One thing to also consider is Smith's rushing numbers and rushing TDs.

I await the day I have all sorts of advisors and coaches pounding on my office door for flunking a star football player.

Looks like we've found our new Hu$tle.

Notre Dame football is an infomercial for a clothing and merchandise line, isn't it? -
Yeah, really. That's fucking insane.....it'd be like me including Hulk Hogan on a list of "Greatest Americans". Every time the media in any country makes one of these lists it ends up having a few "WTF?" listings. For instance, Diana was near the top of the British one (this was easily the most ridiculous choice), many of the mainland European countries had soccer players featured prominently, the Canadian list has Don Cherry on it, etc. I'm sure if someone in the US organized something like this there would be at least one of these, an interesting question is who that person would be. I'm guessing Babe Ruth although there are several possible candidates. It's similar to when Mick Foley won the Time MOTY vote online.

Thomas Edison.

Leinart winning would be horrible, because of all the guys having to share the spotlight with another member of their team, he's the one who is the most inferior to the other player (Reggie Bush), but because he's the QB the media has chosen to ignore Bush and hype him.

Want to know the kind of BCS-whining that really gets on my nerves? Stuff like this: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/writ...rose/index.html Now, he makes some decent points about the Coaches poll being too secretive and so on, but his basic premise is that the BCS system might screw Cal out of playing in the Rose Bowl. Which is hilariously flawed to begin with, because without the BCS system USC would be in the Rose Bowl and Cal would be playing somewhere else anyway. It reminds me of when Colorado's coach was calling the BCS a "cancer" a few years ago even though it was the ONLY ranking that had them ahead of Oregon and hence his claim that Colorado should be in the title game but the BCS was screwing them over was laughable.

Personally I expect the Big 10 to be back with a vengeance next year. Michigan, Iowa, and Ohio State will all be improved.

Man, I'm really hoping that USC gets clipped this week by Touchdown Jesus and so we can settle this stuff once and for all in January.

Benson has definitely moved right back into the mix of Heisman contenders. Right now it might be down to him, White, and Smith. Reasons: 1. USC is throwing their Heisman push behind Leinhart, which is a mistake because Reggie Bush has been their best player this year, and Leinhart's numbers are not as good as White's and Smith's. Bush could be a challenger but if his own school is not supporting his candidacy he's not going to win it. So I don't think either guy will win. 2. White and Smith both have unspectacular games. White was solid but did nothing special, while Smith had a poor game (probably his worst of the season) with a large number of media and fans watching. So neither guy really gained any separation from the other, while Benson had another good game. 3. Peterson's TD numbers are not all that high, plus being a freshman will unfairly hurt him in the voting. Plus White is likely to get the push for OU.

By the way, for people who claim the anti-OU attitude is solely because of Dam, I post on another internet message board completely unrelated to this one, and in the college football thread in the sports folder, all everyone does is bash on OU and Michigan.
-
I'm actually hoping one of USC or Auburn lose so that I can revel in the massive internet-wide whinefest that will accompany such a loss.
-
That's total BS because at least half the time it's fans of the other teams who are starting the discussions about OU.
-
I completely agree. It's no use even trying to discuss any other team but OU on here. I tried my best with the OaO thread to contain him but it couldn't work without it being enforced. Damaramu I think needs a some enforced time off from this folder preferbly through the end of the bowl season. Yeah ban me b/c none of you agree with me. That's fair. Yeah I would stay in the OaO thread if people didn't go into these threads and bait me by bashing on OU. Hey guess what guys? They're going to the Orange Bowl and are probably going to win! And Auburn isn't! You don't have to be the defender of OU, and I think you rarely have cause too. Your persecution complex is ridiculous. No one else on here defends their team with anywhere near the combination of venom and mania that you reach on a daily basis. I think calling to ban anyone is lame because this is a freaking message board, but no one would be banning you because they don't agree with you; they'd be doing it because you're irritating as shit. To be fair, no other team gets randomly attacked as much as the Sooners. So it's a chicken-or-egg question: which came first? Personally, I think it's the OU bashing because it came in full force last season after the BCS standings came out due to this board being largely a PAC-10/Mid-majors circle jerk.

TSN was good years ago but they are really awful now.

So Peyton Mannning needs 14 touchdowns in his final 6 games to set the all-time single season record, and 15 to break 50 for the season. Anyone think he's not going to get there? Because I'm definitely betting he takes it.

So can we tell who the future of the WWE is yet?

Cal would beat OU straight up. If Dama doesn't like it, then he might need to learn to deal with it. -=Mike Even if that were true (its just speculation given that anything can happen) there's no way a one-loss PAc-10 team can be ranked ahead of an undefeated Big-12 team. Frankly, I think Utah should be ahead of Cal at this point. I don't --- simply because I do feel they should look at more than a W-L record. If Texas makes it over Utah, yeah, there's a huge problem. But Cal is really a damned solid team. -=Mike W-L record starts meaning less to me once someone is no longer undefeated, but there's something special about having to play each week without having lost, and in Utah's case knowing that if you do lose your season is practically down the toilet. I don't, however, think that Boise State has any business being ahead of Cal or several other teams. But Utah is just about as good as any team outside of the top 3. I'm hoping that they get to play whichever of the top 3 doesn't end up in the title game.
