I wish it did, though, because honestly there's a ton of games I'd rather play with the Classic than the Gamecube controller, like fighters. Regardless, Gamecube controller with play all Gamecube games, all virtual console titles, and many Wii games. Classic controller plays all Virtual Console games, and many wii games. Wii remote plays some virtual console games. The problem is that the Classic controller isn't a traditional wired controller. Rather, it hooks up to the Wii remote. And when the Wii plays GC games it basically clocks itself down and disables all of the Wii features; it becomes a Gamecube. If the Classic controller were a traditional wired, or had an optional wire for Gamecube gaming, this wouldnt be a problem. Eventually I might get a classic if a buttload of SNES games I want to buy on VC crops up, but for right now the Wavebird does the trick.

Yamauchi is no longer in charge you know. You know, the guy who masterminded killing Metroid Guy and was the big cheese during Nintendo's 8 and 16 bit dominance?

For comparison's sake, I set up the N64 and the VC running Mario 64 and switched between them. Both running on composites, anyway. The VC one looks better overall, with much crisper, smoother graphics and textures. However, the N64 one looks much brighter, and I've heard folks note that the virtual console Zelda looks darker as well. Unfortunately there seems to be no way to tweak the color/brightness settings within the VC. Depending on the cables/hookup method you use, it may vary, but I guess that's just the emulation.

Except the N64 pretty much sucked except for 1st party Nintendo games and was the start of the downward slide. As the console market goes, Wii could/should be a step up from where GC was. Stephen Colbert playing Wii Boxing: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3155528 The SNES days were the best, IMO. Two great systems to choose from and both well worth owning, and the 16-bit games hold up better than just about anything else before. The gamecube has a more robust release schedule right now than N64 did in its prime. It would be funny if things turned out to be Wii60 and PSWii. Hell, Sony and Microsoft were bickering over that same point. Regardless, it will do very well, although I don't know for how long. I'd say that Nintendo having a console out there in some form gives them a lot of apparent stability even if/when their bread and butter is the portables market. Don't think for one moment it's a coincidence that Japan is getting the Wii late. What's the rush when Nintendo can rake in another 4-5 weeks + worth of massive DS system and game sales?

yeah. there was also a 6 button version. My old Moss' (extinct grocery chain) had it in their little mini-arcade. The voices...er, voice is so terrible. It sounds like one of those old kids toys with the synthesized robot voices. And Sagat looks like he's related to Toxie.

$650!!?! OMG!! That's like...a cheap PC. Or half the price of one of those pieces of crap iMacs Apple makes. People spend a hell of a lot of money on pricier PCs to game on, not counting upgrades. And the price has been beaten to death. Why are we still talking about it? And if you paid for a high-end HD TV...you know, the only type of TV that Blu-Ray movies are going to look any different than DVDs on...then the price is hardly that ridiculous.

The PS3 was meant for hardcore technophiles who happen to play videogames. It's hardly a "hardcore gamer's" heavenly bliss right now. Sony isn't positioning it as a game machine. Yet. It's going to me the ultimate media settop box! It may be *smarter* than you! Download movies! View your photos! Make microtransactions! Use your PSP as a rear view mirror! Take over your living room! Emotion! Toy Story graphics in real time! It will be back to being a gaming machine when the average consumer balks at it. But yeah, only the hardcore crowd really wants it now, because the price point isn't even close to mass market acceptable yet.
-
Heh, yeah, not much variety, but the quality is hard to argue with. According to 1up, not only does M64 look crisper and clearer, but it also can run in 480p when you have the component cables.

Plus instead of the measly single interrupt save, Genesis collection lets you make 3 save states you can then load up at your own whim, picking up exactly where you left off. We'll probably see the Streets of Rage games on VC, though.
-
No, there are still lots of hardcores who would be glad to pay retail price for a PS3, but they couldn't afford to knock off work for a week and camp out for it. People are greedy assholes. Another video game company has exploited the holiday shopping insanity. None of this is news, nor does it reflect on the console's future.
-
Already have them on the Genesis collection. Those games are totally not worth 8 bucks either, although they're at least not as ridiculous as Altered Beast for 8 bucks. I suspect Sega will continue to be lazy phucks and will just gradually release the entire Genesis Collection catalogue (or at least whatever Nintendo will approve).

