I normally don't pay attention to the NFL's Thursday Night Game, so I didn't know who won/covered the spread. After going through your picks this week I now know New Orleans was the victor -- either outright or the team lost by less than 3.5 points. Thanks for saving me a trip to NFL.com. 1 p.m. • So the guy from Oklahoma won the Heisman. Whatever. I was pulling for Colt, but this guy had the bigger numbers 'n stuff. Not like any of this matters in the NFL, though. • And last night while having SportsCenter on as background noise, I got to hear this gem. Some idiot anchor was trying to make a connection with the RECSSSION and people getting there jobs turk'en with the plethora of NBA coaches getting fired. Uh, dipshit, NBA coaches getting fired isn't quite the same as Joe Blow getting laid off because his business is closing. Why can't you idiots just stick to reading scores? Even Jay Harris, who is probably my favorite SportsCenter anchor, was acting a fool alongside this other guy, who I saw host a NFL Live once in a while but that's about it. Ugh.

Here are two rule change suggestions: 1) On weeks where there will be Thursday games (or other non-traditional days like Saturdays), I would put up the thread early with only picks for those games. The spread for these early games will go up early in the week, such as late Monday/Tuesday. The remaining spreads will be posted Wednesday/Thursday. That will require two separate instances for you to post picks, but it will give you more time to send in the early game pick. By holding off on calling spreads for the Sunday games later in the week, the spreads posted will be more accurate than if I post them Monday/Tuesday, which is the reason I have held off on doing this. ****************************************** 2) If you are on a losing team and have no chance at the playoffs, I had an idea as to "phone in" your picks. For example, if you are 0-12, let me know via PM you wish to "phone in" the rest of the season. This way, if someone is having a bad year, the team he represents will still be competitive for the rest of the year. I would not announce publicly who has "phoned in" his picks. I would also ask you come up with a different formula to "phone in" your picks so someone doesn't catch on that you were picking all home teams for two consecutive weeks. You would also need TB scores as well. I know many of you still send in picks when your team's record is sub.-500, but I don't want to lose long-time participants because of a bad year and their mind moves elsewhere. And remember, even though you may go against someone that didn't submit picks for a Thursday game and TB score, this advantage may also go to a person who you are competing with for that final playoff spot. ****************************************** When you submit your picks this week, please let me know if you vote "yay" or "nay" on these two proposals. Saying "I don't care" or "Do whatever" counts as a "nay," as does not voting at all. We must have a majority of teams (17) agree with each proposal in order to make each one pass.

Now Thursday is when I get some peace and quiet Mrs. kkk's night for watching network television. She watches Survivor, CSI and some other crappy show after that. Now it was 40 minutes until Survivor, so I made a joke about what if you miss tonight's episode. "It's on On Demand," she replied. I go into the bedroom to, well, you know... ...and I'm still waiting. The heck? It doesn't take that long to swallow a birth control pill. I walk out into the living room and what do I see? She's setting the DVR to record Survivor. Glad the thought of my beefstick still gets her scampering off onto the love mattress. And for the record, she finished in time for Survivor's opening segment. • I generally don't like McDonald's ads, but I like this batch. The hell? When have attack ads NOT been popular? Then again, I don't think I'd want these two going at it head-to-head. Oh heck, if you've made it through today's entry you deserve it...

Thursday deadline has come and gone.

It snowed BECAUSE of global warming. Don't you get it?

Moving water, whether it's from a fountain or a sink, tastes better/fresher to them than water that's been sitting in a bowl. And colder, too.

The baseball playoffs and hockey playoffs are two different beasts. I would consider going deep into the playoffs, NHL style, to be the conference championship, and even then to stretch it out to a Game 6 or 7 if you happen to be on the losing side.

I'd say no. Don't ask me for facts to back this up or anything crazy like that. And what would you consider an "impact on playoff races" in the NHL?

Will the person I offered his team to accept in time for the Thursday night game? Will Porter come back once I told him that I would still accept picks from him even though he is retired but will probably return before the Super Bowl? Will a non-playoff team be given the chance of a lifetime to take part in the playoffs? Will nothing happen at all? You'll have to tune in and find out.

Sorry to hear about your cat Dubq. And I feel bad for those dogs being chained up like that.
