cool to see him with the Mets even if he's just sitting in the dugout the whole time. Strike that. He's starting in right field today. Jeez.
  9. Yeesh. I'm glad I was at work and wasn't able to watch the game today. Pelfrey pretty clearly isn't ready to pitch at the major league level, and now the question becomes whether Randolph sticks with the guy or pulls someone off of the minor league scrap heap (maybe Brian Lawerence) to take his place. In any case, tomorrow's game could be really really good if the right Oliver Perez shows up. I don't get a lot of chances to watch baseball other than Mets games, so I'm glad I get to watch the Brewers in action and see just what the team's like.
  10. Tee hee. http://www.wsoctv.com/mlb033/13222064/detail.html After watching Jorge Sosa give up two completely crushed home runs tonight, I'm somewhat concerned that he's going to slowly but surely regress into the batting practice throwing machine who gives up a homer every three innings or so. Still, overall, a very good start, and it's nice to see that the Mets probably won't have thirteen different starters this year. If Pelfrey's going to get his shit together, tonight's game would be a good time to start, since Sosa might very well be there to take his spot once Hernandez returns.
  11. Once Upon a Honeymoon and Speech: Platform Posture and Appearance for me. The bit with the prim and proper woman in the latter short always has me dying with laughter. Days of Our Years gets an honorable mention as well, if only for "I'm watching you feel good."
  12. As far as shorts go, no, it's not one of the best, but it's worth a few chuckles. "No springs? I don't care! There's still butter, and meatloaf!" -------------------------------------------------- "The name's Coily! Coily The Spring Sprite, they call me!" "Coily? Eww." "I heard your wish, and well, you're gonna get it!" "In hell!" -------------------------------------------------- "Where does Coily fit into God's plan for us?"
  13. YOU'LL BE THE FIRST TO DIE!
  14. The umpires in the Mets/Giants came just made a terrible call, saying that a Bengie Molina flyball that hit the top of the wall and bounced back onto the field was a home run. Really embarassing. Edit: And now a Barry Zito single followed by two straight errors leads to a three-run Rich Aurilia homer. Lovely.
  15. Don't get too excited, jimmies is just some kinda weird slang for sprinkles.
  16. Miracle of miracles, Jorge Sosa turned in a really good start (6.1 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 2 R, 3 K) for the Mets tonight! I'm not gonna get too excited yet, but considering how well he's done in AAA this year, I wouldn't be surprised if he's actually somehow been turned into a good pitcher.
  17. Well, Damion Easley may be pretty mediocre the rest of the time, but hot damn is he good in the ninth inning. A three-run shot puts the Mets up 6-4. Edit: And David Wright closes the book on 'em with another three-run shot to make it 9-4.
  18. A graphic on the Diamondbacks broadcast of the New York/Arizona game depicted the name of the Mets' speedy utility outfielder as "Edney Chavez". Not quite ESPN MNF levels, but still, pretty embarassing.
  19. Mike Stanton was put in with two outs in the bottom of the eighth in the Reds/Astros game and immediately ended the inning by picking off Henter Pence at first before even throwing a single pitch. Never seen that before.
  20. HOLY GOD what an amazing throw from Victorino. My goodness.
  21. Hahaha. Not exactly what I meant, but yeah, that's pretty funny.
  22. A little off topic, but the SNY broadcasters noticed that CitiField is being worked on today during the Mets/Marlins afternoon game. It got me to thinking that if any of next year's spate of baseball video games show CitiField being constructed in the background of Mets home day games, I'd probably buy it merely out of principle.
  23. Looks like Lima Time would have been preferable. 7-0 Florida in the top of the fourth, two runs coming in this inning from two solo shots and five coming in the third. To be fair, though, all five runs in the third should have been unearned as Easley dropped a soft liner that would have ended the inning but instead scored two runs and led to three more.
  24. Anybody else watching a game with MLB.tv and having sound sync problems? Refereshing the feed usually works, but it's not doing the trick this time.
