  1. Though he's mostly been flying under the radar, Sly's been a real solid poster as of late.
  2. I'm listening to this a second time. I'm still cringing that they fucking named a song "No I in Threesome," even moreso since it's actually a good song. I'm fine with it being about a regretted menage a trois, but really, calling it that?
  3. Haha, I kinda like that cover.
  4. "Evil" and, to a lesser extent, "Slow Hands" were the stand-outs. Based on one listen, this new one has no real bad songs (unlike Antics) and some geuinely good ones. I particularly like—in spite of its name—"No I in Threesome" and "Mammoth."
  5. I like this more than I did Antics.
  6. Or you could listen to the whole album: http://www.sendspace.com/file/1zov1p
  7. Roxy Music did a beautiful version of "Jealous Guy" that's only disliked by people with bad taste.
  8. Covers are often fun, though, as I've said elsewhere on this board, all-covers albums are usually a bad idea. Here again are, in my estimation, the exceptions: The Dirtbombs - Ultraglide in Black Dump - That Skinny Motherfucker with the High Voice Bryan Ferry - These Foolish Things Since "Loverman" was mentioned, I'll say (and not for the first time) that Kicking Against the Pricks was largely forgettable.
  9. Maybe if he both italicized and bolded "walk away" in 20-point font.
  10. You aren't funny. Not even a little. Catty!
  11. I was way hammered when I wrote that, so I got a way from my basic point that there are many fake-meat products which are actually worse for you than the real thing. Also, I hate the spelling of "veganism" in the title.
  12. Do you have statistical evidence to back this up? I doubt that the appropriate figure of sucky covers is 99%.
  13. Sounds like something I said. To further that, doesn't it seem kind of shifty how a vegan will eat tofu-meat, which is meant to taste like real meat? That just sounds like a complex of guilt and denial. Like they want to eat meat, but are too big of a pussy to off a hog. And, as it has been alluded to, most tofu/soy-fake meat is loaded with so many chemicals that you're better off eating real meat, as far as health reasons go. I'll be the first to admit that Morningstar's Chik'n Buffalo Nuggets are tasty, but they're basically edible WMDs.
  14. That isn't loading for me. By the way, my mother called me earlier today to tell me I shouldn't visit youtube, as she heard they've been having virus problems. Yes, she called me for no reason other than to tell me that.
  15. It isn't, really, especially compared to the first two KC albums. Anyway, Islands is dull. Best track is "Sailor's Tale," which works because it features some deliciously nasty guitar from Fripp. However, that's countered by some surprisingly awful sax-work from the usually reliable Mel Collins.
  16. Will I be invited to your kid's confirmation, Rant.
  17. The supposition of this thread is that there is something to be disappointed about in McDonalds.
  18. The new one may be their best since White Blood Cells.
  19. A Definitive Statement, by Gary Floyd
  20. Disappointing lack of specifics. Was he standing up? Sitting down? Was it a blumpy?
  21. It's a fallacy that early White Stripes were worth something. White Blood Cells was their first good album (the best one, too); every album since has been solid, if unspectacular.
  22. After a real cracking good post, I run a victory lap around my living room.
  23. Do you suppose Curry had the slightest hint of a smile across his lips when he posted that? I imagine he even nodded his head while typing it.
  24. I, without any reservation, can say that DCFC turned out one solid album—We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes—and a handful of good songs spread out on their early eps and lps (with regard to the latter, I mainly refer to The Photo Album; their first album, Something About Airplanes, was little more than a Built to Spill rip-off, minus that band's guitar theatrics). I can't defend them at all now, though.
  25. You deserved it. We don't tolerate this from Vanhalen, after all.
