Not good for Obama. The big Madison rally has been a Dem staple since 1984. It's been a guranteed means of getting a huge crowd motivated near election day & looking good on television. Without a big Madison rally, Gore and Kerry probably would've lost the state in 00 and 04. The polls show Obama ahead by a greater margin in the polls now than they were but McCain is still active. By canceling this speech Obama loses a chance to motivate between 30-100,000 supporters to go out and work the last 10 days or so. Instead, he's angered more than a few voters with a weekend-long bait-and-switch. Right now, McCain needs to run the table of toss-up states and steal a couple back from Obama. Obama just traded a chance to drop the final hammer in Wisconsin. He's given McCain one state to try to steal back. Not surprising, though, Dems have been killing themselves for years. This is politics, not the law of averages. Overconfidence never has worked with this stuff & it never will. Unbelievably dumb.

Cut to two weeks before the big day: I thought the Republicans desperately wanted Hillary to win because they thought all of her skelotons might allow them to beat her. He has a show on Fox because his efforts in the primaries made him the clear conservative golden boy for 2012/16. Nobody, besides maybe Palin, is even close to Huckabee for the next GOP nomination. Obviously, Fox wants in on the ground floor and they probably think that a guy with the base of Huckabee could bring in good ratings with Fox's target demographic. Joe the Plumber is that demographic's focus of their relentless cult of personality for the moment, he was the perfect guest for the show this week. I liked the part where he lost his train of thought. Huckabee, as usual, was classy in helping him out of it.

She looked like she was enjoying herself both times she was involved in the show. This is nothing new. Bush Sr & Ford really enjoyed their portayals on SNL even though they were caricatured (Bush even did Carvey's impression of himself at Ford's funeral!).

I thought she did very well on SNL. I'm not sure this 'charm offensive' can right the GOP ship, but it'll make McCain's grandkids proud & keep Palin in the running for 2012/16. What impact will Gen. Powell's endorsement have? Will the GOP discredit it because he's black? Will it swing some of the remaining undecideds? Powell is Ameria's foremost living military man, I would hope that Americans will be able to put his skin aside to truly gauge the importance of him endorsing a Democratic candidate.

I've had to stop watching. They're the worst. It seemed kinda promising going into the season but they've been horrendous since being up 17-0 on Michigan. They can't throw, run, block, tackle, or coach. But they make up for it by having a really classy band. No, wait, the band got suspended too. Nevermind.

Really weird bill for the Get Out & Vote show in Milwaukee- Beastie Boys, Ben Harper, Nash & Crosby, and Tenacious D.
