From RoyalRumble.com: Bill Goldberg Career Highlights: World Heavyweight Champion; WCW Champion; WCW Tag Team Champion (w/Bret Hart); WCW United States Champion It's a seperate title. The last official WCW champion was Chris Jericho, and that belt is currently merged with the WWE title that Brock Lesnar holds today. The only WCW belt that has a continuing lineage today is the Cruiserweight title.

A World title should not be revered based on it's 'classic match' status . If that were the case, the WCW Cruiserweight title would have be the most prestigious title in the company in 96/97. I don't like the way the New World Title has been handled since it's inception either, but it is a testament to the most 'dominant' wrestler, as being held by the #1 guy in the company (or in this case , brand). Benoit wants to win the *the big one*. The RAW title is the other big one on the other brand. By winning it, his story book dream of being *a* world champion will have been fulfilled. Distinction of disbelief is an important part of professional wrestling. Being able to seperate oneself from the fickle 'smark' perception of such things helps to view the RAW World Title with a bit more validity.

Well, given the fact the design of world titles these days only seem to last a couple of years, so the distinction will probably become more evident in the future. It still holds the same value as the WWE title though. Despite the shoddy booking around the title holders and reigns, it is still revered as the highest plateau for a wrestler to reach on the RAW brand. Benoit winning it would *almost* be as important as winning the WWE title ( i say almost since the WWE title has a more prestige lineage). In the eyes of casual fans, marks, smart marks, whoever, Benoit would be seen as the #1 guy on the RAW brand, the supposed flagship program of the number one wrestling company in North America.

No man, by your justification Benoit 'vacacted' the old WCW title for what it stood for at the time (nothing) and basically out of the shitty state of the company. Winning the RAW World Title thus would not hold the same merit since it is NOT the same title. Sure, they should have changed the look of it instead of adding a few subtle changes. Had they done a complete 180 on the title from the get go, would you still consider it having the same value as the WCW title belt?

I think we need to get over the fact that the World Heavyweight title on RAW is NOT the WCW world title despite looking identical. The new World Heavyweight title was created in September 2002 and holds a lineage of HHH-HBK-HHH-Goldberg-HHH. If you look at the RoyalRumble.com and check out Goldberg's profile you'll see him as having seperate World Title and WCW Title reigns rather then 2 World title reigns. With that said, in kayfabe land, Benoit winning the World Title on RAW would hold the same prestige as the WWE title. However, it's a shame he wouldn't be able to hold the same WWE Title previously held by guys like Bret, Hogan and Flair. But i see the World Title as an equal accomplishment.

The numbers are the stupid rating system the Brits use. The number corresponding to the recommended age to be able to watch the show.

Dear god. That wasn't even on the actual PPV. I vote 7

Well, even if it is a while before Season 4 is out, at least there's Season 3 of Futurama (argueably the shows best season) in March.
-
Even with those release dates, stores like HMV and Sunrise don't care to stock wrestling DVD"s on time so it could even take a few weeks after that. Should they be on time however, January 27 will be a glorious day. Ultimate Ric Flair and The Critic box set

So.....anyone here ANYTHING about season 4 yet?

Lance jobbing on Heat makes me sad. Their dropping the ball on the potential Storm/Venis face tag team. Given a decent push they could challange Flair/Batista in a plausable WMXX match

Blasphemy! Wrestlers have absolutely NO PLACE on WRESTLEMania! That idiot! Lets job him to Mae Young! Hahahahah. Great sig man

Im going to New York for WrestleMania XX in March from Toronto . What would be the most affordable way to go? Planes are expensive, trains are just as much, Greyhound isn't that much cheaper and the longest route. Driving would obviously be the cheapest, but it would cut into a good amount of the 3 day trip. Anyone know of any cheap airlines? Also, my friend plans to wear a "Yankees Suck" shirt once down there and wants to know if he will get shot. Thanks!

OMG Britney married Duckman!

Benoit winning would make sense in terms of the "Heyman won't give him a WWE title shot" storyline. Me likes.
-
Does the winner even get the shot at WrestleMania this year? They've only been mentioning the title shot on Smackdown! and nothing about going to WrestleMania. Which leads me to think they may be trying to work their way around the rumoured title holder vs. title holder match at Mania and have the winner have his title shot at NWO

My mouse won't work. And every time I replace it with a different one, it still doesn't work. Any advice?

i'm all for it if it means Orton doesn't win the Rumble. But it he probably will, and it will be Rock/Foley vs. Flair/Batista at Mania instead
