  1. Agreed. Cheesy 90s pop rock doesn't work for them one bit.
  2. With his bandanna and new facial hair, Hernandez looks like Rick Steiner.
  3. It's not too bad, but I think they should be working at getting Rave over more as the leader, with Hemme as his slutty sidekick and Hoyt as his bodyguard. At the very least, they should show them being dorkier and playing guitar hero in the back.
  4. I really like how Scott Steiner and Rokka Khan walk around looking like freaks outside the Impact zone.
  5. Between Lethal Lockdown and the Joe/Angle title match, this is definitely worth getting. I hope they are not getting to a Matt Morgan/Cornette feud.
  6. I think that Storm is a useful enough guy for TNA to keep around. He's not awful in the ring and seems to get a genuine fan reaction. The drunken redneck gimmick works with him. They just need to figure out how to balance him drinking constantly and him being looked at as a serious competitor. With guys like Storm hanging around doing nothing, TNA really needs a secondary to keep guys like him busy.
  7. Glad to see the weekly thread return. Is Impact live this week? Borash has the ugliest jacket ever. Who does he think he is, Edge?
  8. Maybe its just being part Italian, but I'm really picky about eating pasta at restaurants. I find most food I've had at an Olive Garden to be pretty bad. I didn't mind Pizza Hut's pasta bakes for some reason.
  9. I never knew you were a fan of Heavy Devy... Indeed I am sir! Though I prefer his SYL work to any of his other projects. Same with Mike Patton...I like his Faith No More stuff, but not too high on anything else I've heard. Some of Townsend's other material is pretty bad, but I do enjoy his clean singing on Devin Townsend Band releases. Mike Patton's EP with Dillinger Escape Plan is solid; it's worth listening to just for the cover of Aphex Twin's "Come to Daddy".
  10. I noticed the "he loves you" line, too. Unfortunately, I missed out on a few of the pages, since the copy I picked up was a printer error.
  11. That's the same thing I noticed to when I was at a TNA taping in August of 2008. I'd say about 2/3 of the audience were people who were at Universal Studios and happened to stumble on a wrestling taping, not having a clue what was going on.
  12. I never knew you were a fan of Heavy Devy...
  13. I'm betting all but one of the 70's/80's Invaders is a skrull.
  14. You've been kicking my ass hardcore. Way to go dude.
  15. With Black Reign and Relik being in the match, this is one of the few times you can say that Lane Hoyt isn't the worst wrestler in the ring.
  16. So Secret Invasion #1 came out today, and this is what's happened so far: • A Skrull spacecraft crashed in the Savage Land. Both the New and Mighty Avengers went to investigate, ironically leading them to Sauron's base from the first New Avengers story arc. The ship contains what looks like the seventies/eighties versions of White Queen, Spider-Man, Power Man, Beast, Thor, Wonder Man, Invisible Girl, Jean Grey, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Mockingbird, Jewel, Captain America, Ms. Marvel and Wolverine. • Sue Richards has been replaced by a Skrull, who uses a portal device to send the Baxter Building into the Negative Zone. Inside the building are Johnny Storm and Sue's kids, Franklin and Valerie. • Jarvis the trusty Avengers butler has also been replaced by a Skrull, who hacks the Avengers computer system, effectively taking out the Avengers, Stark Enterprises and SHIELD bases. The Skrull also uses it to take control of the Iron Man armor, and shocking Tony Stark into a seizure A Skrull posing as Dum Dum Dugan takes out SHIELD's space station SWORD, and now a bunchy of Skrull warships are haded towards earth. • The issue ends with Yellowjacket zapping Mr. Fantastic with some sort of Skrull weapon and revealing that he is a Skrull. The last couple pages are some epilogues from Joe Quesada and Brian Bendis that say that the Skrull invasion has clues that go back to Secret War. Basically, they recommend a rereading of a bunch of Bendis books since he started at Marvel. Storywise, I enjoyed this first issue. Over on Newsarama, Bendis said that the one thing that he wishes he learned from writing House of M was that the first issue of an epic really needs to start out strong, and I really think he did. There were reveals and plot twists every few pages. I'm sold on this for the next seven months. Art wise, Leinil Yu is solid. Inker Mark Morales does a great job of making Yu's art work on this story. The art really helps take Yu out of his "guy who draws crazy ninja and rooftop fights" shell. So, what did you think?
  17. Seems like its going to be a decent PPV. Is the Kip vs. BG match going to be a loser leaves TNA stipulation?
  18. According to TNA's website...
  19. Could it also be that the Rock has just grown up and moved on? Maybe he doesn't want to hang around with peolpe who think that wrestler court and dumb ribs are fun. It's kind of like when you meet up with your high school friends after your done with college, only to find them still doing the same dumb shit.
  20. They've been doing indies the last few months.
  21. Well this is a surprise!
  22. I've been wanting to try the Beetle series again. I really wasn't getting into the first story arc.
  23. Ah, I remember the days when WCW used to air over here in England and because it was on in the evening they actually did cover up weapon shots with Batman effects. And CHIKARA, it's moved away from character stuff a little more recently. You've still got plenty of it, like The Colony, Hydra, Los Ice Creams, but it's much more resembling of a 'straight' indy than it used to be say two years ago. Definately not on HUSTLE levels. I'd say they have a nice balance of half of Chikara's roster being gimmicky and the other half being straight indy. It just happens that their non gimmicked guys all have a really flushed out character to begin with.
  24. Use http://www.dcbservice.com/ to order your comics. They discount everything, so with shipping it comes to about the same as if you were going to an actual store.
  25. You know, if he was dumb enough to be out their knowing what kind of crap he'll get he deserves it.
