IIRC from one of the manuals/strat guides, Solid Snake is partly Japanese, actually. His "father" was a naturalized American of Japanese/British descent.

What message boards were those, BTW? Sonic Adventure 1 is still a good game. It's aged terribly, and I refuse to play the Big levels ever again (I actually beat the entire game, Big levels and all, and played the Super Sonic finale. Very, very fun), however, from then on the series has gone more and more astray. The sad thing is, from SA1 on there's been 3 different lead designers on 3D Sonics, and none of them have managed to make a really good Sonic game, IMO. This guy probably could, but he's moved on to far, far greener pastures.

Yes, because Nintendo *totally didn't delay* Twilight Princess or Metroid Prime 3. No siree. People were just hung up on prospective dates. It had nothing to do with Nintendo failing to release TP so they could put it as a Wii launch game or anything. And let's forget "Spring 2007" was straight from Reggie's mouth and repeated ad nauseum. Any time some one says "3D Zelda formula", replace it with "Ocarina of Time." Because that's what they really mean most of the time. This has been praised as the best 3D Sonic game so far. All I have to say is--it controls better than Sonic Next Gen, and I'd find it acceptable for 20 bucks or so. However, considering what Sega should be doing with the series, it's pathetic.

What exactly are the problems you were having with the Crackdown DLC? Did you lose any save data? The "problems" where if you joined a coop game with somebody who downloaded the free DLC, your save would get borked. And no, I didn't lose any data because I haven't done any coop.

On a normal-person scale, this is a ringing endorsement. Is that really you? Would someone who utterly loathes the previous Mario Party games and likes Wario Ware perhaps like this one?

Good news--the PS2 version of the game, at least, is ONLY $29.99!

Like I said, Streetwise is cheesy, stupid, and you beat lots of people up. For variety you have silly mini-games and occasionally blow away glowheads (which are *totally* nothing like zombies) with shotguns. With better visuals and a better camera, I don't really see how how you can complain that it isn't a fun *Final Fight* game. Godhand is much the same way. It's cheesy and really stupid, and you beat the hell out of people. It's extremely retro in its game design, unlike Streetwise (which deliberately tries to update more and give you more variety). Streetwise does have an "arcade" mode that's more like a traditional FF game, but it's hella hard and you have no continues. Boo! If you like Godhand, by the way--give Streetwise a fair shot. Indeed, it is! There's even a minigame where you beat up vehicles (it actually appears to be the same SUV from SF3--but in various different colors). Sadly, there's only one actual vehicle model to beat up.

Most annoying part to me is the combination of the guard and attack buttons.

I think I know the game you're referring to--how's the music? It's Koshiro, so I expect awesome.

Resurrecting this thread, because--after getting it dirt cheap and playing the heck out of it: I like Final Fight Streetwise. It's really violent, it's stupid, the camera kind of sucks, but somehow I still like it. Don't get me wrong, it still probably would rank as a bad game to most, but there's a lot of information spread about it that was totally incorrect. Yeah, the cursing and other "mature" material is over the top and a bit much, but most of it is unintentionally hilarious. The cut scenes and acting are cheesy and dumb...but then again, so it's Final Fight period. If you can get over the fact that the Metro City here kind of craps over everything the fighters in the old game accomplished, it's not hard to get into. Clips (a lot NSFW, mainly for violence/language) -- The original intro (toned down in the actual game, but shows you a bit of the combos too): Kyle meets Nicky "The Weasel" Wissel in search of info: Gameplay trailer (with Andore and katana-wielding Asian schoolgirls): The stupid extermination mini-game: Oh, and there's not just one generic throw, either. Besides your regular throw, you can also do a knee-lift combo, a german suplex (learned from Haggar), a quick giant swing (Haggar again), and you can also use a stun headbutt in the midst of a regular combo as well. Most reviewers hated it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y06yENjRLyQ Sadly, the arcade version of Final Fight that's available to unlock is a poor emulation; stick to the one included in the Capcom Classics Collection.

"There's no time to waste." Well, he hasn't praised the sixaxis. Of course, the only ones who seem to do that do that post on gamefaqs and neogaf I think.

Odin Sphere's rather hard to find now. Atlus does low initial print runs all the time. More printings should come, and remember that Gamequest Direct might help out afterwards.

Ugh. Customers too stupid to realize why UMDs are dead.

*Is totally in favor of Star Ocean 3 renaming himself Valkyrie Profile* Oh, and from the "It's on the Internets, It Must Be True!" File: Wiiyou.com is reporting a list of upcoming Wii titles (with no source or anything credited): Spelling errors and misnaming of real, existing titles aside, I don't think this list really needs any thought to be discredited. LOL at "Shadow the Hedgehog 2" and "The Legend of Sheik." Scary thing is, I wouldn't be shocked at all if there's a Shadow sequel. I'm *so* ready for "Metroid Xterme," though.

I got a bit too annoyed with the clunkiness of the interface as well as the CPU partners' incompetence to look into working around it. Too bad, because the concept and characters looked interesting. Level 5 can do good work, but not consistently. DQVIII undoubtedly involved lots of Squeenix whip-cracking to get out a much more (relatively) polished product.

ON ROGUE GALAXY: I tried it. And yeah, your cpu-controlled party members are brain dead. You can change which character you control, but regardless with them in tow the game has way too much of an escorting feel to it than I'm willing to tolerate. That would be fine if you could go it solo, but you tend to *need* those assholes for the boss battles. I wouldn't recommend to anyone, really.

I think he was referring to Rogue Galaxy. If you haven't played it, it's like a poor man's Kingdom Hearts.

The game drops next week officially, but Gametap subscribers (with a non-crappy computer) can play it now if they so choose. Oh, and Gametap has a multi-part retrospective on the series up: http://tombraider.gametap.com/ Comparison shots of Anniversary (PC version that is) vs. the original game: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p...p;postcount=103

Got the game. So far there is, as mentioned, FANTASTIC VISUALS... Beyond that, while the RPG trappings are there and apparent, so far there's a heck of a lot of fighting. Attacks from the ground, attacks from the air, enemies that need to be beaten/weaked by special conditions, etc. However, you can't go all-out melee frenzy. The game borrows the strength bar that Secret of Mana had. You can attack with a big combo string, but if you don't pace yourself you could be left defenseless. Enemies that are killed leave behind Phozon, which can be used to power up your sword or grow your plants. I've only gotten a small taste so far, although it can be difficult/frantic to keep up with them and defend yourself. Because of the tenacity of the baddies, you'll have to eat food/heal up a lot. Thankfully, that's trouble-free, as it also borrows Mana's ring menu system. Each "stage" (battle, shop, npc hangout" is a ring. So you just need to either go left or right until you get to where you need to be. The many rings connect to each other via different doors and paths, and you can track your progress by pulling up your map with a quick button press. Lots of folks who got to play farther say the difficulty ramps up really high quick. I can imagine how, just based on on how sudden I'd end up fighting for my life so far. Having lots of fun so far, but if you like your RPGs heavy on exploration and plot you may not enjoy it.

Comments in this could be really funny on a less pro-Nintendo board. Ok, what all do you know about it?

http://kotaku.com/gaming/like-fine-wines/e...-360-263778.php If it's Streets of Rage 2 with online co-op--HOORAY!! If not, meh, buy Sega Genesis Collection.
