  1. http://www.kfor.com/Global/story.asp?S=1571115 Mexico City-AP -- A 24-year-old Mexican man is dead after reportedly playing a human pinata for some children. A newspaper (Reforma) says the man was standing on a beam with a rope loosely tied around his neck and ropes tied around his hands and feet. He was letting his younger brother and sister swing at him with sticks but lost his balance while trying to avoid being hit. He strangled when the rope tightened around his neck.
  2. This is different from the gift one. So, overall how was your Christmas? Was it the best? The worst? etc For me it was a good Christmas. I was with my family, had good dinner, good fun. So it was a good Christmas for me. How about you?
  3. Well for Christmas I got a Gamecube with the Zelda disc and my sister got me Viewtiful Joe. And may I say what a kick ass game. The VFX powers are the coolest, the effects are great and it's just an all around cool games. Right now I'm on ep 4 with the tanks. The game is kinda hard but, it's not to hard but, then I'm playing on the kids mode right now. So what does everyone else think of the game?
  4. Let see I got: A Gamecube with the Zelda disc Viewtful Joe A 50th edition Corvette Clock And a bunch of cash which I'm going to use to by some more Gamecube games.
  5. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.
  6. Yeah I remember that JR was always calling him a blue chipper and I remember the night he face Storm and Christian on the same night. Orton was trying to do his finishing move on Christian, I don't know what it was but, it looked to hard for Orton to be to doing and Orton screwed it up BIG time.
  7. I never did like the show. It just seemed like an ego trip for Roseanne and juding by the shit that went on behind the show with Tom makes me think it even more. The only real good thing was John Goodman, he keep it grounded. But, once he left the show so did the show.
  8. She's Vanessa Angel and damn is she hot.
  9. http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,13162,00.html Bruce Finally #*&!-ing Pardoned by Julie Keller Better late than never, dammit. Nearly 40 years after cuss-happy comic Lenny Bruce was convicted for swearing during a show at a Manhattan night club, New York Governor George Pataki has issued a pardon. In a statement Tuesday, Pataki called the move, the first posthumous pardon in the state's history, "a declaration of New York's commitment to upholding the First Amendment." The late funny man, a pioneer of standup comedy with his raucous routines on such previously taboo subjects as sex and religion, was charged with giving an obscene performance following a November 1964 gig at Café au Go Go in New York. Undercover cops said he swore more than 100 times during his show. Bruce was convicted after a six-month trial and sentenced to four months in jail, effectively ending his career. He then mishandled his appeal, never filing the correct paperwork. When he died of a drug overdose in 1967 at the age of 37, he hadn't yet served any time but the conviction remained on his record, much to the chagrin of fans and First Amendment proponents. His free-speech battle has become legend in the show-biz world, particularly among comedians. Several stars, including Robin Williams, the Smothers Brothers, Phyllis Diller, Margaret Cho and Penn and Teller, joined with Bruce's daughter and a team of lawyers to fight to get the conviction overturned. Bruce "almost single-handedly turned comedy clubs into free-speech zones," Ronald Collins, a legal scholar with the Virigina-based First Amendment Center and a mastermind of the pardon campagn, told the New York Times. "He needed to be vindicated," Collins told the Times. "We're elated. It's very important that now this record has been set straight." Collins cowrote The Trials of Lenny Bruce with David Skover, a law professor at Seattle University. The two men used the Website for their book to launch the campaign to clear Bruce's name. Their book is just the latest project to reevaluate Bruce and his groundbreaking role as both an entertainer and free-speech advocate. Dustin Hoffman scored an Oscar nod for his starring role in the 1974 biopic Lenny, and Lenny Bruce: Swear to Tell the Truth, a 1999 HBO documentary narrated by Robert De Niro, was nominated for a documentary feature Oscar. "In the tradition of Lenny Bruce, it's about f---ing time," said Donna Lieberman, executive director of the New York Civil Liberties Union. "This is an important step toward setting the record straight about Lenny Bruce, about his role not as a criminal but as a visionary in American humor. And we're pleased that the governor has righted this wrong."
  10. Tomorrow I might buy either Doube Dash or NFS: Underground. I've owned and played the other Mario Carts and I've played alittle of NFS and I think it's good even if it looks like a riceboy's wet dream. So any thought on which one I should get?
  11. I'm getting Viewitful Joe for X-Mas and I plan on buying NFS: Underground and Mario Double Dash.
  12. Do you know what it's called?
  13. Just checking to make sure since I'm going to get one tomorrow. What would be the best memory card for the Gamecube? I want to get a good one.

  16. Could it happen? WWE is considering turning Matt Hardy face because he seems to always get face reactions in the arena. At this point, the thinking is that they have to do something with him before the window of opportunity for his push is gone. Credit: Wrestling Observer Newsletter
  17. Will it damage Eminem's popularity? A New York federal judge will allow The Source Magazine to distribute CDs containing 20 seconds of lyrics from early Eminem songs which contain racist lyrics. The magazine plans to enclose the CD in its next issue. Eminem has stated that the apparent racist recordings were made "out of anger, stupidity and frustration" after breaking up with a black girlfriend. In addition to the 20 seconds, the magazine will be allowed to reprint eight lines from the recording. The January issue of The Source hits newstands on January 12th.

