  1. My sister will be heartbroken. This has been her favorite band since "One Week" was a hit.
  2. No, they aren't. Then I assure you your social circle is the exception, not the rule.
  3. Rasputin was murdered on my birthday.

  5. Men are inherently more reasonable and logical than women. Plus, they don't menustrate. Clearly, these are the advantages to dating men rather than women.
  6. It ceased being about the French New Wave in the first post.
  7. I first watched Sweet Movie 24 hours before seeing Salo for the first time. The latter seemed tame in comparison.
  8. There's now a French New Wave thread in the movies/tv folder, guys. Go have fun!
  9. The inclusion of MCR in the soundtrack could've made the use of Buckley possible. That said, Leonard Cohen's great, but the original version of "Hallelujah" stinks. I don't care much for any of the covers, either.
  10. The original Cohen version? Not the more famous Jeff Buckley take?
  11. I've not seen Fat Girl, but the few Catherine Breillat films I've seen either bored me senseless or filled me with rage.
  12. Of what's not on your list, the following: The 400 Blows Band of Outsiders Chloe in the Afternoon I mentioned Jean-Pierre Melville in the other thread. Never officially a part of the movement, he's generally considered the godfather of it, anyway. Check out Bob Le Flambeur; Truffaut, Godard, et al, took a lot of cues from that one. Le Samouri is also along those lines, though it came along a few years after the initial New Wave explosion. EDIT: http://www.avclub.com/articles/gateways-to...new-wave,24185/ The AV Club is usually lame, but that's a good article.
  13. Dude, I would post in this thread. Start it.
  14. Not quite the French New Wave, but I've been big on Jean-Pierre Melville lately. I ordered Le Cercle Rouge just the other day!
  15. Billy Crudup should be in more movies. Recently, I watched Jesus' Son for the first time since it was in theaters. The film was far from perfect, but he was terrific in it. I also liked him a lot in Almost Famous.
  16. I happen to think she's an attractive woman, but that's a terrible picture. It's like they slapped clown makeup on a horse.
  17. She looks grotesque in that picture.
  18. I'm hoping for this generation's Howard the Duck.
  19. This is going to be playing at a one-screener theater in my neighborhood. They serve beer at this joint; that might help.
  20. This does look like it's gonna blow. I don't know that I have the stones to sit through nearly three hours of this.
  21. Well, it was either this or start another thread in the Literature folder that no one will post in.
  22. What a weird question. I wasn't aware society had imposed age limitations on soda consumption. I don't do caffeine anymore, so I won't try this, but that's cool they're making the jump to cane sugar. Whole Foods-brand soda has cane; it's also caffeine-free. I think I'll go to Whole Foods today.
  23. Was Phil strung out the one time it wasn't balls-out awesome?
  24. haha, yes, TMC 1982!