A 360 isn't the same thing as a PS3, and neither of them are the same thing as a Wii. Sure, at this point in time pretty much every PS3 game but Resistance is on 360, but people who honestly want a PS3 are thinking less about Resistance or Motorstorm than they are Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo and the other Sony staples. If the situation were reversed, do you think the 360-demanding buyers would want a PS3 when they really want to play Halo 3/Gears/Dead or Alive/Project Gotham/Perfect Dark (just kidding)? No. If I absolutely could not have found a Wii, do you expect me to buy a 360? Why? Kameo ain't got jack on Zelda. I don't believe traditional marketing logic applies to gamers. This holiday I expect PS2 will still outsell 360, PS3 and Wii will sell as many as the companies will make, and anyone buying any of those systems will do so because they wanted it to some degree. It won't be because they simply couldn't find a PS3/Wii. This only *maybe* applies to parents, who don't know what the hell the difference is anyway. But that's still a big assumption to make.
-
I don't follow that logic, sorry. Explain that. What does the fact that thousands of greedy people camped out and bought PS3s with the sole intention of reselling them on Ebay have to do with whether or not the PS3 is a "console meant for fun?" There's similar things going on with the Wii, although not to as ridiculous an extent. Is the Wii not meant for fun?

I got the Capcom Classics Collection 2. First game I played was Street Fighter 1. It's absolutely terrible but I played through it and beat Sagat, just because it was Street Fighter. It's pretty much impossible to do the special moves with any sort of regularity, but I did manage to do several fireballs and dragon punches, and some accidental Hurricane Kicks. Super Turbo is still a brutally hard bitch of a game, but there's no noticable loading, which is cool. Also the "Super" versions of the characters are in. Magic Sword and Knights of the Round are great fun. Tiger Road sucks hard. 3 Wonders was a nice surprise. I like Captain Commando. Most of the others are decent-to-crap, but I've yet to play them all. Tons of obscure titles are on there.

The DS can do N64 level 3D and perhaps better--see Ridge Racer DS (essentially it's Ridge Racer 64), Super Mario 64 DS, Mario Kart DS (which smokes MK64 visually), Metroid Prime Hunters, Final Fantasy III and so on.

Yeah, wiiseeker sucks. And no, there aren't enough Wiis. So what if there's 2x as many Wiis sold so far as PS3s. That's not very damn much, and both would sell a lot more if the stock was available. Both of them sold out within probably 20 minutes of going on sale at every store, if that.

Somebody had a custom-made Master Sword forged: http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/master-sword/...uded-217490.php Looks damn heavy/deadly. I'd love to swing it, though. -
I *thought* that one was new... Don't look at me. I suck at shooters and only have 400 Wiipoints left after Mario 64 and Bonk.
-
Downloaded Bonk's Adventure. It's a fun little game mos def. Although during the course of headbonking the hell out of baddies, I found the Wiimote has a slight annoyance when used as a sideways controller: the B-button. If you don't hold it right, you may accidentally press B now and then. it's a shame that there doesn't seem to be a feature to rotate the d-pad functions. It would have been kind of cool to try to play it one-handed.
-
HHH would have killed everyone in one season, though. In Your House had really awful "super pin" finishing moves. Think fatalities 10x crappier than MK3 even. Like, HHH sucks you into an atomizer (one of those perfume spray bottles).

I found it (wolf mode) a lot more enjoyable in Zora's domain. However, the inevitable comparison has got to be made with Okami there. And frankly, Ammy has it all over wolf Link. Fortunately, it doesn't seem that significant. Maybe 1/5 of my total playtime so far.
