The latest twist in the Schiavo case.......
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to NoCalMike's topic in Current Events
The point is, they're refusing to consider it. Why would they issue an injunction on a case they have no intention of considering? Then it's truly fascinating how desperate the courts are for Terri to die. Well, the courts overstepping their bounds is the usual fare for them. -=Mike The courts are overstepping their bounds by REFUSING to hear a case? -

The 11 circuit court of appeals upheld the federal judge's ruling and refused to reconnect the feeding tube. No idea what happens next. -

I think it would be great if someone out there stepped up and proposed a treatment for Terri involving embryonic stem cell therapy. Oh man would this thing turn into a circus then. -
The latest twist in the Schiavo case.......

Is it wrong to wish she would just have a heart attack and die a fast, natural death, hopefully make her way to a better place in the afterlife, and put this whole thing to rest for good? -
credit: http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/science/03/21...reut/index.html I'll let y'all make the punchlines for this one. I don't see what these "punchlines" are supposed to be. Frankly, China is such a huge fucking mess, and the government couldn't care less about it, that I'm inclined to fully believe the environmental groups when it comes to anything involving China.

Ten Commandments before Supreme Court

I would say that's a bit of a generalization. Certainly it applies to some groups on both sides, but there are still pro-life radicals who favour shooting abortionists and so on. Likewise, I'm pro-choice but I agree with the partial-birth abortion ban as unnecessary and quite barbaric, and there are others who see it that way as well. -

Approximately half of the general public, you mean? Count me in as one of the ones who doesn't give a damn either way, but instead of starving her can't they do something more humane like smother her with a pillow? It's a really sticky situation. On one hand, dying of starvation is a long process, and may or may not be painful for her depending on who you believe. On the other hand, removing the tube is the only thing that allows for a "natural" death, anything else would move into the realm of assisted suicide at best, murder at worst. -
I watched that first episode of Impact and it reminded me of a poor episode of Nitro circa 1998. Christopher Daniels was really the only bright spot on the show, his match was decent, his promo was pretty good, and he has a good presence. Jarrett's promo was straight out of HHH-land. And that Kash-Batts match was absolutely god-awful. Kash's finisher reminded me of an early Undertake tombstone in that the victim's head wasn't anywhere close to the mat.

Anyone with a qualified level of expertise or knowledge want to explain what that bright spot in the center-right is about, or any other abnormal characteristics of this scan? -

If Russo were still running things, someone would pull out an "Adam Copeland is feces" line on RAW this Monday. -
Er? Care to expand on that? The evidence of "global" environemental problems (global warming, sustainable development, etc.) is debatable at best. On the other hand, only the willfully blind would claim that things such as water pollution, poor air quality (in cities) and so on don't exist. Environmental problems at the local level are very real. At the global level it's much harder to say.

The OAO World Poker Tour Thread
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to DMann2003's topic in Television & Film
Well, Arieh and Negraneau are both guys who like to push things, and especially with Negraneau, it's hard to get a read on him, so sometimes you can get caught calling his bluff to find out he's got the nuts. For my money Danny N. is the best all-around poker player in the world right now. Phil Ivey would probably be #2, with guys like Barry Greenstein, Chip Reese, Howard Lederer, Chau Giang, T.J. Cloutier and Gus Hansen all ranking highly. In terms of pure no limit hold-em players, you have to include Phil Hellmuth Jr., Layne Flack, Eric Seidel, and John Juanda to those already mentioned. -
For me it boils down to being able to recognize the difference between "local" environmentalism and "global" environmentalism.

The OAO World Poker Tour Thread
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to DMann2003's topic in Television & Film
Tonight's show (Borgata) was one of the best televised final tables I've ever seen. The power poker was off the charts tonight. Some of the plays were questionable (particularly Williams in that KK vs Q7 hand), but overall it was fabulous poker and the players had really great instincts in terms of calling or folding. -
Judge Says California Can't Ban Gay Marriage
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to BUTT's topic in Current Events
I thought Clear and Present Danger was about the President waging an illegal war against South American drug lords. I meant Sum of All Fears. I tend to draw blanks involving films with Ben Affleck in them. -=Mike Your point is well-taken Mike, but with respect to this specific example you're a bit off. The plotline for "Sum of All Fears" was changed BEFORE September 11th ever happened. When Clancy was asked about it, he basically said that they changed it because the Muslim terrorist storyline was "cliched" and there hadn't been any big terrorist attacks of that sort in a while, so they wanted something more original. He actually says that if the movie had been started production after September 11th, they would have left it as in the book because it would have been more current and more plausible. -
Anyone have a link to the video of this? WWE.com's is not working.

Personally I think in all these things (Pledge, money, etc.), "God" should be replaced by "the President". -

How about uncapitalizing God? -
Wow, that's just plain awful. That looks like something from DMX's last album, minus a couple of "niggaz" and a half-dozen "dawgs".

Video Games That Might Make Good Movies
Hogan Made Wrestling replied to ChrisMWaters's topic in Television & Film
There's been rumours of a potential Halo movie directed by Ridley Scott. Which means it will involve 100000 explosions, and be the loudest movie ever. All they would need is Jerry Bruckheimer to produce it. -
Assistant Director/Deputy Director Kersh from the X-Files. Oh man I can't even count the number of times I would have liked to reach into the TV and strangle that idiot. Unlike CSM who was such a true villain you could respect him, Kersh was a bumbling idiot and his face turn in the series finale was totally unconvincing based on everything he had done up to then.

Even if SpikeTV were to bring in something like TNA, why would they put it on at the same time as RAW? I know the most markish of internet fans cream themselves at any suggestion of the "Monday night wars" being reborn, but that's a poor business decision. Why fight with the WWE for a declining audience when you can run unopposed at some other time.

Personally I see most of this stuff as a total non-issue. For instance, if you hadn't told me, I'd have no idea that "In God We Trust" is on currency, because I tend to only read the important stuff on money, namely that number in the corner. The one place where I don't think it belongs is in the pledge, because it's not traditional that it be there, and was only added in the 1950s as a reactionary tactic against the Soviet Union. The Cold War is over, the USA won, return the pledge to its original form. -
I don't see a problem with having a European head the World Bank, then an American head the IMF the next time that position becomes open. It's two sides of the same coin.
