I had a feeling that was the case. Now the big question is that we seem to know how this committee has felt towards Jarrett - for the most part, its been pretty negative towards him. Is this more of a positive fact or negative fact that it was the booking team's call? Meaning is there more or less of a chance that this is just a very short term reign to put over either Raven or Brown at BFG?

Great, they decided to make the DVD cover as Homoerotic as possible didn't they? Would anyone else feel a bit uncomfortable bringing this to the video counter to buy? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I dont see the big deal at all. Whats so homoerotic about it?

On the bright side, I'm glad AMW FINALLY turned heel, but being aligned with Jarrett is pointless and predictable. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think a Jarrett/AMW pairing is actually somewhat interesting. They can play up a southern redneck type group to draw heat. I wouldnt add anyone else to this group too, although I expect them to.
-
I think that Jarrett seriously wont be champ after BFG and this was just done as a hotshot move to draw interest into the Spike debut (I'm sure this match will air on the show or at least the last few minutes) and draw heat to a Raven-Jarrett rematch at the ppv. From that standpoint, I will outright even admit I dont think this was a bad idea really. It potentially draws heat for the (I would assume) upcoming Raven-Jarrett rematch at BFG. And Jarrett can be happy since he gets a short transitional reign and another win over Raven, making the job he will hopefully do at BFG just that more meaningful. Otherwise, I think there is a long term plan to put the belt on Brown, but I think that is still a process that will probably happen around the end of the year or beginning of next. Monte is still heeling it up, and needs to be properly turned from that, and then built in a meaningful feud with the champ. Ideally, what needs to happen here is Raven over Jarrett at BFG. Jarrett and AMW then do the heel group stuff against possibly all three Dudleys in the aftermath or the Duds and whoever else, and Raven slowly goes back heel in due time. Raven and Brown then begin a feud that leads to Brown winning the title. If Raven doesnt get the belt back now, or even worse, if he has to job out AGAIN to Jarrett for a third time, that is a surefire way to affect his character. Where would he go from here if they dont follow up with this and give him the belt back? He was pretty darn over as champ if you ask me. If this is just transition to go to Brown v. Jarrett at BFG, I guess I really can't bitch too much either although again it goes back to the fact that TNA really ass-fucked Raven in the process.

I'm sure I'll be going - it will be a 6-8 hour drive from MN here but it will be worth it, as ROH will probably have a Fri or Sat nite show too, plus perhaps a chance to check out a few Cubs games at Wrigley. Tickets will definately go fast, but hopefully not a ton of people will know about the presale code, although I expect them to as way back in April and May, WWE was already passing out postcards at live events that people could send in to recieve their pre-sale code at a later date. Went to Mania XIX and got comp tickets through WWE, so I couldnt complain there. Had to go through Ebay for Mania 21 tickets - pretty much got them at face value.

That match is on there - its the coal miners match from Havoc 92. ---- This DVD is supposed to be a 3 disc set I believe, so there has to be more than this, one would think. I heard one disc was a full documentary and the other two is nothing but matches and highlights. Maybe not though. Can't tell if the cover shot says 2 disc or 3 disc... If this is really all they are putting on here, thats too bad as I was excited about this before, but now kind of "eh" about it. I'll still pick it up though. If they are just not including Savage material very much just because of the heat between Savage and Vince, that is just plain childish. Wasnt some certain Savage material eliminated from the 80s Superstars DVD too?

This fuckin has to be Raven/Jarrett at BFG with a loser leaves TNA stip and for the title, and Raven goes over. Otherwise this is absolutely absurd. Period.

Thats how it was done before back in the 80s/early 90s with SNME. They gave SNL a break once in awhile for the SNME show - usually when there were off weeks such as a Thanksgiving weekend, etc. As far as the topic at hand, I like the idea of a Best of show, but ONLY the day after the ppvs. Otherwise, until they are established, Impact should be airing the Sat rebroadcast on Mondays to try to get more people interested in the current product and main angles/storylines as much as possible. The current timeslot for the Monday show is a hard pill to swallow in terms of producing another hour of first run content because its rather late. If they would jump the show down a few hours earlier on Mondays, then I would suggest to them to definately tape another hour of new content for Mondays exclusively. I do think they still should really up their syndicated network and have Xplosion be all new content though, and they should do that ASAP. TNA should have at least 2 hours of all first run content, be it in whatever place, channel, time, etc. At this point, I think a second hour of first run content would be better in a large sydicated network of channels than a really late timeslot during a weekday like the Monday night one is currently.

