  1. The Mets' bullpen turns in a strong performance, helping Pedro get his 200th win. Good game.
  2. I've gotta disagree with you. Valentin's been getting steadily worse over the past few years. In his 147 ABs last year, Valentin hit with a line of .170/.320/.265 whereas Woodward used his 173 ABs to hit .283/.337/.393. In his prime, Valentin was a considerably better hitter than Woodward (who's not great, but passable), sure, but he hasn't shown any of that hitting prowess in about three or four years.
  3. I'm enjoying this game thus far, but why the hell does Randolph keep sticking Jose Valentin into the game whenever a spot opens up? Both Diaz and Woodward would be ridiculously better choices to replace Floyd.
  4. I suppose, but even Rey Ordonez could usually manage a .250ish BA while he was with the Mets. Hernandez can play his position with the best of 'em, but I really doubt that the runs he saves make up for the amount lost by his hitting.
  5. Well, the sooner he's back, the better. I dislike Matsui as much as the next Mets fan, but at the very least he's a significantly better hitter than Anderson Hernandez. I'm still hoping that Keppinger gets a shot at some point, but the chances of that happening are probably ridiculously slim.
  6. Really? That's incredible. I know it's a hitter's park and all, but damn.
  7. God damn, how good is Albert Pujols? Three home runs today, the last of which won the game for the Cardinals. Simply amazing.
  8. Thank God for Duaner Sanchez. He's been incredible as middle relief so far this year.
  9. I guess I'm just being too subtle today. Also, I'm changing my tune as we speak.
  10. Yeah, both that and Diaz's error were pretty embarassing, but it's not that big a deal. I might be changing my tune should Heilman turn in another underwhelming performance, though.
  11. Ten strikeouts through five and a third for Glavine. Admittedly, the ump's being real generous with the corners, but still, pretty damn impressive. 4-1 Mets.
  12. As if the Pirates didn't suck enough, now Sean Casey has a back injury. He had to be helped off the field.
  13. I knew that was coming, but I still laughed pretty hard.
  14. Damn, Beltran just hit one even further than he did two days ago, nearly reaching RFK's right field seats. 1-0 Mets. Edit: Not a minute later, David Wright wallops a 2-run homer to left field, only for Cliff Floyd to follow THAT up with a massive shot to right center. This is great. 4-0 Mets.
  15. Wagner has his best outing thus far and gets the save for the Mets. His fastball was hitting 99 MPH...maybe his injured middle finger isn't bothering him as much as I feared.
  16. MASN Announcer: "Well, we didn't want Pedro to be beaned. That's a little extreme!" If that's the case, then maybe you shouldn't have shown that moron's crudely made sign, in which the words "Bean Pedro" are spelled out in a barely-intelligible scrawl. Idiots.
  17. Mets get out of a bases loaded, no-out jam to maintain their 2-1 lead in the top of the seventh. Pedro looks a LOT better than he did in his first start, thankfully.
  18. The frost titan was more annoying and time consuming than anything else. Once you got the trick down to damaging him, he wasn't that difficult.
  19. Beltran belts one out of RFK, his first homer from the left side. Mets up 7-1 in the top of the 9th. I'm really really pleased with the way Brian Bannister has been pitching so far. I had expected him to immediately fold under the pressure of playing in the big leagues, but after two quality starts, I can safely say that that hasn't happened. It looks as though he'll be a more-than-acceptable fifth starter for the Mets this year.
  20. Hahaha, thanks Bored. That made my day.
  21. And the next shot, with both of them eating vanilla? Brilliant. So many things to love about this film. Excellent performances all around, particularly from William H. Macy, who continues to remind everyone why he's one of the best actors working today. Rob Lowe's part was great as well. I just lost it when they cut to him standing in the moonlight wearing a kimono ("When do you sleep?" "Sunday."). My favorite part, however, had to be Nick outing his affair with Heather on national TV, as she stood dumbfounded in her office, surrounded by her shocked colleagues.

Haha, wow. Couldn't of scripted it any better.

    MLB: Week 1 (4/2-4/9)

Not that the batter should have even feigned a swing at that pitch, but man that was a bad call.

Scratch that, Vidro finally hit a definitive home run. 12-7 Nationals. Man, what's been going on with the Astros' pitching lately?
