I feel like I've mentioned this before (perhaps in this very thread) but Good & Plenty are an absolutely terrible candy. Just awful. It manages to combine the worst attributes of licorice and jelly beans to make one bad candy.

I really don't remember Metro being all that special. Granted,I only saw it once seven or eight years ago but I remember it being a pretty paint by numbers cop movie with a few nifty car chases. The only thing that stood out is that it was more or less a straightforward action movie with a comic bits thrown in.

All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft
King Kamala replied to PILLS! PILLS! PILLS!'s topic in Draft Faggotry
I probably won't do a women's division as well for pretty much the same reason Hawk stated and I probably won't do a cruiserweight division for no particular reason other than it just doesn't fit what I'm going for. -
All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

Here's another pick, I was absolutely shocked hadn't been picked yet. Sure, the guy is kind of a running joke on the IWC for his numerous gimmick changes (and deservedly so) and isn't the greatest worker but he was a capable worker as a heel and a babyface during his heyday at the end of the 80s. He's one of the last semi big names standing from the WWF's heyday in the mid to late 80s and people must have forgotten about him. I'll be using him as a heel, as a part of a mini-stable of arrogant muscleheads with "Superstar" Billy Graham and Don Muraco. He's a former WWF Tag Team Champion, the anticipation of having this guy on the roster is making me feel Dizzy, and will hopefully make you guys say "YES! NO!" in agony of not getting him yourself, he's a man with no name who needs no introduction, he's Hulk Hogan's #1 disciple... With my 21st pick in the All Time Wrestling Roster draft, I'm proud to select... Brutus Beefcake! -
I hope that was directed solely towards luke-o (and yes that post was terrible- Clooney wasn't even the best part of Clayton). I spent twenty minutes on that post!

The Things That Anger You Thread.
King Kamala replied to Man Who Sold The World's topic in General Chat
I don't feel like looking through 28 pages of complaining to see if someone else listed this so if this is a repeat, I apologize. This may sound anal-retentive but I always hate when somebody pours themselves a drink and then put the carton/bottle/whatever back in the fridge when it only has a miniscule amount left. I understand they're trying to be polite and don't want to be the jackass who drinks the last of the pink lemonade but I'd rather have no pink lemonade than having to be teased with a third of a Dixie Cup of it. They should just finish the god damned carton themselves! -
It's time for a King Kamala Classic Direct To DVD movie review. So I just saw The Independent, a movie that NetFlix recommended to me. The film, a ultra low budget mockumentary about a Roger Corman-esque B movie producer, Morty Fineman (played by Jerry Stiller),was made in 2000 but apparently wasn't released on DVD until a couple of months ago. This probably would have worked a lot better as a short film because even at 80 minutes, it feels really stretched out. The film also would have been much better off if they focused on the mockumentary aspect rather than the hackneyed plot about Fineman and his semi-estranged daughter (Janeane Garafalo). Still, the film isn't completely without merit. The clips we see from Fineman's past movies are mostly amusing as are the interviews with Fineman's contemporaries. Despite what looks like an incredibly low budget, this film has a decent cast and features a plethora of odd cameos. Peter Bogdanovich, Ron Howard, Roger Corman, Fred Williamson, Julie Strain, Karen Black John Lydon, Jonathan Katz, Brian Posehn, Andy Dick, Bob Odenkirk, and Ben Stiller all show up for this one. On The Kamala scale, I'd give this one **1/2. Worth a cheap rental if you're a fan of exploitation movies and odd cameos.

All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft
King Kamala replied to PILLS! PILLS! PILLS!'s topic in Draft Faggotry
There are actually two tag teams I could think of that fit that description. But only one that really matches up well against one of my teams. Edit: The team I was describing was The Pitbulls, who were picked eight rounds ago. Well, it's better to learn about this before I made the pick and look like a goof. Ah well. -

There's a team that I'm absolutely shocked hasn't been picked yet. In fact, I thought they'd already been picked before I scanned the list last night and alas- they were not there. I thought they'd be picked in the first fifteen rounds for sure- if not the first ten. I don't want to say anymore 'cause they're mine! -
To expand on my burger vote, there are so many ways you can do a good burger. Beef burgers are awesome. Turkey burgers and chicken burgers- also if done right can be awesome. Hell, I've even had the occassional good veggie burger (Note to vegetarians/health freaks of TSM: I'm in no way dissing vegetarianism or healthy eating, I just don't like vegetarian imitation of meats generally). But how many good kinds of hot dogs are there? I love me some Beef Hot Dogs and pork hot dogs will do in a pinch but Turkey Dogs? Egads! Veggie dogs are even worse. I haven't even had chicken dogs but I'm in no rush seeing how I've heard they suck from several close sources.

Really. Old people are just as bad as teenagers with chatting during movies. People probably don't notice them as much since they don't attend movies as frequently as annoying high schoolers do. But as someone who attends "arthouse" movies on a semi-regular basis, I certainly notice.