I know Rey and Luther Reigns were two of them for sure.

Joe/Daniels & Liger/Styles would be fucking fantastic.

Just thought I would pop these on the board as I havent seen many of these items reported anywhere else yet. -Confirmation that the Spike deal is 52 weeks, not the 13 weeks as has been rumored by others. -Nash is coming back by the time the show starts, as he's been a main person they have been pushing to cable outlets, etc for the BFG ppv. No word on what his role will be on the ppv though. -They are attempting to get Bret and Sting as well for their first show. Neither have committed and Sting might be a long shot considering how many times he's turned down TNA to be a part of their company in a substantial role. They even promised him a world title run if he would have showed up in the role Randy Savage ended up taking late last year. -Waltman is only booked up until the 9/11 PPV until he signs a contract -Strong push to get Liger in for the BFG ppv. -Matt Bentley ended up coming to a verbal agreement on money to return to the company. He will be back in a few months, I am assuming to re-team with Kazarian, who would be released from the WWE contract about that same time. -Dudleys wont likely be at BFG since they have an "interational date" booked that day. No word on what or where that is exactly. -Tito Ortiz will be brought in by the Spike debut to tie in with commericals on UFC programming saying he is on TNA, etc. -Johnny Devine is planned to be back in TNA in October. -No interest in signing Kenzo Suzuki contradicting Japan reports he is signing with them.
-
I actually tend to agree with this opinion, but this should only hold water for the first month or so of the show. From that point on, everything should be established and the big names should not be as much of an imporatance overall. Ideally, what I think they should do is have Jarrett be on Impact up until the BFG ppv, where he loses to Raven in a loser leaves TNA match. Then hopefully they really do let him go and Jarrett can go to WWWA or whatever the hell that organization is called. Hell, he can even debut on their 10/29 supposed ppv they are doing.

Nothing but good news that they are getting a chance on some level right away on Mondays. If the rating is respectable (not to mention the regular Sat night one), I could see them making some waves and Spike could most certainly grant TNA 2 hours on Monday against WWE in due time. Even if they never get to that point, given a replay of the show on the "wrestling night" is very cool.

The 52 week confirmation was in this week's Observer. I'm starting to feel like Wade Keller is turning into a guy who maybe isnt checking his sources as much as he should, as not only was his 13 week report untrue, but there is alot out of that whole Hogan-HBK fiasco backstage that also is being contradicted by some reports by Meltzer. But thats a whole other story altogether. Just seems like he (Keller) is turning into more of a gossip columnist or something.

Just playing a 12 team league on fanball.com with fellow friends, ended up getting the 12th (and 13th of course) pick this year, not extremely happy with what I have but oh well QB T. Green QB B. Roethlisberger RB J. Lewis RB J. Bettis RB C. Benson RB M. Williams WR M. Harrison WR N. Burleson WR A. Lelie WR P. Burress WR K. McCardell PK M. Stover PK N. Kaeding Def Bills Def Giants Not sure who's starting week one yet, but I know one thing - my RB situation is completely fucked if you ask me. Bettis is out a few weeks, Lewis is now complaining about some financial BS, and Benson and Williams are going to be a joke.

Yeah I just noticed this a few days ago myself - ABOUT FUCKIN TIME! Now if we would just get Sunday Ticket......grr........ I like the half hour shows scouting each team individually at training camp, etc - heads up to anyone who isnt familiar with the channel - during Sundays they have a Sirius NFL update audio channel on there or something so you can hear whats goin on during the other games, preferably during commercials of the game you're watching. It's pretty much consistent updates on scores and points by certain players immediately so you can keep track of your fantasy score during the day...

Not sure if it's possible or not, but WWE may want to consider doing two TV tapings for SD in Atlanta on Tuesday for the next two weeks, and really do the "big show" they had lined up the week after instead. I say that since I dont think there is anyway they can do justice to 4 promoted matches (2 of which are heavy gimmick matches too) and a significant in ring segment, all in just one hour. Plus there is a significant chance the concert thing might cut into their hour too somewhat. They should just tape a solid hour show with a few notable matches, a promo by whoever, and backstage stuff to air on Friday, more as a vehicle to hard sell next week's show, and then stick to their plan for the "big" 2 hour show the week after in the right time of the night it was supposed to be scheduled originally.

