Fluff, but hilarious fluff.

Of course, Tyler, Consumer spending for the 3Q did go up 6.6% anyways. After two big spending months that generally aren't like that, you'd expect a dropoff. But hey, if you want to keep shouting "Recession!" in the hope thta Dean still stands a slight chance at winning in '04, good for you!
*Buddy Christ thumbs up*

Possible REALLY bad news for the Dems, Good for everybody else
The surplus is back, every dollar accounted for?
You know, I have to wonder what Al Gore would have done with that surplus stuck in his Social Security Lockbox...
-
While I agree that in may NOT just be a mild growth, many insiders have said that it is those with jobs spending more rather than businesses creating more jobs.
But it's statistics like always, so we can turn them however we want!
I don't think that's under dispute. I think the fact is that people are spending more, which means more goods being sold which requires more people to sell said goods and more people to create said goods, which in turn creates will create jobs. Cause and effect, yo. So what was your point here?
-
This won't help or hinder Dean unless a big deal is made out of this.
Naw, I'm sure the Bush Administration will just downplay this.
-
Most of the jobs being created are not ones that can support the average family. This isn't growth, it's a mile's swelling.
Got any proof of this, if I may ask. I don't remember anyone actually specifying what type of jobs were really being made.

Yeah, you've got it, and it is a class issue over all else.
It's still Affirmative Action, though.
Then again, AA by class (If done progressively), is far more acceptable. At least, that way, we KNOW someone who needs it is getting it. When done by Race, though, it doesn't help the people it should.
-
If you consider legacy admissions to colleges as AA (which it really is), then the argument is a decent one.
I'm not really for those either, and wouldn't those benefit those people on a non-racial basis? I mean, it's anyone who went to the college, so its not as though its restricted to usage by white Americans or Black americans or Latinos or etc etc. I see the argument, but I really wouldn't call it a solid one.

I don't have to play the game to point out the flaws you fool, I can read about the flaws from a review or reviews of the game. However when I play the game I can see even more for myself, the pros and cons of the game. Huge logic flaws in season mode is a BIG flaw and its sad that all the wrestling games have had them. You can hear all about the HCTP storyline logic flaws on the ps2.ign.com review. Entrance music for the old time wrestlers should be there because many people want to see it. Please stop with the stupid comments, you are making a joke out of yourself.
And yet, didn't IGN give it like a 9.1? Just to ask...

Hey guys... my comptuer is broken down, so I won't be able to make this show. Whoever is booking the next show, please do not book me. I'm gonna lose internet in a few minutes, so I hope this message makes it.
... Damn all! Nothing against you, X, I know you had no control over this, but I hate writing against a no-show that I know is going to happen. No malice towards you, just ticked off at the situation itself. Oh well.

Okay, reality check here. I don't like the RIAA or the MPAA much, but Jesus Christ this has become some giant "OMG BIG BUIZNESS IS TEH BADZ!@#()*!" love in
But OMG BIG NUIZNESS IS TEH BADZ!@#()*! when it comes in during school hours and pre-empts science class to push their view.
How would you like it if your kid said "Well, English was cancelled today because Pepsi came in and explained the meaning behind their new slogan."
It is, I agree, business is bad by doing this. I don't agree with this. But illogical and unintelligent bitching about it doesn't really make for good discussion of the topic, does it? It wasn't that I disagreed with their views, but all the weepy shit surrounding it sours it for me, that's all.
-
some people have to just shut the fuck up and pull themselves back to the Earth. Gah. I agree with what is being said in here, but just calm down.
THE RIAA IS YOUR FRIEND
TRUST THE RIAA
OMG I TRUST THE RIAA! THE RIAA IS GOOD! TH-
Ah Christ, this gets old way too fast. Seriously, stop overreacting like this were the damned Patriot Act and have some fucking intelligent discussion of the topic at hand.
My Opinion:
This certainly isn't the way this should be done. If they want to teach kids about Copyright stuff, get someone who works down at the Patent office for these things. Someone from the Government should be teaching this, not someone who is obviously biased. It'd still be favorable to the RIAA and those guys since the Courts agree with them and doesn't come off as some bad conspiracy to influence our kids.
On the essay... I might write in myself just for the prizes. They may just teach our kids how to be better liars than to actually believe in their view on copyright laws.
I guess they don't realize that they are actually going to be informing the kids in these grades that its possible to pirate movies. Nice.Through all the repetitive bitching and moaning here's one of the funnier and ironic parts about their speeches: They'll probably end up increasing KaZaa membership rather than reducing it

