Just an example of an undercard feud so well developed that the fans cared more about it than the main event feuds. At one time I really liked WCW's attention and detail it gave it to it's midcard. The feud did go on a little bit longer than it should of. The climax and high point was at Slamboree at 98, Malenko wins the battle royal, takes off the mask, and procceeds to kick Jerichos ass and emotionally win the title. The crowd was really into it. What was great about the whole story was Jerichos heel character. He was the ultimate whiner, but the thing is, he literally beat the whole cruiserweight division fair and square with the Lion Tamer. When it was all said and done, they were tapping to the Lion Tamer, that gave him more credibility than the normal heel should have. Combine the good matches with some hilarious promos, and Jerichos 1998 WCW heel character ranks as the best character work Jericho has ever done. WWF heel Jericho never really is that creative or funny. This was definetly the high point of Malenkos career.

In retrospect both Bret and Shawn were not draws. If you look closer Bret drew more than Shawn because he was champion longer. You can't really compare their title reigns. All the Bret/Shawn debate really comes down to is which one like more. I like Bret more because I can't stand Shawn. It makes me angry to know that son of bitch is still involved in wrestling as the top babyface in 2004. Even worse is the years of WWE propaganda claiming he is legend. Dosen't it seem like they give legend status to anyone who has been wrestling for over ten years. With Shawn it's worse because they were trying to do it when he was still wrestling in 1997. In the WWF/WWE world, Shawn Micheals IS a legend. It's not just that he's been around for over10 years, he was just a huge part of the WWF midcard for a lot of years and than he was a huge part of the main event scene for a good 2-3 years in his prime. He won the title a couple of times, has had classic matches, and now in the last year he's back to being a big time main event guy. You can't really deny that Shawn isn't as much of a WWF legend as Bret Hart is.

I think the Rock in 97-98 was the best IC Champion of the modern era. He held the title for what, 7-8 months? His heel character and mic skills were both top notch. Nation of Domination Rock just gave classic material I clearly remember 3 great feuds. The first with Steve Austin- Austin throws his belt off the bridge. The second with Ken Shamrock- Remember that vicious chairshot to Shamrocks face? And the last with HHH- Another good feud, ending with the ladder match at Summerslam. Their was also a feud with Farroque thrown in there. The Rock just seemed to take great pride in being the IC Champ. The only reason he lost the belt was so that they could move him up to the World Title picture. By the end of his reign the people were pretty much cheering the hell out of him. Anybody agree that the Rock was the best IC champ in a long time?

Benoit just hasn't gotten the focus and attention that the World Champ should get. It's not that Benoit's mic skills are so horrible, it's just that he doesn't get the time to show it. It's going to be real hard for Benoit to have any memorable feuds as World Champion because good promos are apart of getting it over. And, not to point out the obvious, but HHH is the star on Raw. If Raw is a TV show, than HHH is the MAIN CHARACTER. The show is built around his character, and it's been built up like that for over a year and a half. You guys should be used to it now, hell you might as well accept it. Sure some of us hate the guy, but he gets a pretty big pop every time, and his promos usually drive the main event storylines. Not saying we have to like it, but HHH with his family connections and what not, is in a posistion where the show runs through him. It's hard to build the show around a face unless they have a huge amount of charisma, but HHH is the biggest heel the WWE has. I can't even hate the guy anymore. It's so common to see a HHH promo, why protest it? And correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't shawn a pretty good draw in 95 and early-mid 96? I figured his drawing power went down after he had the World Title for a long time.

It would of put over Shawn more if Bret stayed and shook his hands. How were Bret Hart fans not supposed to hate Shawn after Bret walked away pissed off?

Jordan didn't win a title but he made the playoffs every year, dropped 63 on the Celts, won an MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, lead the league in scoring for a couple of years in the 80's, hit many gamewinners, and in general was the most exciting player in the league from the second he stepped in. He is a top 10 player from the 80's easily.

Jordan should be top 10. Who else was MVP and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season?

Hey I like Kane! He's a fairly developed character. Anybody remember a Rock promo when he was the corporate champ? It's the most hilarious thing ever. Rock looking at Kane- "And look over here, we have pure idiot. 7 feet walking, talking idiot. You put his brain in a parikey, and ZING, flies backwards.

OMG! BUDNICK IS THE SHIT! That was awesome how he planted that stuff in that geeks bag. He was about to awful waffle the kid too knowing he was innocent, that's some cold hearted stuff! Budnick truly was a great character. I believe he got softer in later episodes and genuinally became everyones friend.

A Benoit DVD outselling HBK/Foley dvds? Do some of you have this impression that Benoit is over to a point where general marks will shell out 20 bucks to watch some of his old matches? I guarantee this DVD doesn't outsell Foleys or HBK's.

They have tried to push Edge in the past, it's not like he hasn't been given an oppertunity. He should of been a clear-cut main eventer after his feud with Angle....but.....he's in a worse posistion now. I agree with whoever says he is a midcarder for life.

If Jericho was smart, he would make the stipulation that he gets 15 minutes in bed with Trish if he wins. Then again, he might just get off on putting her in a Lion Tamer for 5 minutes.