While I agree that Rhodes is a pretty terrible booker, I think in the current WWE climate, he may actually be an improvement. Which is scary. As for Goldust maybe coming back, I'm all for it. You've read the DVD thread. And it's true - Dustin Rhodes is better than HHH. Yes. Yes, he is. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You obviously didnt see Dustin's last TNA run. HHH is head and shoulders better than him at this stage in their respective careers. And this is coming from someone who could give a fuck less about HHH. Bringing Dustin back into WWE would be plain stupid.

Not sure what to think about this. On one hand, Smackdown, other than decent run mid-summer, has not been anything too extremely impressive and Lagana certainly hasn't created a solid booking resume so far. Nothing extremely interesting ever happens on the show, or at best (and this might be more of McMahon influence) but for quite some time now it is clearly a B level show v. a different plateau in overall presentation and more general coherant booking for Raw. So it might be a good move to try someone new as heading creative there. On the other hand, its Dusty Rhodes here and just another example of how the WWE doesnt seem to learn from mistakes - I mean how many chances does Rhodes get in his life to book, and now at this point in his life he gets a WWE booking gig? Huh?!! Rhodes really didn't accomplish anything groundbreaking in TNA, why will it change now? They'd be much better bringing back Heyman or, hell, even an old worker like Jake Roberts or Ted DiBiase running a significant part of the booking would probably be a better idea at this point. The timing of this is certainly, well interesting I guess, considering they are on the verge of the Friday night move. I know a change is in order for Smackdown, but this just doesnt seem like the answer. Wonder if the McMahons will allow Rhodes a little room to play around with the storylines sooner than later. With that said, I expect a JBL title run again here pretty soon, I have a feeling Rhodes is going to be high on him.

When did this happen? I don't track the inside news of MMA but the last time I saw Ortiz was when he basically went into business for himself challenging either Liddell or Couture for the LHW Title. What's changed? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's part of the reason between the bad blood between White and Ortiz, I believe. The main juggernaut has been Ortiz demanding a ridiculous amount of money per apperarance at this point.
-
I dont think anyone is really going on and on about Jarrett's comment about him that much, are they?
-
Meltzer doesnt hardly ever report gossipy stuff like this for a reason, so with that said, I would assume he has a very reliable source (I am 99 percent sure its Konnan) with this.
-
While I think the 3LK should be broken up, I totally dont agree that Killings should be left in the dust. Ideally, I think you do a Konnan heel turn on James and Killings - from there, James goes with Billy Gunn of course, and then Killings and Konnan can feud in singles for a bit. At some point incorporating a guy like Homicide would be GREAT - you could either team him with Konnan or Killings, either way would be fine. A cool idea might be to do a Killings/Homicide v. Konnan/Shocker feud, and then at some point when that feud ends, Homicide turns on Killings. Konnan and Shocker could then focus more on a feud with the James Gang or whatever they will be called. If this report is all true, and I would bet it likely is, I think Jarrett has about an inch of room to continue his stint in TNA for a few more months, and thats it. I really think they might just do the losers leave stip at BFG and he loses and thats his finale with the company. Needless to say, that would be the best possible suggestion for him at this point, perhaps also hotshotting a match with Monte Brown at Unbreakable also, where he puts Brown over (I know, it would make no sense then that Jarrett would get a title shot the next month, but what the hell). If that WWWA deal with ESPN and ppv is valid, I bet he and Jerry will go there in no time, as the company itself can't allow this behavior to go on much longer and the Jarretts are obviously not happy in TNA. He's already been somewhat demoted in a way, and is still shirring up shit politicially. Time to kick him out the door, Carters! He's not worth the time and especially the effort anymore. He's made it perfectly clear he continuously tries to hold down talent who he feels will get over.

Anyone get that "I feel like I'm on acid and nothing makes sense here" feeling when watching the show last night? Between the ridiculous stage set-up, odd acting and LOOKING celebrities (Why the fuck did Hillary Duff end up following the Lohan cracked-out anorexic look?), and goofy segments that really had no right to even be on the VMA - it was just a very odd produced show this year.
-
Ugh, 13 weeks really isnt a real long time to try to get a substantial rating like that, I have to say. We're talking only 3 months, so by years end they could be back at square one? That whole deal sounds much more unattractive now after reading the Torch report.