All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft
King Kamala replied to PILLS! PILLS! PILLS!'s topic in Draft Faggotry
My next pick is one of the biggest babyfaces of the '70s and despite the fact that he's Italian-American, he's perhaps the most beloved of the wrestling Indians. He could probably feud (and in some cases has) with pretty much any heel on more roster. Feuds with "Superstar" Billy Graham, Don Muraco, or Ric Flair would all be money IMHO. He's a former NWA Florida Heavyweight Champion, a 4 time WWF Tag Team Champion, was PWI's Most Popular Wrestler of 1973, and is a member of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of '94... Ladies and gentlemen, with my 20th pick, I'm proud to select... Chief Jay Strongbow! -
You can be such a dumbass sometimes. Really, Czech can be so ignorant of mainstream popular culture sometimes. Not that that's a bad thing most of the time. 1/3rd of the commercials I saw last night on TV were either for The Dark Knight or a Dark Knight tie in. And I know this is off topic (but since this whole post is off topic...), but is their a bigger tie-in ripoff than The Gotham City Pizza that Domino's is shilling? It's just a pepperoni pizza in a new box. Big whoop.

Eh, meth hasn't really hit Maine too hard yet. It was probably oxycontin. And it wasn't my hometown fortunately, just the town I went to college in. Thank God.

I've always liked this one way better than the first one and I like the first one. Even the most elitist movie snob will have a hard time not cracking a smile during The Seventh Seal parody. They don't make dumb teen comedies like the Bill and Ted movies anymore I tell ya.

Worth noting that when I saw Drillbit Taylor, a good portion of the audience applauded the movie after it was done. I can comprehend applause perhaps at an unheralded low budget indy film but applause for Drillbit Taylor? Weird. This was the same audience that laughed uproariously at The Love Guru trailer and the same theater where about a third of the audience walked out of Michael Clayton. Small town movie theaters are weird I tell ya.

Who is your wrestling hero and have you ever met him?
King Kamala replied to Lil' Bitch's topic in General Wrestling
I guess this is turning into a "which wrestlers have you met?" thread and I'm always glad to participate in these types of things. My first one was Tatanka in June '94 at an autograph signing at a late Home Vision Video (sort of the precursor to Blockbuster here in Maine). It was shortly before he turned heel. It was an autograph signing so there wasn't much conversation and I was only six so I wouldn't have remember what was said even if there had been. I didn't meet another wrestler again until December '99 when I met Tony Atlas at a Toys For Tots drive at a used car dealership of all places. Really nice guy but he was a few fries short of a Happy Meal. At one point, he started rapping about his then recent appearance on MTV True Life. He gave us free tickets to an indy show he was wrestling at with Brutus Beefcake, The Bushwhackers, a Doink, and Public Enemy but my parents wouldn't let me go because it was a school night. Damn them! Tony lives around here so I see him every once in a while out and about. He's headlining an indy show against Pierre Carl Oullette at a bar about an hour away. I should go. The former Saba Simba Vs the former Jean Pierre Laffitte is a match I can't possibly miss. Next I met Rico and D'Von Dudley outside of a house show in July '02. Both really classy guys who took time to sign autographs for the throngs of fans despite the fact that they were both heels at the time (Though has that really mattered for the past ten years or so?). D'Von seemed like a good humored fellow. Then I met Scotty 2 Hotty in late '02/early '03 at an autograph signing at a grocery store (Yeesh, they have autograph signings at the oddest places here). He seemed very tired and looked like it was the last place on Earth that he'd want to be. Can't blame him. This was during one of his neck injuries. Geez- this post is the definition of TL;DR. I also met the future Kenny Dykstra (then a 16 year old newcomer named Ken Phoenix) at numerous indy shows. Somewhere laying around the house is a picture of myself and my younger brother with the babyfaces of EWA (including Dykstra). Palmer Cannon (then the dominant babyface of the EWA- Brian Black)'s wife worked with my dad and I met him a couple times before and after his brief, inauspicious WWE run. -
All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft
King Kamala replied to PILLS! PILLS! PILLS!'s topic in Draft Faggotry
Ya know I've had the idea for a stadium/arena draft, it just never came to me to share it (I swear I'm not lying!). I already have a stadium in mind for my show anyways. -
I scanned Cawthon's site and DDT Digest and it didn't seem like they had any matches under that gimmick. For some reason, they didn't wrestle from the time the gay gimmick was aborted until they became 2XS (which IIRC, seemed to be a watered down version of Standards and Practices). Maybe I should listen to the Lenny Lane shoot interview I downloaded a few months back and see what he has to say. Though it wasn't very compelling listening. I should ask myself why I downloaded a Lenny Lane shoot interview...

Ya know- I didn't hate Drillbit Taylor either. Maybe it was my resoundingly low expectations and maybe it was the fact that I saw it at the discount theater for $2.50 but I thought it was a pretty good throwback to those 80s teen movies where lowly nerds learned to stand up for themselves. It wasn't great but it was nowhere near one of the worst movies of the year as some had pegged it. I thought Hot Rod was OK overall but there were four or five moments that were flat out hillarious and made the movie worth seeing. My favorite part for some reason was Chris Parnell's radio announcer character.

I was confusing Samuel Alito and Roberts. I knew it was one of the two semi-new guys, I just picked the wrong one. -

Yes, yes it does. Hell of a pick there, naiwf. I was considering them myself for the last two or three rounds but they don't really fit anywhere on my roster. -

18/20 Got the Chief Justice and the opening lines of the constitution wrong. Drats. -
Cabbage, I found Fall Brawl '00 not a Nitro from that time period. Though Timmy says he found Nitro Down Under from around that same time period (Late September- Early October). I actually believe I have that show on tape for some reason and besides Nash seemingly beating the entire roster in a gauntlet match, it really isn't that bad. It's definitely surreal seeing a Nitro from the dying days of WCW with a hot, sold out crowd.