  19. http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,13155,00.html ALF: The Comeback Kid, er, Alien by Julie Keller This just in from the home office in Melmac: The 7,385 signers of the "Bring Back ALF" online petition letter have finally gotten their wish. The furry, cat-craving extraterrestrial star of the 1980s NBC sitcom, most recently spotted slumming it for long-distance services 10-10-220 and 1-800-COLLECT, has just landed his own show on Nickelodeon. ALF's Hit Talk Show, starring the sarcastic puppet voiced by Paul Fusco, is a new series in development for Nick at Nite. Perhaps taking a hint from his latest 10-10-220 commercial where he channels Johnny Carson, the show will feature ALF (short for Alien Life Form--his given name is Gordon Shumway) interviewing a host of celebs. The gabfest is part of an effort by the Nickelodeon and TV Land channels (both owned by media giant Viacom) to garner a more adult audience in the post-kiddie viewing hours. Among the other shows on tap are two new adult-friendly animated series from Bill Cosby and Kelsey Grammer. For now Nickelodeon is banking on the alien appeal of ALF. Surprisingly, the hirsute space oddity has retained a major cult following since NBC pulled ALF off the air in 1990 after five seasons of dissing the daily activities of the Tanner clan, his de facto family after his spaceship crashed into their garage. Thirteen years after the show was canceled, hundreds of fan sites have sprung up on the Web. ALF's unlikely comeback began earlier this year when he was hired to hawk long-distance services opposite the likes of Terry Bradshaw, Mike Piazza, Emmitt Smith and Toby Keith. Apparently a couple lousy commercials weren't enough for ALF's most ardent fans, many of whom took to the Net to petition for a more appropriate vehicle to showcase ALF's unique talents. "ALF is the coolest, most loveable alien and for some reason he is off. Networks, get him back," begged Tara on the Planet Melmac Message Board in the dark days before Nickelodeon green-lighted the talk show. "Whoever the powers to be are: PLEASE!!! Bring back this show!!! With all the junk on the dial today... nothing would make me happier than to be able to watch my furry friendly buddy," added ALF aficionado Jody. Though none of Jody's TV ideas (such as ALF Returns, ALF Goes Hollywood, ALF Over the Rainbow, ALF visits London and the U.K., ALF: Return of the Family, ALF Return to Melmac or Winter Vacation with ALF) were picked up, ALF's Hit Talk Show is ready to go. The pilot was taped in November, and ALF's run as the next Dave/Jay/Oprah will begin early in 2004.
  20. The last time Booker used the Bookend was a few weeks ago on RAW. I can't remember who but, I think it was Mark Henry.
  21. I loved those Rock Concerts. Hell at the time it was one on the only good things on RAW. Hell at one time I wished it was just a two hour Rock Concert on RAW instead of the crap they had on there.
  22. Hell you know Hogan's death is going to get mainstream coverage to.
  23. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...usa_impact_dc_1 Cash-Strapped Cities Grapple with Security Costs By Caroline Drees WASHINGTON (Reuters) - For cash-strapped U.S. cities and states, this week's heightened national threat alert level has reignited concerns about costs alongside fears of a new terror attack. From overtime for police officers to extra patrols at key facilities and borders, cities nationwide must spend tens of millions of dollars each week for the additional security measures, money some local officials say they do not have. "It's enormously frustrating," said Randy King, spokesman for the city of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, a state capital of 49,000 people near the Three Mile island nuclear power plant. "All of it costs money, lots of money, and there's no federal reimbursement," he said. On Sunday, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security raised the color-coded terror alert level to "high" orange from "elevated" yellow -- the fourth such move this year. Lifting the level triggers a raft of automatic additional federal security precautions, and serves as a guideline for cities and states. "We need to recognize that every time the government ratchets up the threat level, we force the state and local government officials to make a choice," said analyst David Heyman of the Center for Strategic and International Studies. "These are officials who are struggling with huge budget shortfalls and they have to choose between protecting their communities and slashing other programs. That's difficult today," he said. While officials acknowledge the additional costs, they say you cannot put a price tag on security. STEEP COSTS A survey by the U.S. Conference of Mayors earlier this year showed cities spent about $70 million per week on extra security measures when the alert level was raised to orange. "State and local governments can't afford to constantly be on a high state of alert," said analyst Charles Pena at the libertarian Cato Institute. "So at some point ... they're likely to say: 'Sorry. We can't afford to do it this time,' -- especially considering all the false warnings." Security experts and local officials have criticized the system in the past, arguing that it was overused, ineffective and too much of a strain on tight budgets. But experts also say the Department of Homeland Security has finetuned the system and raised the bar for alerts. For that reason, CSIS's Heyman said, "We need to take this recent raising of the alert level more seriously." But a Democratic congressional staffer dealing with homeland security said the financial burden was too high. He said his office got frequent calls from frustrated local officials asking for help to pay for the tighter security. "The current alert level system doesn't do much but scare people and cost a lot of money," he said. In New York, which has been on "orange alert" since 9/11 and spends an estimated $5 million a week on additional security, National Guard units were deployed at airports, bridges and tunnels following Sunday's announcement, and more police were sent to vital infrastructure and tourist spots. But elsewhere in the United States, the response was more reserved. Donald Williamson, director of communications for the city of Akron, Ohio, which has a population of 217,000 people, said security was already tight. "There's not much more we can do." Williamson said the city was now spending an additional $35,000 every week to pay for overtime and security upgrades. Police in the northern state of Maine which borders Canada said they also had no plan to increase the number of officers on duty in response to the new alert level. (additional reporting by David Morgan in Philadelphia, Greg Frost in Boston, Grant McCool in New York and Mike Conlon in Chicago)
