REASONS FOR DRAFTING THE DARKO INSTEAD OF AN ACTUAL PROVEN NBA PLAYER OR ROOKIE
He's gotta play this year. Seriously. With Larry and his youngster hatin' ways long gone, Joe Dumars is going to subtly and not-so-subtly hint to Flip Saunders to let Darko see some quality playing time. You spent the #2 pick on him, he's been in the NBA system for two years now, under one of the best coaches the game has ever seen. If all he's learned to do is how to get arrested, then he'll be one of the biggest busts ever and a major sore spot on what has been a fairly solid record for Dumars thus far.
I think he'll be a decent backup this year to the Wallaces. Will he be a starting center this year? No, but are there any starting centers left on the board, barring injury? Either way, I need someone to play at the 5 spot. I've got plenty of 2's and 3's that I'm willing to make a deal with, but I still need someone to go into that role for the time being.
15 mpg, 10 ppg, 5 rpg, 2 apg. I believe those are reasonable numbers for a young player coming off the bench, and in a keeper league the size of this one, it's about all I can ask for a C drafted in the second to last round.
And if he craps out again, I dump him and sign George Mikan or something.
