  1. If there was an Anime Character Hall of Fame, Lupin would be the first guy I nominate.

    TWIB #5: 1 May - 7 May

Mets win with an amazing stroke of luck as the Nationals reliever throws away a double play ball that would have brought the game to extra innings. What was most encouraging about this contest is Zambrano's performance; 6 IP, 1 R, 5 H, 2 BB, 4 K. That's a hell of a lot better than his previous three starts.

Thank you, Jose Reyes, for getting only the third Mets hit of the night and then throwing away your much needed baserunning presence by getting caught in a rundown while trying to stretch it into a triple.
  4. His real name.
  5. Yes, because Intellivision controllers had accelerometers.
  6. I agree that Metropolis' ending was kinda silly, but I felt that the climax itself was very well done. I just love the entire scene with "I Can't Stop Loving You" playing in the background. The scene in Spirited Away that always has me rolling my eyes is when Chihiro figures out Haku's identity. That moment was just so over the top that I burst out laughing the first time I saw it. Pretty much all of Miyazaki's films have a moment like that, though, and I enjoy them all througoughly regardless of it.
  7. As far as anime movies go, I've gotta recommend Metropolis. Beautiful film with a moving story and a terrific soundtrack to boot. Has anyone else watched the Disgaea anime yet? I've seen the first two episodes and it's really good, even if they are mangling the plot of the game a little more with each entry. I'd definitely say that anyone who enjoyed the game should track it down and give it a try.
  8. I really, really wish Matsui wouldn't bat number two when Lo Duca has a day off. Him and Reyes are just a black hole of OBP. Also, playing Endy Chavez when Victor Diaz is right there doesn't make any sense to me either.
  9. I'm keeping track of the Mets game via Gameday at work, so I need a human being to confirm this for me. Did Endy fucking Chavez just hit a home run?
  10. Yeah, it's waaaaaay too early for this. They're basically begging people to stuff the ballot boxes.
  11. Well, having not seen the film, I can't really say for sure. I believe all you would need is to be familiar with the characters of Naruto, Sakura, Shikamaru, and Gaara, since they're the main players in the film.
  12. The second Naruto movie has been fansubbed. This thread is full of downloading links. http://mangahelpers.com/forum/index.php?topic=3500
  13. Glavine turns in a masterful performance and the bullpen backs him up incredibly well. Mets win 1-0. Big victory, as the Mets haven't taken a series in Atlanta in God knows how long.
  14. I'm not the only one who just saw Red Skull sitting about four rows up in the Mets game, am I?
  15. Let's just go all the way and change it to the Nintendo Kawaii. It is pretty cute, after all.
  16. You say that like it would be a bad thing.
  17. And the Jets take ILB Anthony Schlegel with the 76th pick. Kinda surprised to see two Buckeyes go to them in this draft. Good pick though, I really like where the Jets' focus has been thus far.
  18. It could be because vast amounts of the album were destroyed by spurned fangirls. Also, the sheer irony factor of owning it probably drives the cost up a few bucks.
  19. You just realized this now? Most of her fans also consider Kelly Clarkston to be a really good rock artist. I miss No Doubt.
  20. The Jets got the 76th and the 220th in exchange for the 71st.
  21. Another (paraphrased) gem from that broadcast... "Paul Lo Duca is a MVP caliber player."
  22. And now the Packers trade for #37. Huh. I'm really pleased with the way the Jets have handled this draft so far.
  23. From what I heard, Iriki was on the 40-Man Roster, so that's why his case fell under MLB's jurisdiction.
  24. Second home run of the night for Wright! 5-2 Mets in the top of the 9th.
  25. The crowd at Turner Field shows some class by giving Franco a nice ovation as he comes to bat. It's a much better situation than, say, ridiculously bitter Astro fans booing Beltran at every given opportunity.
