I was just reading about how in Japan there's a serious problem with people being groped on trains. The bay area is primarily traveled by train as well, and I've never heard of that happening here. A common misconception, but there actually is no minx cat. It's often used erroneously to refer to a Manx cat (I know this because I've had two Manx cats myself). Anyway, I just looked it up... couldn't find any etymology for minx referring to a sexually voracious female. It is apparently an old spelling of mink... which in the past was associated with ladies of extravagance. I suppose it's sort of like a fox ie. attractive woman, and they both have an X in them. I think the X sound is naturally exotic, predating it's use as a pornographic rating. These animals are all fairly sleek and cunning. So is a cougar, for that matter. I think that's where the meaning lies. Somewhere in the exotic sounds and vaguely feline associations. Like, everyone knows rabbits fuck all the time, but calling a girl a fuck bunny isn't really all that complimentary.

I like Mole's idea. Plus it'll likely make people read the book to find out what happens. Not that Rowling needs any more money, the damn succubus, but people should read more.

Now Sin City I do find overrated. I like it, but it's overkill. Everything that was wrong with 300 was also wrong with Sin City. (Oddly, I know a lot of people who really like 300. Apparently not so here, as nobody is talking about it much.) I think both movies are watchable, but wouldn't be in a top ten. I won't make a top ten, as there wouldn't be much new to note, but I'll say that I like Batman Returns better than Batman 89. Oh, and thanks for the tip re: Oldboy dvd.
