Tampa is going to have to cut Chris Simms, Bruce Gradkowski, and probably Luke McCown at some point prior to the start of the season. Simms seems like a good fit in Chicago. Because he sucks.

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

Do my posts really make you that nervous, Dan? -
Now that I've had a few days to think about it, I think the thing that bugs me about Tampa's draft (and the offseason in general) this year is that I can see how we can be as good as we were last year, but I can't see how we got any better. Even with seven QBs on the roster, we're still fucked if Garcia goes down. We've probably replaced Brian Kelly at CB, but we haven't necessarily upgraded at the position with Eugene Wilson and Aqib Talib. And WR is still a bit of a question mark with a couple of old guys, a bunch of unproven or untalented guys, a guy who's returning from a long suspension, and a guy from Appalachian State.

w/r/t an AD comeback, credit Wikipedia: Anyway, I watched Juno tonight. I didn't hate it overall, but the dialogue was as awful as advertised.

I missed the show last night due to work, so I tried to watch a few clips on YouTube and didn't make it past the first 30 seconds on any of them. No thank you, Andrew Lloyd Webber.

I'm a little late to the Times New Viking party (although not nearly as late as I was to the Feelies party), but this is pretty good. Like anything else, 90s nostalgia has started with the hipsters.

I don't know how it happened, but I've come to greatly dislike the Flaming Lips. I was copying a Kinks CD onto my computer the other day and Windows Media Player somehow read it as being Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. And I was embarrassed. I mean, what if somebody saw it, y'know?

The OAO TSM "Happy Birthday, you!" Thread

I don't want to mention any names, y'know? If I did, I would. I know all the names. But, guys, my birthday was on the 10th of this month and nobody here so much as mentioned it. I was playing it cool the day of, you know, just checking the board every couple of hours, waiting for someone to bring it up. But nothing happened. Nothing happened. And I've been fuming ever since. I mean, I turned 25, guys! A quarter of a century. And, I mean, I even floated the idea of starting this thread just so that people would wish me a happy birthday. And I got nothing. Bunch of fucking assholes. -
I d/led the Feelies album Crazy Rhythms today. This is really good. EDIT: Except for the Beatles cover.

I mean, of course I'd like to talk to Leena or Ginger, but...what if they don't like me, y'know? I don't know if I could handle that sort of rejection.

Word. I forgot all about that song. I had a dream about it one time.

I don't care for "September Gurls" at all. I mean, I like a fair number of Big Star songs, but they've just never really meant anything to me. It's entirely possible that they'll someday click for me, but it hasn't happened yet.

Well, I can say from being a fan of a team in the scrapheap division that is the NFC South that many of the rivalries that have sprung up post-realignment are fairly meaningful, just not on a national level. A Tampa-Carolina or Tampa-Atlanta game may not mean much to most fans, but is as bitter and contentious as a working-class Pennsylvanian to those with a vested interest in the outcome. So it's best not to fuck with these things now that the NFL finally has everything completely perfect.
-
Yeah, and I feel that the way the league is currently aligned is perfect, so I would be wary of any proposed changes. It becomes difficult to develop meaningful divisional rivlaries when you're moving teams around every 8-10 years.
-
No, it should stay the same. If you can have Miami in the AFC East and Dallas in the NFC East, I see no reason why L.A. couldn't be in the AFC South.
-
I guess that the best situation is for Jacksonville to move. They have very little fan support, they haven't been there long enough to establish any kind of tradition, and there are two other in-state teams to cushion the blow.
-
Just replace mysteryposter with me. I think that ship has sailed.

Names currently being bandied about include Jacksonville, Minnesota, San Diego, Oakland, St. Louis, and Buffalo.

I think he made four Pro Bowls, was co-MVP one year, and also had 3,000+ rushing yards in his career. I don't think he's a HOF guy, though. The overall picture with the numbers isn't great, and there was a very narrow (like 2-3 years, if that) window in his career where you could reasonably argue that he was one of the five best at his position in the league.

Yale Student Self-Inseminates, Aborts Several Times

That leopard-print skirt/tassled boots combo is absurdist, disgusting, pointless, reactionary and abstract. That's the real outrage here. -
Along with Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots were really foreshadowing what mainstream rock music was to become in the next decade and beyond. If you listen to 99.5 "The Hog" or Rock 101 sometime, it seems like every band sounds like a sludgier, angrier, and less tuneful version of Stone Temple Pilots.

But with McNair retiring, I would guess that Ryan probably wouldn't drop any further than Baltimore at #8. There's been some chatter that the Jets like him at #6, but that seems like bullshit to get other teams that want either him or possibly McFadden to trade up.
-
Except that you can't seem to find two scouts who actually agree that Ryan is the best QB of the bunch this year. It generally comes down to some combination of Ryan, Brohm, Henne, and Flacco. Atlanta obviously needs a QB, but Ryan is probably a reach at #3 when you consider that one of the two Longs, Dorsey, Gholston, etc. will still be available. I'd look for Atlanta to take a QB in the 2nd round and still be able to choose from at least two of those quarterbacks I named above.

I think Cheap Trick might be my favorite of the bands mentioned in this thread. Heaven Tonight is a really solid album.