Va'aiga v. Quiz
-Va'aiga gonna fuck yous up, boy. Va'aiga to continue his big heel push
.
Singles Match for the Intercontinental-Television Title #1 Contendership
Bastion v. Erek Taylor
Special Guest Referee: The Boston Strangler
- Hm... tough. I'd say Bastion here.
The "Don't pull the Commissioner's punk card" Match
Micheal Craven v. Xero & Jay Dawg
-
The FUCK? What the hell is with this match? I'm not really for this one at all, but if JD shows, he wins. I honestly don't see a way for Craven to go over here without looking uber-strong, which at this stage in his career really isn't needed.
Singles Match for the United States Title
"The Barracuda" Johnny Dangerous © v. CIA
- Interesting. I'd say CIA to win, but I think Johnny could take this because of CIA's rust.
Tag Team Match
Xstacy & WildChild v. Justice & Rule
- No prediction.

The next step is apparently to have big business-agenda education.
Philosophy courses will now be centered around the proposition: "Britney or Christina?"
History will put the fore-fathers of Coke and AOL on pedastools.
"The only thing we have to fear...is money burning in your pocket!"
I'm waiting for blackboards to have pop-up ads now.
*weeps* Boo-hoo, next thing you know is big Oil is going to be telling my kids to screw the environment blah blah blah...
Okay, reality check here. I don't like the RIAA or the MPAA much, but Jesus Christ this has become some giant "OMG BIG BUIZNESS IS TEH BADZ!@#()*!" love in. I do believe that they should be getting a bit more non-biased people explaining copyright laws and the incentives are a bit weird, but some people have to just shut the fuck up and pull themselves back to the Earth. Gah. I agree with what is being said in here, but just calm down.

... That's from Donald Rumsfeld, is it not?
Psst... I'll let you in on a secret.
Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Donald Rumsfeld isn't a liberal. I know he's not. I'm just showing that not only liberals are criticizing(spl?) the way the war on terror is operated.
First off, then your title is completely wrong, nimrod. No liberal is asking a question here, so why the hell is it in the title? You sure fooled me.
Secondly, he's not critizing the War on Terror. These are questions he's giving his staff on how he can they improve on their current operations. While they've gone decent to good so far, they certainly could be doing better and he's challenging his staff to come up with new ideas for them, asking them what they need to do to become more efficient and a better terror-fighting force. There aren't any actual critizisms there, just questions on what needs to be done now.
So nice try, but no cigar.

I'm done aruging with you people on this thread. if you guys can't admit to the facts that are happening right now. I feel sorry for you.
If you can't bring up any facts to support your piss poor argument, then stop crying and acting all confused and leave already. You can't bring up anything that supports your argument and your little rhetorical questions have backfired right in your face because we gave you an answer that you didn't want. Read a book, actually check your shit, and then when you are a bit more informed of the actual issue at hand, come back.

