From PWInsider: "WWE developmental talent Ken Doane debuted his gimmick over the weekend at the Raw house shows in Florida, as the leader of The Spirit Squad, a group of male cheerleaders. Doane, who is only 19 or 20 years old, is a really good worker and has been one of the focal points of Ohio Valley Wrestling over the last year. Florida indy worker Lex Lovett worked in Doane's corner at the house shows, although I don't know if he's been signed to a deal." If this is a gimmick from OVW, could you guys please explain this to me? I know it would more than likely be better if I didn't know, but still. It sounds like it could be something along the lines of the cheerleaders skit from SNL meets WWE "creative".

To me, WWE is like one huge mix bag of all different types of stuff. That's not really a good thing to me, I'm just saying. Every now and then we have an entertaining match, if not also great in terms of work. Then a lot of the stuff is just ripe for mocking. You have the stuff that offends or is just tasteless, which is either good or bad depending on who you are. Every now and then (well, almost weekly here lately) we see something that's just so totally out there, that you can't believe you are actually seeing it. Seeing Vader/Goldust team up out of nowhere was retarded, but I'm glad I am still watching WWE because I would not have wanted to have missed that segment. I've been watching wrestling since the 80's, pretty much all my life. As long as I can remember they've produced trash in one form or another, at times more extreme than others, but it's just something that comes with watching WWE, since Vince Jr. at least it's always been that way, and it always will be. It's not like some of this shit is new or anything. Besides, if I made it through Bastion Booger and that era of really shitty gimmicks and workers, then I think I can make it through anything just so I can see the entertaining moments, and great matches along the way.

That's a great idea, however... From The Wrestling Observer: http://www.wrestlingobserver.com/wo/news/h...t.asp?aID=15043

So the next live RAW is going to be the Tim White tribute show?

If any of you add me, let me know so I can add you also.

I would for one. I may not like the stuff they have been doing since they got older, but they actually meant something to the business back in the day. I doubt there is too much footage of them when they were a lot younger, but they have so many stories to tell, it would be a great watch as long as they focused more on the past. Some of the more recent stuff could be in the extras section and maybe easter eggs. As for why we need another Hulk Hogan DVD, it's pretty obvious. The last one, while the main feature was pretty good, the actual matches included didn't even hardly touch on all of the important matches in his career. A new main feature would be great as well. As stated before, the other Hogan DVD was when WWE was really just starting doing these DVDs, and now that they seem to be going full steam ahead with the DVD projects, Hogan deserves one on part with the Flair and Hart DVD. Not to mention that the current Hogan DVD is OOP.

Take it easy man.

That doesn't mean that they have been exposed enough so that the casual viewer cares about them. Most people that I know who watch the show, and are new TNA viewers, always tell me that they love the X division style since it's work that they have almost never seen anywhere else, and they say they like seeing a lot of the big names, even if it's someone as minor as Jeff Hardy, just as long as they had see them somewhere else before. They really need to work on the characters and storylines, big time.
-
It hardly even makes sense to me. The angle seems to be, to me, the long time TNA members vs. all of these new guys from WWE/etc..., but the apparent "invaders" are the faces, and the actual TNA vets are the heels. With that setup, why in the world would fans who just started watching three months ago care at all about the heels in this feud? A feud like this is fine, but a little more time should have been given to getting the fans used to the normal TNA guys. They could have at least done a bit more in those three months to really get that heel team over with the new viewers.

From a casual TNA viewer, and someone who only really started watching when Impact hit Spike TV, here is a quick thought: The ending of the show just now really said a lot to me. On one side we have Sting, the Dudley Boyz, Christian, and Rhino, all of which are pretty famous guys. Sting is considered by many, especially former WCW viewers, as one of the all time greats. The Dudley Boyz are considered by most as one of the all time greatest tag teams of at least the past decade. Then Christian and Rhino are looked at as two guys who have hit the big time and are breakout stars of the near future. Over on the other side we have Jeff Jarrett, Team Canada, AMW, Abyss, and Monty Brown. There aren't too many people out there who are terribly fond of JJ, although there are fans of his out there, I'm guilty of that to an extent. Most, if not all, casual viewers have no clue who TC is. The same could be said about AMW. Heck, the same can be said about Monty, and I'm not so sure that fans are taking to Monty as much as TNA would like them to. I personally don't see the big deal with the guy. Then Abyss, while not known, most seem to really enjoy him. To a brand new TNA viewer, I can see how this feud wouldn't really interest them all that much or seem too important. It's not just the name value thing either. A lot of it has to do with character development, and we simply haven't see a lot of that. -They have about 45 minutes of TV a week after commercials. -This company is, stupidly, trying to promote a PPV every single month using only around 180 minutes of TV. -The guys on the roster have a lot to offer, but almost no time to promote for a PPV, many are left off and not really given a chance to shine. -Even those who are given time, while we may see them in matches week after week, there isn't enough time for promos, video packages, and overall character development. -I don't see why too many people should care about too many of the feuds that we even see, considering that there isn't much build to a lot of the matches. There's no question that they need at least two hours of TV a week, and even that isn't enough for a PPV every single month in my opinion.

