Howard Dean: The Next DNC Chief.
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to Dr. Tyler; Captain America's topic in Current Events
Dean is at least the complete opposite of snake-oil salesman Terry McAulliffe, and so I think it's a needed change for the Democrats. -
Favorite TV shows that lasted a season or less
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to Youth N Asia's topic in Television & Film
Undergrads was a lot of fun and it's a shame that the series ended the way it did. The last episode left one looking forward to the next season. The new version of Dragnet had one really good season before ABC shunted it off to Saturdays and basically let it die. Murder One's first season was probably the best single season of TV for any show ever. After originally cancelling it, it was brought back for an abbreviated second season with about half of the cast discarded, then cancelled for good. I also agree with whoever mentioned Fastlane. It was campy, fun stuff that looked cheesy but you could quickly get hooked on once you started watching it. -
American soldier in Iraq given Medal of Honor
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to a topic in Current Events
There's why. Jessica Lynch sells so much better to the people that are home during the day watching stuff like Anderson Cooper 360 and other pseudo-news shows. -
Should the UN move it's headquarters?
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to Vern Gagne's topic in Current Events
New york is a center for the world economy and geopolitics. It makes more sense than any other location other than maybe Switzerland, which makes sense only for its official "neutrality". -
U. Colorado Prof compares 9/11 victims to Nazis
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to a topic in Current Events
Eichmann was either directly or indirectly responsible for the deaths of about 6 million people. To compare anyone to him in particular, let alone the Nazis in general, is tasteless to the extreme. And I'm not even sure this is a "liberal" rant as some have characterized it, given it's filled with shots at the Clinton administration. It's more of a Noam Chomskyish "anti-USA, pro-anarchy" rant. And props to KKK for his "FACTOR-LED BOYCOTT" post. -
The Rock should do a match with The Coach. It's been built up better as a slow-burning feud than most other stuff on RAW right now.

Iron Chef America the Series
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to MarvinisaLunatic's topic in Television & Film
Flay prepares really nice looking food but he's got to stop this "multiple sauces on every dish" thing because it's getting old fast. I think he tried to do too many things the same as the battle with Bayless and that hurt him. Tsai put on a really good show with his dishes. So far I've liked all three episodes. -
Okay, but I still disagree, I think the reason behind it is more due to sociological evidence as opposed to genetic. Not as many Thai people in Canada as Chinese would be the reason why they aren't as successful in terms of school and such. I don't think the fact that they're Thai has anything to do with it. I mean worldwide. The strong centers of math have traditionally been in Europe, North America, Japan, China, India, and the Middle East. And I live in the United States now, not Canada.

I can only comment on my own area of specialization (mathematics), but there is non-trivial (although hardly definitive) evidence that women tend to be stronger in algebra and logic, while men are better at analysis and geometry. There are several arguments one can make both for and against this statement, as well as several explanations as to why it might be true beyond genetics, but it's an interesting observation. One other thing that one notices about mathematics is that very few native americans, blacks, and southeast asians are found in the upper echelons of the subject. On the other hand, it's not just a case of "whites only": arabs, Indians, the Chinese, and the Japanese are all very strong in mathematics.

Frenchies propose international AIDs tax
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to MrRant's topic in Current Events
He's hardly the first person to suggest such a thing. The Nobel Prize economist James Tobin has suggested a worldwide tax on currency speculation, which would help to prevent economic destabilization, and the funds recovered could be used for purposes such as this. -
Star Wars opening 'Best Special Effect'
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to CBright7831's topic in Television & Film
Bullet time should be higher. Even in this CGI-filled age, it was revolutionary and changed the way special effects are viewed. -
I agree totally on Beautiful Mind, and while I don't think Titanic is as bad as most believe, it certainly wasn't the best movie of 1997. L.A. Confidential was so superior to any movie made that year it's not even funny.

Not one mention yet of Jared/Subway? -
I'm pulling for "Tupac: Ressurection" in the documentary category if for no other reason than to hear what Chris Rock will have to say if it wins.

I'd agree except for the fact that those nominated for Worst Director really, really deserve it. And Keanu has got to win the 25 year award, right?

what about women forced into prostitution? Or the famalies of said women? Something tells me those are the kinds of call-girls that Colin Farrell is ordering...

Congrats to the Eagles. I'm just really glad the Vick suck-off is over for this season.

Smith goes one-on-one with Bill O'Reilly *smashes head through TV screen* -
Agreed. I also liked how there was a lot less of the cheating aspect in this episode, and it was centered more around taking suckers for all their money.

See how bad the logic is? Well, if this becomes a big deal, the real hypocrites will reveal themselves to be the people that were for gay marriage, and against this. I don't understand under which basis of logic can one be allowed and not the other. The easy argument against this is that the current marriage laws (regarding divorce, next-of-kin rights, tax deductions, etc) carry over perfectly well to the gay marriage situation. But how do you apply these for polygamy? It would require a total re-write of the laws, plus a bunch of decisions would have to be made (does only your first marriage "count"? or does everything get split up like a pizza?). I personally have no problem with people who want to be polygamists, but I don't think the marriage laws can accomodate them.

Iron Chef America the Series
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to MarvinisaLunatic's topic in Television & Film
It was really enjoyable and both chefs prepared great looking dishes. It feels more natural than the special episodes did, and should make for a consistently good series. -
Stopped paying attention right here.

Let's settle this, once and for all.

I only use it when trash-talking with other fans. Otherwise I try not to do it.
