Well, WWE totally swerved me tonight. I thought for sure Matt would cause Edge to job to Kane yet again.
-
Well who really gives a damn about the actual match taking place?
-
The fantastic Martha Vickers, seen in my sig co-staring in The Big Sleep from 1946.
-
Hardy got away! As fast as fast can be, they'll never catch Hardy!
-
I'm going to laugh my ass off if a heel Jericho beats the face Cena for the title, leading to a returning face HHH defeating Jericho for it.
-
Well, the Con Man made RAW!

I love Edge as a member of a tag team, he's fine in that role. He just hasn't really changed anything about himself as a singles wrestler, and it makes his singles matches, for the most part, come off very shitty in my eyes. Most, I said most not all, of his good matches have either been tag matches or singles matches with some sort of gimmick. That is what is holding him back from going all the way, in my eyes.

Come on now...it's Rosey. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wouldn't care if it was Spike Dudley. They shouldn't do that to their champions when there are plenty of people to feed to this douche.

Fucking hell in a basket. Way to take a dump on your tag team champion WWE.
-
Martel should come out every week to take on Masters also.
-
Darsow is dead? When did that happen?????
-
Oh my God, I knew that instead of having a posedown like HHH/Steiner for this feud, we'd get a band showdown for Jericho/Cena. Wow. I was just joking when I said I bet they'd do that.
-
"If it ain't white, it ain't right." Wow, what a cathphrase.
-
Kerwin White! Yes!!!!!
-
Holy shit that was pointless. At least last year's version of that "contest" was somewhat shocking...but still just as lame.
-
This is without a doubt the most boring segment in RAW history so far.
-
"BORRRRRRRRRRRING, BORRRRRRRRRRRRRING!"

This should be good, I'm loving this guy.

Edge's "rise to the top": Kane, Hardy, Lita, etc..
Downhome replied to Downhome's topic in The WWE Folder
Well, tonight we have Edge/Kane in a cage on RAW. It's a safe bet that Matt Hardy will join the party at some point in the match, I think everyone can agree on that. I think we'll either see some sort of no-contest, or Hardy will attack Edge leading to Kane picking up yet another win. At some point, this has got to turn around for Edge... -

Well you can't really blame the "marks" for that, since WWE presents the women as nothing more than TnA anyway. -
Is Mike Striker officially a WWE contracted wrestler? They have a long Q&A with him on WWE.com, which seems to be pushing his situation pretty hard.

The same way Jericho lost that HHH/Steph feud. While Jericho was still a part of it, the other two moved on past it, and Jericho never really did, it hurt him while it helped progress HHH and Steph. The same thing applies here. While the feud was not really about Edge, as I said he was just a pawn in the overall Kane/Lita feud, all of this has helped build up and push Kane and Lita, while it has only hurt Edge's credibility. At the MOST, Edge is back at where he was at the start of this year...and at the worst... I think it's a for sure bet that we'll get a Kane/Hardy vs. Snitsky/Edge match, seeing how WWE seems to enjoy doing shit like that for no reason when it isn't needed. If it was up to me, they would keep building up Hardy as a guy who is not a WWE contracted wrestler, like WCW did with the nWo. Have Hardy get a few cheap shots in via run-ins and backstage attacks, some worse than others, but for the love of God don't let them meet in an actual match until SummerSlam!!!!! It isn't just Lita who is the kiss of death. Any time that they present a feud as wrestler/diva/valet with the other wrestler as a pawn instead of wrestler/wrestler, it almost never ends well for the guy left on the outside. I can't stand feuds like this, it drives me crazy. I hate when the woman is the mastermind behind the man, it takes away from the overall angle. Now the Hogan/Savage/Elizabeth and Flair/Savage Elizabeth fueds, those were ways to really have the woman be a part of a feud. She was the centerpiece to the entire thing, but the feud wasn't about her. It was about the two wrestlers hatred for one another. Something like that would have worked fine for Kane/Edge, and it could have helped both guys reach a different level. "Could have". -
This is something of a continuation of the following thread, where Edge's rise to the top, his feud involving Kane and Lita, and all of that, was just barely touched on: http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?showtopic=71582 As I said in that thread, to me, Edge has been nothing more than a pawn in a feud, not an actual player. We've been watching a Kane/Lita feud, not a Kane/Edge feud. From the very start of this thing, it's always been all about Kane/Lita, with Edge simply being the guy that Lita left Kane for. It could have been anyone else, and only ended up being Edge because of the stuff that was going on behind the scenes. Like I said, I'd compare the Kane/Lita/Edge deal to that of HHH/Steph/Jericho, and I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. They had Kane beat Edge on a PPV, cleanly mind you, and now at this past RAW when Edge/Kane was taking place one again, it ended after Kane took off after Snitsky (which I assume means they will now be in a program together), and Hardy attacked Edge, speaking out against him, Lita, and WWE as a whole. So from the look of things, this entire Edge/Kane deal is pretty much over, with Kane more than likely moving on and the same for Edge. Is it now safe to say that Edge lost that feud, a feud that he needed to win in my eyes if he was to continue his rise to the top? Edge has gone from the guy that everyone thought was going to challenge Cena for the world title at the second biggest PPV of the year, and possibly winning, to now more than likely fighting Hardy in a grudge match of sorts. I'm perfectly fine with this, but once again Edge has been cut short. Though I admit, it's for good reason this time. What we have for SummerSlam now is this: Kane vs. Snitsky Edge vs. Hardy Cena vs. Jericho (for the WWE Title) To even go an extra step in all of this, I wouldn't be surprised for the Edge/Hardy match to be saddled with a few stipulations. Perhaps something where if Edge wins Hardy is banned from WWE for life, and if Hardy wins...he gets Edge's contract for a WWE title shot. Sure, the match doesn't need all of that, it's hot enough just being a straight up grudge match, but we all know how WWE is, and it's not beyond the realm of possibility for Hardy to take that contract from Edge in this upcoming match. If Hardy does take that contract, or heck, if Hardy just flat out beats Edge and that's all, then where can Edge go? He has went from being on the verge of reaching the very top (with me ALMOST being on the verge of liking the guy), and being very hot in wrestling, to now being on the verge of being right back where he was at the start of his push. Again, like I said in the other thread: That said, and I hate to even say this, I do think he'll win a major title one day, more than likely within a year. I just don't see it happening right now, or anytime soon. I still don't see the guy as a major champion, but I respect the fact that many people do. I just can't help but wonder just what in the world WWE is waiting for with this guy. One second it looks like they want to push him to the moon, then the next they take away all they have given him, for whatever reason. I'm more than excited about an Edge/Hardy feud, a lot more than more than Edge/Kane/Lita and Edge/Cena feuds, so as of right now, I'm pleased. Besides, I'm always up for seeing Edge get his ass kicked, especially by Hardy.

I wasn't here to read all of the thoughts about this in the RAW thread, so I'll post it here. Was it just me, or has Matt gotten quite a bit larger since the last time he was in WWE? I haven't seen him since then, and I know it hasn't been that long ago, but still. The guy looked like he's been doing nothing but training and working out, getting ready to make a HUGE comeback. Just like I thought all those years ago, and especially now, I could see him being a major player in WWE. I never thought Jeff would be the breakout star like most people did to start with.

I still wish that WCW went through with the gimmick of Tank Sinatra.