Some 15 year old using a web server exploit that System Admins are too lazy to check or patch to change some company's web page to read "U JUST GOT OWNED" for 5 hours before it gets reverted and the SysAdmin FINALLY patches the damn hole. That's not terrorism.
Isn't this already Cyber-Terrorism under the FBI Definition, Jobber? That was already illegal and everyone kinda agreed on that.
-
I'm a moderate democrat who believes that this admistration has put us in a quagmire for many years for the way they have executed this war.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Now THAT'S funny. Just to ask, how the hell SHOULD we run this war? I mean, if you have a better way of it, I'd like to tear it to shre-I mean, hear it.
should our foriegn policy be used to liberate every country with a two-bit dictator we don't like?? I didn't see your hero Bush get in a big hurry to liberia until the liberals put the heat on himOh shut up. You really like to shovel bullshit, don't you? You know why we don't eliminate dictators in Africa right now? Because there isn't a possibility of fixing stuff at the moment. They lack any sort of economic or political infrastructure that would allow for any type of change from US Military action, dimwit. Those COULD turn into Vietnams. Iraq has both of the above, making a governmental change like the one we are doing very possible.
And now I go to bed. More in the morning.
-
You have absolutely NO concept of what a real "quagmire" truly is.
haven't you read any news in Iraq about soldiers being killed there everyday,
Have you ever heard the phrase "Freedom is not Free"? Probably not. Personally I'd rather have a soldier die defending someone else's freedom instead of massive death due to a tyranical dictator retaking power because people like you didn't have the balls to stay and actually fight for someone else's freedom.
oil lines being blown up by terrorists,I honestly don't remember this. Can you cite a source here?
sure there's some good news coming out of Iraq. but I knew the place be a quagmire after the war because three seperate groups are trying to take over the power vaccum in Iraq.If you know as much about the current situation in Iraq as you do the weapons inspections currently going on, I'd say you know absolutely jack shit.
Question: Which story draws viewers to a News Show? Soldiers dying or soldiers building a school?
Answer: The former. Why? Because for the news industry, bad news is news people will tune in to see. Remember round-the-clock coverage of the Sniper in D.C, the O.J. trial, and all that? They want bad things to happen because that puts up ratings. Maybe not literally "wants", but death and destruction is a far greater than happy stuff. Hell, one wonders how so many wars past could have been waged had the public been so freaky about casualties. If it were up to people like you we would have given up at Valley Forge or Antietam or Kasserine Pass or so many other harsh battles.

Well, gee, with that, I suppose we have our blueprint now.
No need to actually think of HOW TO DO WHAT HE SAID. Well, we need to upgrade the grid. Well, gee, thanks Captain Obvious.
Or, just for shits and giggles, to ask WHY DIDN'T RICHARDSON DO IT?
It's not like the power grid SUDDENLY became antiquated.
if the republicans didn't get in the way of Richardson's energy bill. we might have a 21st century grid about now.
Was this the Democratic one proposed after the blackout? That thing was basically a "Just fix only the stuff we REALLY REALLY NEED TO" bare bones package. If that's the one, the Republicans were right to kill it since just fixing a few short circuits doesn't help when the whole system is bad. Christ, this is like talking to Tyler with half the tact and grammar.

Plunderin, I believe you're referring to air marshalls, but I think there are other countries that would be a more apt to have them than Turkey.
Well one country has been doing it since they had a flight hijacked in 1979...I just can't remember the damn country's name. It was on a report shortly after the 9-11 incident because the country had the best airline security in the whole world (statistically speaking)
Then that's Israel. On their National Airline they always have two plain-clothed and armed sky marshalls, plus some incredibly rigorous safety measures as well. I remember the incident you speak of, as well. They stopped in Syria or Jordan and an Israeli strike team managed to rescue those on board. "10 Minutes at N______" or something like that.
Edit: Corrections abound here. It's actually "90 Minutes at Entebbe", the title of the book by William Stevenson describing an Israeli Commando mission to rescue 258 Air-France fliers and crew members who had been hijacked in a joint German Baader-Meinhof/Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine terrorist operation back in 1976. They landed at Entebbe Airport in Uganda, where the Israelis attacked. All the terrorists were killed as well as 1 hostage and 3 commandos.
"The Reagans"
in Current Events
Posted
I'm gonna disagree with Mike and say that, looks-wise, James Brolin doesn't make a bad Reagan. Today, with the right makeup, you can literally make anyone look like anybody. So I'm not really against him playing Reagan, despite his political inclinations.
But from what I've heard, everyone in Reagan's family, his friends, and many others think this mini-series is a horrid representation of him. I think that is more a deciding factor for me rather than who the hell Reagan is being played by. If you really want a good mini-series, anyways, you look to HBO, not CBS.
