Eating at Applebees for the first time in four years.

We both know this is only a small part of it.

Also, re: IHOP, I realize I've dined there within the past two years, but they get a pass. Decent breakfast, if nothing else. I know of a couple of smallish eateries (one of which is less than a mile from my place) which both offer a far superior breakfast. I go to one of them whenever I go out to eat in the morning at all.

Chains. I live in a city that touches the goddamn ocean, yet people line up to get into Red Lobster. wtf, guys?

Georgia has two, maybe three decent cities; the rest of the state should be obliterated.

    What-ho, gents?

I'd like this gimmick better if he ever made sense. He has the language down, but things like "moxie in your humours" are illogical.

I've found shopping for a washer-dryer set to be far more intimidating than I had expected.

    Name that beer bottle...

Guinness is the only good beer of the 12 listed.

pbone has been posting a lot, recently.

I thought that initially, but the few of his other posts I've noticed don't jibe with D so well.

I like them, but seriously, bring a pillow. Speaking of live shows, I saw Mastodon last night. Good times, save for the guy who decided to start a one-man pit right behind me during the set-closing "Blood and Thunder."

Thread deserves to be updated more than it is. I'm still on The Executioner's Song, though I'll have it finished within the next couple of days. Mailer's handling of the material makes for the most jarring, unbiased treatment I've ever encountered over the argument of the death penalty. Though the events depicted within the book are now 30+ years old, there's more than enough human drama and political grist for either side in the debate regarding capital punishment, even to this day.

    Durgz

Sex can arguably be construed as a vice; there's a point where getting so much tail from as many sources as possible is an addiction, "monogamy isn't natural" arguments be damned. Also, really, anything pursued for no greater purpose than personal pleasure can be considered a vice. Also, re: Agent's pothead days, the day I met the dude, he was obv. blazed the whole time, but, when he smoked me up, he had no trouble annihilating me in under five minutes in a game of chess. Granted, I had only started playing a couple of weeks prior to our meet-up, but the way he so casually handed my ass to me while being under as much influence of controlled substances as I was was certainly impressive.

Spector's work on this album is something beautiful. That crazy, bastard murderer.

There's a passage in The Executioner's Song wherein Geraldo Rivera scores weed for an attorney of Gary Gilmore's. It really happened.

New Miserable Experience, within its limitations, was a fine album. Had it not been burdened with shiny, alterna-friendly 90s-style production, the Gin Blossoms' Big Star-aping would likely have been held in higher regard by today's indie crowd.

No matter how times I had previously heard the song, it wasn't until just now that I noticed that the opening of Morrissey's "Tomorrow" completely apes the opening of "War Pigs."
