Yeah, I know it as pre-drinking. Except now, given I'm pals with the head bartender at my favorite bar—it's one of the places I took you to, Gene (the one not at the beach)—I can do my pre-drinking there for cheap before heading out elsewhere. If I do. Often times I just bring my friends to that bar and we get drunk there.

The Clash's "Spanish Bombs" and Elvis Costello and the Attractions' "Oliver's Army." The latter predates the former by only a few months, but they have the same exact melody. The Clash track simply plays it on guitar as opposed to the keyboard-driven Costello tune.

Were I on my home computer, I'd attach both "Panic" and "Metal Guru" and everyone can listen and compare. Czech, do you have mp3s of both handy? I wouldn't be able to do this myself until this evening.

This thread makes me realize it has been a very long time since I've listened to a Smiths album. I should do something about that. Also, that's neat that we can attach mp3s. More people should take advantage of that.
