  1. For whatever reason, while I think any team can win this week, I think one game will surprisingly end up a blowout.
  2. Yahoo IM all the way. AIM puts way too much shit on your computer. Plus, I don't like IMing much, and most of my friends are on AIM, so it works out nicely. EDIT: Plus the Yahoo Presidents are from my Alma Mater, Tulane.
  3. How is Denver's pass defense?
  4. Good thing it wasn't camel spiders.
  5. I remember him specifically stating that if Bateman hadn't killed those people, it wouldn't work as a satire.
  6. I had fun with both Ape Escapes. The monkeys did seem quite a bit smarter in AE 1.
  7. Ellis has apparently said that Bateman did it.
  8. One thing I think will help Pittsburgh out a lot is that they can switch in and out their RBs with regularity, preventing them from sucking wind. It's very hard for an every-down back to succeed in the thin air of Denver.
  9. Galaxy Quest. Picked it up for 50c. It was a very pleasant surprise.
  10. FINE. Getting past the fact that I don't like Interpol, which newer bands do you think have legs?
  11. There's a frink named after mine. It's called 'the ultimate shit-eatter'
  12. Only song I've ever listened to that has been a little bit scary is Sonic Youth's 'Shaking Hell'. Even with my well-known SY-boner, that song is just straight jugg-fuckled. Though The Wall movie scared the living shit out of me when I was 8. Fucking dad. Atari Teenage Riot is quite awesome. If I was to ever be executed, I would like them to play 'By any means necessary' or the Breeders' Cannonball. As an aside, I determined a couple years ago that 'Cannonball' is my favorite song ever, simply because I will never tire of it. Terrific song. Boom Doo-doom, doo-doo. Boom Doo-doom, doo-doo. Dooooo-doodoodoo--oom doodoodoo-oom. Good song.
  13. Meaning, they'll be listened to for quite a while. There's some bands, like Sleater-Kinney, Blonde Redhead, L'~, that I HOPE are popular in the long run, but certainly aren't now. (Plus they've both been playing for quite a while) Some suggestions. Queens of the Stone Age: Their last two albums are by far their best. Can write some sexy songs, and can definitely play some of that guitar. They put on a terrific live show, I've seen them thrice. Franz Ferdinand: Two good albums and charisma. Their live performances of their songs put the studio recordings to shame. Seen 'em twice. The Strokes: WAY overhyped, but they've survived it. Many will differ in opinion, but I think they're getting steadily better. Either way, they're evolving. Supposedly good live, their back and forth guitar work is pretty fun. Coldplay: I started out liking Coldplay just fine, then they made the same song 80 times. Their best melody was lifted from Kraftwerk. Nonetheless, they're massively popular, and I don't see it ending soon. Calling them rock may be a bit generous, though. On the cusp? The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I liked their first album quite a bit. They have a really sloppy, but very energetic live show. Really hinges on their second album. While Karen O's squealing, brew-swilling theatrics get all the press, the guitarist and drummer are more than solid. I know a few people who bought the album for 'Maps' and were turned off by the rest of the album. White Stripes: Have had some really good albums, but the last one left me cold. Problem? They can't duplicate their sound live, and are sort of terrible live. Meg is NOT a good drummer, and they need to form a touring band to accentuate Jack White's work. Ben GIbbard. Death Cab is a decent band. As girly, introspective bands go, they're tops for me. Postal Service is the way to go, though, and he should embrace it. Has a pleasant voice, and can write some good songs. He can also write some tremendously cloying lyrics. Notable: I don't think any of the nu-wave bands are going to last. Killers et al will be a footnote. Same with the generally talentless emo bands. Dreary Joy Division-lite bands like Interpol and She Wants Revenge. I saw Interpol live, because Blonde Redhead opened for them. BR was awesome. Interpol was just dreary.
  14. About how much time has passed since Terry's murder?
  15. I just want the 'Hawks to get to the Super Bowl. Obviously, I want them to win, but if they make it to the big game, I think they'll have erased the stigma of being chokers. The only reason I can think of to hate the 'Hawks is that they've made it to the playoffs a couple times, simply because they played in a shitty division. That talk can be put to rest some this season, though they did have a very easy schedule.
  16. Jaysis, how did that slip my mind? I think they built Seahawks stadeum too small to even host a SB ever, stupid Seattle.
  17. I think and hope the Seahawks win. Should be an exciting game either way. Shaun's in, DeShaun's out. Y'all are haters. Honestly, why the Seahawks hate? They play good ball, they're not packed full of arrogant jackasses, They're a complete team. God forbid they win a conference championship for the first time ever! Pittsburgh's looked demonic lately, but they're playing at Mile High, against a team that isn't rusty or crippled by injury. This game's going to be a lot closer than most think. I hope Denver wins, I don't think they can beat the Hawks at home, but the Steelers definitely can. I'm 50/50, no idea who's going to win. COULDN'T care less.
  18. Swan got every band I was going to mention. Good show!
  19. Here in seattle we're pretty blessed with all types of food, and more restaurants than anywhere I've seen outside of Texas (Houston has a restaurant to every two houses in the city, I swear). I think we have excellent restaurants in all Cuisines, except for southern foods. We have one decent soul food restaurant I know of, only one good BBQ joint, which isn't even technically in Seattle, and one horribly overpiced cajun eattery. Pretty much everything else, we're in like Flint.
  20. I've gotten clam chowder the consistency of phlegm at a restaurant before. They had probably over-thickened it with corn starch, either way, it was fucking disgusting. It was gelatinous. French onion soup is even easier: Onions Beef stock stale bread cheese. You cannot screw that up.
  21. I've never heard of Toliet. Obviously a french philosopher or explorer. Cadillac-Williams? Really? Ha!
  22. I could have gone with some more Symbion Project/Komputer Kontroller/Freezepop in the bonus songs. The one Freezepop song is sweet. I there are some terrible (not to mention ultra-repetitious) tracks in the bonus tracks, but they got a really nice mix of songs in there. If you guys like this, I heartily reccomend Amplitude, which is like $20 now anyway. I know half the fun of Guitar Hero is the controller, but Amplitude will get you in much more of a musical trance with its more difficult tracks.
  23. Man, I'd like to play Sonic CD. 2, 3, Sonic and Knuckles are some of my fave platformers in the world. 3+knuckles was weird.
  24. Well, TO was a pretty model citizen in 2004-5. He was by far the best WR in the league when he was playing, and he turned in a very ballsy Super Bowl performance. People thought he was happy with McNabb. The trouble started when he held out. Plus, I think a WR, RB, or ace defensive player is given just a little leeway, but the QB is the team leader. He's always supposed to be on his best behavior.
  25. I'm interested, but I don't think that many people will respond, because not that many people are going to sit through Sandanista!
