  1. I think the EC will go on last but I think KOTR 1998 sets a precedent for matches like that being the semi-main then figuring into the main event. (At KOTR 98, they kept lowering the Cell during the Austin-Kane first blood match as a part of the Russo-induced storyline.)
  2. I've got one at Livejournal but haven't used it yet. I'm still trying to decide the right balance between writing stuff that's interesting and writing stuff that won't get people I know pissed at me if they read it.

    Test is Next De Niro!

It was actually decent until it became obvious that they were doing an angle... but that was production's fault and not his.

    RAW Debut of ...

Dinsmore's still a possibility for RAW since he's only been a Conqustator and Doink on SD.

How many people do YOU think will hold the title

Probably one title change before Trips gets it back, but possibly two. I can see Goldberg winning it at Summerslam then losing it back to Trips at Unforgiven. I could also see someone (Jericho or Goldberg) winning the belt at Summerslam, losing it to Kane at Survivor Series, and Trips beating Kane at Royal Rumble or Wrestlemania.

    ~~BREAKING & SHOCKING NEWS~~

At this point, I just have RAW on in the background while I BS online or play Red Alert 2. As for SD, I read the spoilers and pick out what I want to see. For example, I turned off the show a few minutes after the tag title match last week.

    RAW Debut of ...

Wasn't Jamal a product of the HWA, not OVW? I don't see either fed taking credit for that one HWA deserves the blame for Rosey and Jamal... they were the Island Boys, Ekmo and Kimo, before they got the Three Minute Warning gimmick. As for Conway, he was a very good heel in the OVW footage I have so, of course, he'll get the Cena treatment (face with no introduction and no gimmick).

    Vengeance buyrate

Vengeance, promoted mainly around Vince McMahon vs. Zach Gowan, drew what's expected to be a 0.42 buyrate, the lowest for the WWE since In Your House: It's Time, headlined by Psycho Sid vs. Bret Hart in late 1996. Wrestling Observer newsletter

    Triple H's face turn

I could've sworn J.R.'s said that already... And, as a result, JR has less credibility than Tony "This is the greatest night in the history of our sport!" Schivone.

    Triple H's face turn

Trips' resentment of The Rock goes back further than Gang Wars, IIRC. Bret Hart tells stories of how Shawn Michaels and Trips were always pushing for Rock to get jobbed out to Bret even back when Rock was a nobody. Bret refused because he saw potential in Rock, which pissed both Shawn and Trips off to no end. Since that time, I think the rivalry got worse because Rock got over on his own time and time again while Trips always required a HUGE shove to get over. (Trips was over as HBK's running buddy but it took some interesting moves on Vince's part to get Trips taken seriously as DX's leader, such as the Nation parody and the "invasion of WCW") It didn't help that their match at Summerslam 98 ended with Trips winning the IC title but getting injured in the process. He lost all his momentum during his six months off while Rock's charisma kept him from missing a beat and got him the WWF title at Survivor Series. In short, Trips is probably VERY bitter over all the chances he's missed out on by chance (injuries) or stupidity (MSG incident). Because of that, he's making sure that no one else can blow past him (Jericho, for example) and that he comes out on top of people who blew past him (Austin and Rock).

    Triple H's face turn

Well the average mark actually probably doesn't hate Triple H in the same way that the IWC do so that might not necessarily be the case. The fans give him an entrance pop but not much else most of the time. I'd say that turning him face may not be a disaster but he certainly won't get pops on the level that Booker T, RVD, etc. get after months of burial. Hell, heel Jericho probably gets bigger pops than a face Trips.

    Your state pride/shame

Louisiana Pride- Jazz Dr. Death Steve Williams (He's adopted Shreveport, LA, as his home) Shame- Rodney Mack Karl Malone Master P Lash Laroux I'm sure there are more but I don't want to add people who were just associated with the state for a long time (JYD) or people who may be from the area that I can't confirm (Jake "The Snake" Roberts) Note: Found out Jake was born in Texas but I think he probably lived in Louisiana a significant amount of time besides his run in Mid-South, as his mother and half-brother lived there for years.

    Trivia Weekend Update!

On the subject of OVW people in old gimmicks, it's not that they want them to get a push in those gimmicks. They've finally realized that it's easier to job out a Nick Dinsmore or Rob Conway under a mask or facepaint and a wig then push them as themselves LATER and have them taken seriously. That beats the hell out of the USUAL WWE debut of someone, which is one win, a shitload of jobbing, and maybe a push six months or a year later.

    The Blackout Report

And, from the buyrate numbers, no one noticed.

    Vengeance buyrate

Going in, it looked like a total POS card. It's not what happens on the show that affects the buyrate as much as what you THINK is going to happen. The next SD-only PPV will probably do better since the show was so good despite Vince and Steph.

