    Iraq

Just wanted to get a discussion about Iraq going. Not really about what's happened so far, more what will and should happen. Know most of us will agree the job must be finished. The question is how we go about this. More troops, another attempt to bring in allies, maybe a more agressive approach in what we have. IMO...we have the troops in Iraq to do the job and beat the terrorists. Second. With the assualt on Fallujah expected very soon. I think the President should address the battle and Iraq in general. For the campaign it's been a very positive attitude. Know i'll give the President the benefit of the doubt and say some of that was political...has not to give the opposing party ammo. Also, i'm sure positive steps are being taken. However things have not gone according to plan. Lastly. I think President Bush should address the nation. Be honest. Tell the people the administraton and himself should of known there would be a large flood of outside terrorists, and Baathist loyalists. Knowing what a stable democracy would do to terrorists and supports of a brutal dictator this should not of suprised us. This kind of fierce resistence should of been expected. So also should the possibility of high casualty rates. It was also wrong to think all Iraqi people would greet us with smiles. Many have, and many are grateful. However the Iraqi people first and foremost yearn to run their own country. Too many we look like occupiers. Let me assure you we are not. We are working hard with the Iraqi gov't to not only defeat the terrorist but to hold elections and continue the steps towards democracy. The sooner these things take place. The sooner coalition forces can leave Iraq, democracy can truly strive.
  2. Rumsfeld is... Aggggh.. From the "smaller, faster, more likely to get killed" military strategy, to the revival of Star Wars, to his flippant attitude towards the press. Actually many military experts believe the future to war is quicker, smaller more elite forces. One problem in Iraq is the U.S. attempting to fight the terrorists with one hand, while trying to win hearts and minds with the others. More troops aren't necessary if what we've got over there are allowed to fight with both hands. Please note. Rumsfeld stepping down would not be a bad thing. Chance is good, and it's needed.
  3. Moore's list continues. 18. I tend to make a lot more money is President Bush remains in office, and that's all I care about.
  4. John Danforth's name has been brought up as possible Secretary of State. Orrin Hatch could possibly be nominated for Supreme Court justice. Asa Hutchensen who is 2nd behind Tom Ridge seems like the logical replacement for Tom Ridge. Another expected appointee will the the new Terrorist Czar.
  5. Larry's been a journalist for a lot longer than that.
  6. The poor babies are tired.
  7. With Jason Bartlett waiting in the wings for the Twins. Expect a 1 year stop gap with someone like Vizquel.

  9. I have a feeling CNN will the first to call Bush the winner.
  10. Ohio is not that close.
  11. Would CNN stop the bullshit about Ohio being to close too call. Just admit you're to chicken too announce Bush won the state.
  12. What the hell is CNN waiting for? Bush won the state.
  13. How great would it be if Edwards turned on Kerry and announced he's running in 2008.
  14. Actually Mike, Bush has a 128,000 lead vote lead with 96% precincts reporting.
  15. Because of people like you.
  16. NBC has Bush winning Ohio.
  17. Who's gonna have the balls to put Bush over the top?
  18. CNN needs to get there projections updated.
  19. Post of the fucking night.
  20. What's the RCP?
  21. David Gergen on CNN just said Ohio looks like an uphill climb for Kerry.
  22. What's the point of calling Ohio? Even if you're almost 100% certain, may has well wait.
  23. We saw Delaware from across a bridge in Pennsylania on a family vacation.
  24. That's just a lazy looking ballot. Pudge, Boone are previous winners Jeter (big name) and Erstad, Wells, and Chavez all missed significant time.
  25. Truth be told I have zero confidence this week against Iggy. No this isn't reverse psychology. Iggy does an excellent job, and knows college football.