Yes. Yes he is.

Well there you have it, The Rock has officially been on TNA Impact.
-
How about Juvi vs. Rey - If Rey loses he takes off the mask, and if Juvi loses he has to put his mask back on?

I saw this tonight, and I must say, it has helped me appreciate the LotR films and Peter Jackson himself, a hell of a lot more. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the LotR trilogy, but this film proved much more about Jackson, and it is truly set in stone that he'll be around for many years, producing fantastic films, he is among the ranks of the all time greats, and that he is most defiantly not any sort of flash in the pan. Here are a few random thoughts about King Kong: -It is quite possibly the greatest remake of all time. -It is a mix of just about every film aspect. You have action, adventure, comedy, romance, horror, and much more all rolled into one. I could see this being a date movie. I could see it being a flick that a group of friends go to check out together. I see the older crowd enjoying it just as much as the younger people. The kids are going to eat it up. I can't remember the last time a film, especially one of this quality, appealed to so many different people. -I have heard people complaining about the first hour or so, but I really enjoyed that part as well, as it was a great build to the action. I loved the representation of the Depression-era. The visuals from this part of the film were every bit as well done as the Island. -I loved action scenes, and the CGI was fantastic. It really shows, once more, just how far we have come since Jurassic Park. I viewed Skull Island as a living breathing location, not to mention beautiful. Peter Jackson really brought the island to life. -The relationship between Ann and Kong in this film, is much more defined and heartfelt, which makes for an even greater sense of love, understanding, as well as misunderstanding. -All involved gave brilliant performances, and yes, even Jack Black. I could easily see him following Jim Carrey in terms of better, and more serious, roles. -For a three hour movie, the time just flew by. If anything, it felt too short to me. It's just one of those movies that I was holding on to, not wanting it to end at all. -It was the most breathtaking cinematic experience for me since the web-slinging scenes in Spider-Man. -Kong himself was just as human, if not even more so, as the rest of the cast. Andy Serkis did a fantastic job of bringing Kong to life, making him out to be more of an actual character, almost human, with actual emotions instead of just a CGI creation. -We all know the main story itself, and what can I say about that? It's timeless - it is just as emotional today as it was in 1933. -This is one of those films I'll go to see once again, just because I don't feel like I was able to take it all in in a single viewing. -To me, this is the best picture of the year so far that I've seen (I haven't seen many of the Oscar contenders yet though). Like Ebert himself said, it is truly one of the great modern epics. I don't see why anyone would refuse to see this one. Do you enjoy action and adventure? How about thrilling horror? A timeless romance tale? Heck, do you just love to see movies with great special effects where a bunch of stuff is destroyed? No matter what your taste in film, there is something for the film lover in everyone. 10/10

2 new people expected to debut at TNA tapings tonight
Downhome replied to Dangerous A's topic in TNA Wrestling
Considering his ties with WWE, how long he was in the company, and all of the important events he has been a part of, I think it's fair to say it's a huge signing. -

I just read this over at PWInsider, about another guy making his debut, and it's pretty huge if you ask me: -
That would be me.

If any of you care, here is the IGN review for the PSP version Smackdown vs. RAW 2006. It looks like a great port, with a few things taken away and a few things added. It's a damn shame that online play wasnt added, because I'd pick it up for sure even though I have the PS2 version, had they included it. I hear the load times are insane though, some of the worst so far. Really quick, here is a quote about the load times from someone over at Gaming-Age: http://psp.ign.com/articles/675/675055p1.html

VPW2, it's not even close to me. Not only are a ton of wrestlers in it, with plenty of awesome moves and fantastic gameplay, but it also has a shoot mode which is just outstanding.

No use to even the odds when Cena can overcome them on his own!
-
If only this was a Cena/Daivari & Hassan feud. Cena would like like their hostage right now, and it'd be all in the press, OMG!
-
Don't you guys love how Cena overcomes the odds week after week?