    Cornette Rules it once again

That's pretty classy, although I doubt that he'd have too much vitriol towards people who re-report for other sites or posts. I've already gotten a response from the OVW webmasters praising me for having more balls than Keller and so forth by at least being honest. The last line of the response I've gotten: "Anyway, thanks for the nice letter and info and for showing some actual class and maturity - something the likes of Keller and such could do well to learn." I'll admit that my doing this is at least partially motivated by my reverence for Mr. Cornette, as I've been a big fan of his since I was young. Lord knows I wouldn't have been as forthcoming about anything involving Paul Orndorff or several other choice individuals.

    Cornette Rules it once again

I've sent Cornette an apology over repeating Keller's BS. As for Cornette and Synn, Cornette used to be married a long time ago but has since divorced. The actual tape of the interview shows both Cornette and Synn on camera and includes various comments that could lead one to the logical conclusion, including Cornette apologizing to Synn whenever he mentiones his wife in his stories. It also helped that, since the tape was released, Kenny Bolin of OVW made some public comments about how Cornette may have given Synn a ring but would never get married again and, in addition, Cornette and Synn appeared as a couple at the function on the Wrestleroast 2002 tape.
  18. As some of you may have guessed, I had a sizable amount of shoot interview tapes which I have been replacing with better copies over the past year. Since I have no further use for these tapes and prefer not to erase them, I'll put them up here for trade or sale. I'll list footage that I'm most interested in for trades. As for sales, I'll be willing to negotiate a price but I'll require a minimum of three tapes be purchased in order for me to make a sale. BTW: Retro Rob gets first shot at the Vader stuff since he's discussed them with me before. These are the shoots that I have available: Road Warriors Jake "The Snake" Roberts Bret Hart #2 Ken Shamrock (with Stranglemania 1) "Dr. Death" Steve Williams Bobby "The Brain" Heenan (and Wrestlewar 90) Midnight Express (and Pride Grand Prix 2000) 8 hour tapes- Tazz Vader Terry Funk Arn Anderson and Barry Windham Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat and "Gentleman" Chris Adams Road Warriors and Jake "The Snake" Roberts Nikita Koloff and Rey Misterio Jr. Terry Taylor and Jerry "The King" Lawler Two tape sets with shoots and other footage: 1. Vader, In Your House: Final Four, WWF: Smack 'em Whack 'em (broken across two six-hour tapes) 2. Bam Bam Bigelow and Survivor Series 1992 (broken across two six-hour tapes) Footage I'm most interested in: WWF: Survivor Series: 1989, 1990 Royal Rumble: 1988 In Your House: 1, 2, It's Time, D-Generation X, Over the Edge 1999 Comps of WWF TV from 2000 to the present WCW: Wrestlewar: 1991, 1992 Superbrawl: 1, 3 Clash of the Champions: Any Comps of WCW TV matches from 1996 to 1998 Bret Hart vs. Chris Benoit (Owen Hart match)

    Two Hit Wonders?

Comfortably Numb from disc 2 of The Wall would qualify as a hit even if it's not on the charts... some studies show that it's one of the most played songs in radio history.

    OVW losing deal with WWE?

Les Thatcher's HWA is still open but has dropped off the radar for most fans. Even before it was dropped as a territory, it had stopped running the Brian Pillman Memorial Show, which was one of its biggest cards of the year, due to the problems in scheduling such a card while being a developmental territory.

    OVW losing deal with WWE?

Not everyone on the OVW roster is under WWE developmental contract. A lot of people come out and train on their own dime in order to compete for one of those contracts while others, such as BJ Payne, stay in the territory despite losing their contracts due to the WWE's cost-cutting.

    OVW losing deal with WWE?

The WWE already gave up on several of them over the past two years so Vince could buy an extra ivory backscratcher. It wouldn't surprise me if they really DID screw everything up by trying to open their own territory in the Northeast then cut Davis and Cornette out of the loop.

What's so bad about Randy Orton?

I'd say he's too green for the push he's getting. They're trying to recreate The Rock by pushing him too hard and having a backlash. The problem with that is that The Rock had more charisma and was an accident and NOT done intentionally.

So what superstars are assholes to fans?

Ron Simmons, Teddy Long, Chavo Guerrero, Hugh Morrus, and a few others all posed for pictures and signed autographs when I went to the SD house show in Hattiesburg, MS, last year. Billy Gunn, Chuck Palumbo, Chris Jericho, Christian, Albert, and others all did not sign, but circumstances differed. Gunn and Palumbo, then Jericho and Christian, all parked in the players' entranceway to the coliseum and walked in from there. Palumbo didn't look to be in any condition to sign anyway as he appeared drunk. Christian and Jericho heeled it up on the way in, which was helped by Christian Sucks and Jericho Sucks chants. Christian later made comments about the chants in his pre-match promo. Albert came to the coliseum from working out at the Payne Center and just went straight to the coliseum. He just ignored everyone and went in. Almost forgot... Earl Hebner was pissy when he went into the building because a large You Screwed Bret chant broke out. I think he also said something like "I screwed Hulk too"
